Hit and run at meijer

This guy in a gray truck hit my car while backing out of a parking spot at meijer on Saline road and drove off. This was back on August 23rd at around 2:15pm while I was in the store. My dash cam glitched out and didn’t record when I pulled in, so I never got his license plate, but I did get his face and that the back left tire well is rusty 😂 The police officially closed the case and can’t identify the license plate from the shitty meijer camera footage. If anyone thinks they recognize this guy, pls lemme know!

State Street Median Project: Lane Closures

I will preface this by saying that I support the project and certainly see the need to beautify a main access point of our city. Large swaths of concrete are not very welcoming.

Now I will complain about the lane closures.

It has been a few weeks now and two lanes have been closed. I pass this area of the city around 730AM and again around 510PM.

Only once have I seen anyone actually working in the median in order to justify closing two lanes. I am assuming they have these lanes closed simply for safety purposes, as there seems to be no other benefit. They could use the turnaround areas for vehicle storage or close a lane temporarily to deliver mulch or supplies, but constant lane closures, when no work is being completed is rather bizarre. Especially given the year we have faced with road closures.

My recommendation would be at a minimum to close the lanes when the work starts and open them back up when the work is complete for the day. This would address most traffic surge issues.

The only benefit I have noticed so far is that people have seemingly accepted the zipper merge as a proper form of managing lane closures.

End rant.

Meteor over North Ann Arbor?

Anyone else see what appeared to be a meteor last night around 11:30-11:45PM? I was sitting in the LA Fitness parking lot on the phone, facing north when I saw a bright streak, low on the horizon slowly drop through the sky and burn out just above the Miller/M-14 area.

Too fast to snag a video/photo unfortunately.

Goose rescues in the area? Injured animal

I had a Canadian goose fly into my house and hurt it's neck earlier today. It got up and can sort of walk but it can't fully lift its head. It's been walking around then sitting down for a bit now so I don't think it's going to get better.

I tried using Animal Help Now, but I could only find a few options and two of them haven't responded.

Ann Arbor Real Estate Sub Interest

Hey A2!

Mods remove if not allowed, I do not consider this a “housing” related question.

I would like to gauge interest on Ann Arbor specific Realestate sub. Honestly I am probably going to start it anyway, even if no one visits.

This is different from housing, and obviously different from U of M mega threads.

Obviously things are expensive, but the market does change. A great example of the type of sub would be the New Orleans Realestate sub.

Fully disclosure, I NOT associated with any real estate firm, agency, or agent. Nor am I an agent of any kind or broker. NOT a Realestate investor either.

I DO works in the quasi adjacent field of Geographic Information Systems.

Now for the why - I have noticed an uptick in Realestate related questions (myself included) here in A2. Having a dedicated sub would help the A2 community and Reddit community with questions, answers and general information.

Fall Colors Photo Spot

Looking for a recommendation for an area that's likely to be pretty this weekend for a few portraits. Anything in the Ann Arbor/Brighton/Ypsi/Saline. I know some of the popular parks will work but if there's a pretty spot that's less busy that would be lovely! Thanks!

Hi everyone, I didn’t grow up in Ann Arbor and I was wondering if anyone has pediatrician recommendations? I’ve been reading reviews but thought I’d also ask on this sub.

Moving to area-with security clearance.

My husband and I are moving in March. He has over ten years of experience working at NG as a computer analyst manager with TS clearance. What companies near Ann Arbor hire someone with a clearance? Unfortunately Northrop does not have any locations in Michigan.

This bs you have to look at if you walk thru 1st and Washington, tried to make a complaint but they thought I was stupid or something. If I didn’t work nearby I’d take it down myself…

How the heck did you do this!

I was at the baker rd McDonald's. Some guy came frantically running up to my car while I was getting out yelling "reese, reeese" then he said, "oh, I thought you were reese" yeah, clearly. So that was weird. But I didn't think too much of it. Then I went through the drive through and I figured out why real quick. The person at the speaker said pull around, second window. Normal. Ok cool. So I pull around to the side where the windows are. There's a car sitting at the first window, not moving. So after a few seconds waiting, the person in front of me pulled out and went around them and pulled up to the second window. I thought that was weird but ok. I waited a few seconds then did the same thing. I looked back to see what the heck the driver was doing and realized it was empty. Smh. So I asked the girl at the second window what was up with that car. She said he locked his keys in his car. Wth smh. Then I saw the guy walking around the parking lot looking lost. The same guy who came running up to me. First of all, McDonald's should have put a cone there or something. So people don't just sit there waiting. Second of all, how did you lock yourself out. It was a nice newer looking car too. So there should be a safety feature on the car to prevent that from happening. Also, why are you even getting out of your car in the drive through line in the first place. Ridiculous. Makes no sense to me.
