Marketing App devs making $100–$50k/month: would you hand your app to a partner for 2 years if they paid for all the growth?

We're a mobile app group: we build and scale our own iOS and Android apps with an in-house growth team, and we run our own user acquisition and ad platforms. We're about to open that machine to outside developers, putting our budget and our team behind apps that already earn. Before we set the final terms, we want to hear from the people who'd be on the other side of the deal.

**How it would work:**

- We pay for and run the growth: store page and localization, creatives, paid users, paywall and pricing tests.

- You pay nothing upfront, and the revenue you make today stays yours.

- Revenue above your current level is split 50/50 for 24 months. After that, it's 100% yours again.

- While the deal runs, the app sits in our developer account so we can run campaigns and collect revenue. A contract moves it back to you at the end, and the code and brand stay yours.

- The first month is a test on our money. If it doesn't work for either side, we part ways and you owe nothing.

**What we'd really like to know:**

  1. What's actually capping your app right now? Money for ads, time, skills, conversion, something else?
  2. Have you tried an agency, a publisher, revenue-based financing or anything like it? What happened, and what did it cost you?
  3. Is moving the app to a partner's account a dealbreaker? If not, what would you need to see first: contract terms, escrow, references, something else?
  4. Which part of the deal feels unfair, and what would feel fair instead?
  5. What would make you trust a partner like this at all?

We're not selling anything in this thread. We'll post a summary of the answers here next week. And if you'd like an honest teardown of your store page in return, say so in a comment and we'll reply there.

*UPDATE:** Thanks to everyone who pushed back. This thread changed the plan:

- **No app transfer.** Your app never leaves your developer account. Your code, brand and users stay yours.

- **Read-only access only.** We work from your store reports and analytics, so every number comes straight from Apple and Google, not from us.

- **Automatic split instead of invoices.** Your store payouts land in a dedicated account in your own name. When a payout arrives, our share is split off automatically and the rest is yours. Both sides see the same numbers. We're working on setting this up with a US fintech partner.

The part of the original post about moving the app into our account no longer applies. Questions and blunt feedback still welcome,

What am I doing wrong

Launched toolforgenz, and it's about one month and so far I don't see any good progress.

Total of 110 active users, but the bar has fallen to somewhere around 2-3 active users per day.

The whole platform is completely free and no signups needed.

And for me to earn something and keep this running I was thinking to start running ads but seeing these numbers id don't think I'll make any penny.

What should I do, should I discontinue and focus on something else, or should I invest some in ads.

Selling my android app -4k+ installs, monetized, profitable, zero infra cost

Post image

So I am planning to sell my Android app- audio and video ai noise reducer. This app helps user to remove noise from the audio and video. The app has two modes - local processing and cloud processing. Local processing is completely free (as supported) and cloud processing is paid.

Even though the app has more than 100 purchases for cloud processing yet my infra cost is zero(I'll reveal full architecture once the deal is finalised).

It has already more than 4000+ users, admob monetization enabled.

What's included - full source code , existing Google Play app transfer to your eligible developer account, app branding and assets that I own

Has anyone successfully grown their app through TikTok organic content?

Post image

I’m currently promoting my motivation app through two TikTok accounts, posting around 2 times a day on each.
Some of my previous posts reached 5K–47K views, but lately a lot of my content struggles to get past 200–800 views, even though I’m using similar formats.
I’ve been experimenting with different hooks, images, and slideshow styles.
Has anyone experienced something similar? What helped you get your views growing consistently again?
I’d appreciate any advice from people who’ve used TikTok to market their apps.

I launched my app back in August and I barely have any downloads.

When users don't like my app that's something I can work on in case I get some feedback, but users not even downloading an app, that's where I struggle.

I come from the point of an Indie iOS Dev so I have no prior experience to marketing, but this seems to be my bottleneck right now.

Do you have any tips or ideas on how I could give my App some life?

only 9% of mobile apps under a year old make $1K a month. at 1-3 years it's 21%. the first year is the wall, not the verdict

Post image

spent some time on market research lately and pulled ~62K mobile apps (iOS and Android, just what shows up on the charts, not my apps) that made a top chart at some point and checked how many clear $1K a month in store revenue, split by how old the app is.

under 1 year: 9.2%
1-3 years: 20.7%
3-6 years: 23.1%
6+ years: 20.4%

the big jump is right after year one. after that it's basically flat. being old doesn't help on its own.

my read: a lot of mobile apps that "failed" at month 6 didn't fail, they just weren't done yet. rankings want months of retention and ratings before they push you, and your first users are the ones who find what's broken.

the flat part is interesting too. a 7 year old app isn't more likely to earn than a 3 year old one. the old apps still making money are the ones that kept shipping updates.

caveats so nobody has to post them: store revenue only, ad money isn't in here. the under 1 year group includes apps that launched last week, so it's a harsh number. and revenue is modeled, so trust the shape more than any single %.

how long did you give your last app before you moved on?

