Discussion Alternate PvE Proposal: Temporary Ceasefire map condition (see caption for details and reasoning)

Post image

THE IDEA

Create a Temporary Ceasefire major map condition. Put it in the rotation with other major map events. Keep the loot super limited: no items beyond blue (rare) quality. Increase the arc presence. You can do your quests and hunt arc, but you can't gain a big power advantage.

THE REASONING

Why this, instead of an always-available PvE mode? Low-risk raiding should be a reprieve; a small treat. Not the standard.

If you remove most of the risk, you remove most of the reward. The danger is the whole point in a game like this.

Without danger, we lose lose the serendipity. You don't need to make friends or find out who people are and what they're up to. You don't have the little moments like accidentally shooting someone and then trying to make it up to them. Or the dilemma of deciding whether to defib a stranger who could be an adversary.

PvE also removes a lot of hard and soft gaming skills. I don't have to mind my aim in order to stay friendly. I don't have to say "Hey I'm friendly, what's up dude." There's no more flashlight friend-or-foe indicator. The sound of a powerful weapon no longer gets my hackles up. I don't need to listen for footsteps.

Lastly, open PvE could wreck the economy. You shouldn't be able to free-farm materials.

Adaptive matchmaking works. If you've earned your way deep into the friendly ranks, you can play all evening without getting shot at. This should suffice for most dads and uncles. But the risk is always there in the back of your mind.

And for those that need a boost now and then, we have a rotating Temporary Ceasefire map condition.

My gut says they lose more people that enjoy PvPvE than they gain pure PvE players

No that’s goofy. The people coming back to fill the pve lobbies will be people that already weren’t playing the game. The pvpve people will continue to pvpve. This whole “I’ll quit unless I can force a bunch of people to play against my sweaty ass” mentality is wild. Tarkov still has pvpve and pve lobbies, games are easy to find, and the people that play pve would typically never play pvp only anyways…

Unless they took away pvpve your point is invalid.

What a stupid take. They did essentially take it away, without directly removing it.
Bu splitting the player base, the game becomes either all PvP or all PvE.
All of the tension is gone from the game and the standard mode is just shoot on site PvP 100% of the time.

Sure it divides the playerbase, but unless you’re getting low pop/empty PvPvE lobbies does it actually matter? It’s not affecting anything substantial.

Unfortunately I have found this to be the case. Buddy and I were stoked on PvE, played a few matches and honestly, I see the merit as a way to farm crafting mats, maybe practice some harder fights without getting shot from behind, and generally just fucking around with the boys but it needs to have a severely limited loot table or else everyone from the care bear lobbies that make it a care bear lobby is just gonna go pve. Why would you ever, ever risk it again if you’re not interested in PvP? And now the PvPvE rooms are way more aggressive than before cuz the only people left there are the ones who want to PvP. It’s kind of a mess right now. Overall, I’m not against the mode but it should, imo, be the step between practice range and regular matches where you can gear up a little or get mats to repair your shot without having to go into a PvP match with no shield rechargers.

“I can’t farm easy kills on people that are becoming frustrated with the concentration of sweaty players because they will be having fun somewhere else”

My brother in Christ those people leaving pvpve would be quitting in a month or so anyways, and the people filling pve lobbies will be a majority those coming back after already quitting the sweatfest

This sorta validates my theory that most people who want pvp actually want Player VS. Pinata.

u/xXBeefSquatch5KXx 32m ago

It’s not splitting the player base though. It’s adding a mode that will bring people that already left back to the game

Or is it you don't have sitting ducks to grief?

I like pvp, not sure why two modes offends people. Just go into regular matches, what's the problem? There is all the pvp in the world but it's not good enough for youm

Because it’s not a PvP game. It’s a PvPvE game that they have now turned into a PvP only or PvE only.
I don’t know what’s hard to understand about this.
Running into people and not knowing how it’s going to play out is the fun of the game. That’s the tension.

It’s wild that in 2026 we have people buying a game knowing exactly what it is, then a minority of players crying so loudly that they want the game changed that the devs actually break lol.

So they removed PVE from the PvP mode is what you’re saying? No more bots to kill in the PvP mode? Only players?

2

u/xXBeefSquatch5KXx 27m ago

They weren’t crying they left and companies need money which comes from players this is pretty basic.theres enough people fussing in here that I’m confident you will still have pvpve lobbies and will only really lose the people that already quit or were about to move to another game.

For you.

So you just fundamentally don’t understand what the terms mean, PvP means solely player VS player, PvPvE means player VS player VS environment, which is the arc and literal environment on some cases. The threat of arc and the world is still there, and there will still be friendly players at times.

Lmao… it’s called sarcasm. so then why did you just say “they have turned it into PVP only or PVE only.” When you just admitted PVPVE very much still exist. You’re just contradicting yourself now. And what I said clearly states I know what the terms mean btw. (Bots as in arc, short for robots)

You just want to argue semantics

I'm so sick and tired of this 'you just want to grief friendly care bears'. It's not anything like that.

I pvp in trios, duos is mixed, and solo is care bear. Why am I a big proponent of PVP as someone that's never ratted at extract or shot someone in the back while they're looting? it's because a lot of us are actually on the good side and enjoy the variety of a mixed lobby. I've care bear'ed 400+ hours and the moments that stand out for me are helping the good raiders against the bad raiders. Generally I like the challenge of defending myself even though I'm likely going to die and lose it all. It's not black and white and I wish this sub would enforce the 'no toxic anti pvp' rule

2

u/TraumaDaddyP 5h ago

That's literally the only thing missing since this update, I'm actually playing again because I gear up for pvp and roll people left and right. But that's not what y'all wanted, a fair challenge, was it?

1

u/flightwaves 3h ago

You answered your own question. I want to play trios as friendly. I also don’t want to spend 10 rounds trying to get ABMM to put me back in low aggression lobbies after killing a rat who forced pvp on me.

1

u/SprayInevitable6821 3h ago

I mean I didn't really ask a question, and if a rat 'forced' pvp on you then you shouldn't be in aggressive lobbies for defending yourself.

Some people are just weird gate keepers that make no sense and this guy is one of them.

3

u/MechTechMax 4h ago

So you're saying you can only get kills on noobs, people that aren't kitted out for PvP exclusively with bobcats and torrentes, and people grinding quests/etc.?

Poor you, you have to fight people that are expecting to fight.

3

u/MayoGhul 4h ago

What the fuck are you even talking about? I swear some of you are legit morons.

The issue is that all the tension is gone. Running into players and not knowing if they’re going to attack or not. People lying, or playing near each other and not knowing if someone is gonna turn or not.

2

u/MechTechMax 3h ago

The only tension was whether or not you run into people because unless I was play solo or the PvE mode, every lobby is PvP shoot on site. It's already 99% PvP unless your in care bear lobbies which is essentially the PvE toggle just without having to suffer 10 games anytime you actually want to fight.

PvPvE just makes me not want to do 90% of the game like queen or matriarch because you do all the work for some rat to slime you. It's low reward high risk. Since you only anticipate getting in a fight it's pointless to loot, just better off killing someone and taking their loot, well then it's pointless to play anything other than the smallest maps, mainly Stella. And then it boils down to pretty much needing to use a bobcat or torrente to be competitive or freewill to rat someone without risk.

If the player base isn't big enough to have a PvE toggle then it's already doomed.

2

u/ArchonofTevinter 3h ago

Its genuinely insane that some people cant grasp that people just want the PvPvE and that uncertainty of player interaction and the potential of both. They just seemingly deliberately ignore the concerns that it will just encourage outright PvP in the regular gsme mode or say it won't happen.

Then, they prove that exact point by saying "well now ill just load up in the PvE mode and then focus on PvP in the regular mode". Like yes you morons, that is exactly what we DONT want to happen. While youre trying to say it won't change the game and make PvPvE more PvP focused, youre actively saying that is what you are going to do.

1

u/B1rdbr41n 20m ago

Just curious how the tension is gone in the normal mode. Is there something that says that a player is going to shoot you or that they are friendly?

1

u/N1kiLauda 44m ago

This is correct. PvPvE is basically PvP now. I had not been attacked by a nother raider for weeks, or even months. When PvE was implemented I forgot to turn it on and in my first match I get killed. Of course in the back from someone sneaking up when I was fighting Arcs.

What a stupid take.

u/bronx_Gabe 6h ago

The Pvpve atmosphere is very unique. If they split the community it will lose its appeal.

2

u/PossessedCashew *** ******* 5h ago

Only for those that enjoy PvP. It doesn’t affect the players that enjoy the game for purely the pve aspect.

2

u/bronx_Gabe 5h ago

It certainly does. I didn’t buy a pvp game. Removing pve removes the tension. It has a massive impact on the player base as a collective. Less raiders accumulatively will certainly have an impact to both sides.

0

u/mrlunes 3h ago

I don’t think they plan on removing PvP

1

u/ademayor 2h ago

We are talking about PvPvE, not pvp