Growth I just received my very first payment today. Best day ever so far!!!

My app, Vyro, a workout tracker app, just paid me the incredible amount of $66 USD. It's not that much, but after 7 months of continuous development and refining my Play Store Page, screenshots, bugs, and ASO overall.

This is a huge win for me.

Ironically, I've got my first paid on Android before Apple. When people tell you that it's not worth developing and shipping apps for Android. DO NOT LISTEN THEM.

I'll be glad to answer any question or comment you have about the journey I've had

Marketing App ads with claude design

Anyone that has used claude design or any similar service to make animation app ads? Stumbled across it today and got really hooked, it's insane how beautiful animations that can be created with AI.

Would like to connect to anyone that is doing this, I have never used claude design before or created animations so could use some help.

If anyone here have AI animation ads available, please feel free to send them over for inspiration!

Working on Coin Boxes – A Dots and Boxes Strategy Game. Would Love Your Feedback!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on a mobile game called Coin Boxes, inspired by the classic Dots and Boxes concept.

The gameplay is simple: Players take turns connecting dots, and whoever completes a box earns points.

Current Features:

- Play against AI

- Play with friends

- Multiple AI difficulty levels

- Game statistics and performance tracking

- Simple, colorful mobile UI

I've attached a short gameplay video showing the current design and mechanics.

I'm looking for some honest feedback from fellow developers and gamers.

A few questions:

  1. What do you think about the UI and gameplay?

  2. Does the game look engaging enough?

  3. What features would make it more interesting?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks for checking it out! 🎮

needs advice

Hey everyone,

I’m currently planning an MVP for an app/web tool that allows users to select a property via satellite imagery and generate precise roof measurement reports (area, pitch, edges, eave/ridge/valley lengths) to auto-generate roofing quotes.

I’m reaching out to get feedback from anyone who has worked with GIS, map overlays, or computer vision:

Imagery APIs: Standard Google Maps / Bing Maps tile zoom levels often get blurry when zoomed into individual residential roofs. What high-res satellite or aerial imagery providers would you recommend? (e.g., Nearmap, Mapbox High-Res, Google Solar/Aerial View API)?

Measurement & Canvas Libraries: What interactive canvas or mapping framework would be best suited for drawing polygons, calculating pitched roof surface areas, and snapped edge-tracing (Leaflet, Mapbox GL JS, OpenLayers, Fabric.js)?

CV / Machine Learning: Has anyone explored automated roof segmentation using computer vision models (e.g., Segment Anything / SAM) to auto-detect roof lines? Is CV accurate enough yet, or should I start with manual user-polygon tracing for the MVP?

Would love to hear any technical insights, potential pitfalls, or recommendations on tech stacks for building something like this.

thanks 🙏🏻

Showcase I’ll design free App Store screenshots for the first 2 apps in the comments

Post image

I’m making screenshot concepts for two apps today. The image shows the kind of work I can make, with a different style for each app.

If you’d like one, comment with your App Store link and a short description of your app. If it isn’t live yet, share a few raw screenshots instead. I’ll take the first two with enough details to work from.

Monetization Is there any value in this?

Post image

I've been developing my app since March and it's been growing very steadily, however most of my purchases is lifetime even though I offer monthly/yearly aswell. This is not really an issue since the average user uses the app for 12 weeks or so.. there's a constant influx of new user.

Is an app like this worth anything even if it's not MRR?

Building an App I built something that most people laughed at, but it made me $10K

When I told people I was building a tool that turns blog posts into videos, most of them laughed.

"Who needs that? Just hit record," one friend said.

But I kept noticing the same thing: writers pouring hours into brilliant posts that only a few hundred people ever read.

So I built Blog2Video anyway, late nights after client work, one rendering bug at a time.

The first version was clunky, and the first demo crashed halfway through.

Then a finance writer tried it, and his week-old article became a polished video in minutes.

He shared it, his audience grew, and he told two other writers about it.

They told their friends, and suddenly I had paying customers who had never heard of me.

A few months later I checked the dashboard: $10,000 in revenue from the idea people laughed at.
