What to Watch? anime with 2 souls inhabiting 1 body?
something like a sukuna yuji dynamic. the "sukuna" doesnt have to hate on the "yuji" tho
would be nice if it wasnt a fantasy anime

I'm currently watching «Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden», and recently finished watching «A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires».
I have to say, I kinda like the trope, and was wondering if there are more anime which have harmless-looking characters who are actually merciless. They need not be the protagonist, but must at least have a significant presence in the anime. By merciless, I mean that their methods of retaliation may seem borderline or completely "villainous", or at the very least a bit unhinged. No mercy to the opposite side, paying them back in kind, something like that.
Note that I don't mean the "Secretly Overpowered" trope, there is plenty of material available for that. It's fine (or even better) if they're overpowered too, but I just want the character in question to be merciless in their methods–physical or otherwise.
Below is a list of anime which I've already watched and fit the trope, to which I might add some entries upon being reminded by the comments (Starred ones fit it well in my opinion) :–
★ A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires [Elizabeth/Ellie]
• Code Geass [Lelouch]
• I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability [Loid]
• May I Ask for One Final Thing? [Scarlet]
• Overlord
★ Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden [Nia] (Watching)
★ Saga of Tanya the Evil [Tanya]
★ The Eminence in Shadow [Cid]
• The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World [Seika]
I'll add the recommendations I receive in a list below for easy viewing by anyone else looking for similar recommendations (I'll also periodically shift the ones I watch in the list above) :–
• Arifureta : From Commonplace to World's Strongest
• A Certain Scientific Railgun
• Black Lagoon [Hansel & Gretel]
• Bleach
• Classroom of the Elite
• Dark Gathering
• Durarara!!
• Future Diary [Yuno]
• Hunter X Hunter
• Katanagatari
• Kill La Kill [Harime Nui]
• Monogatari
• Monster
• Shoshimin : How to Become Ordinary
• The Irregular at Magic High School [Tatsuya]
• You Are a Four Leaf Clover (Upcoming)
Thank you everyone for your time.

Idk the name of it, but I remember stumbling upon one scene of a fantasy anime where a girl (who I think is one of the main characters) being stabbed from behind during a celebration and I think that same girl is later resurrected into a new body but is being controlled by someone else in said body. Again, I vividly remember this, but I was hoping you all could help me. The getting stabbed part can be focused on more, but thought I’d give the other detail I mentioned some spotlight as well just in case.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Vic Mignogna as Edward Elric and Travis Willingham as Roy Mustang) and Death Note (Brad Swaile's crushed as Light Yagamiare) are generally at the top of this list. What other anime make the cut for English dub?

i’m looking for something messy, taboo, morally grey something along those lines. i’ve watched a lot of wholesome animes but man i just want something realistic, i want the character to do smth fucked up for a change. don’t be afraid to recommend i’m extremely open minded and love taboo themes🤞also, i don’t need the entire story to be fucked up, just something realistic, yk??

Haven’t watched a sports anime in a while and Ao Ashi got me hooked again. Looking for recommendations with a lot of hype and character growth.
Already seen: Haikyuu (one of my all-time favorites), Ao Ashi S1, Blue Lock, Hajime no Ippo, Kuroko’s Basketball, Inazuma Eleven (all of it), Baki
Any sport is fine. Thanks!

One of the funniest aspects of early One Piece, was the fact Luffy were recruiting people, and now I'm playing Fire Emblem Fortune's Wave and finding funny recruiting for team comp.
I want animes that the group was hand picked or sorta by the main character. I don't even know if this exists, but I just thinking about One Piece but it would be better if more serious(but doesn't needed to).

Things I've watched so far, and my thoughts:
- FMA: Brotherhood -- LOVED this one. I loved the complex story, characters and deeper themes.
- Death Note -- Another beginner's entry, but very good.
- Madoka Magica -- I enjoyed the all female cast, magic system and plot twists. I didn't watch the follow-up series or movies. Just the original one.
- Little Witch Academia -- Another one with an all female cast. I loved how quirky this one was.
- Frieren -- My all time favorite!! I've watched it maybe ten times. The animation is beautiful, and I love how slow and soothing it is. Love the lack of fan service, the fantasy setting, the pacing, and how complex and flawed Frieren is as a character.
- Apothecary Diaries -- I enjoyed this one. I liked the mystery element, the historical setting, and how unique MaoMao is as a character. The romance was a fun element.
- The Ancient Magus' Wife -- This one kind of lost me. In theory, I should love it. I enjoy monster romances, magic systems and world-building. There's a lot of discourse around this one, but the age gap and human trafficking elements didn't really appeal to me.
I'm open to almost anything, but I'd love a fantasy/historical setting. Preferably not too much fan service. Romance is nice, but I'm also alright without it. I'd prefer a complete story, and not something with a million episodes.
Does anyone have some suggestions? I'd love to start something new instead of doing a rewatch of Frieren again!

Ive watched kaguya sama, toradora, and the basics along with a bunch of other ones but ive only enjoyed the unique ones that aren’t just basic “loser/neet/gamer/whatever meets cool/athletic/popular girl and they fall in love?!?” Like ones with any actual substance in them yk? I’ll give more detail in the comments if you need

So hear me out, this is going to sound weird af, but I don't really care anymore. You can laugh. I'm 43 yo dude, who recently watched "Bloom into you". BIY devastated me emotionally so hard that it's been a week and I literally can't stop thinking about it and it gives me... feelings, like a LOT of overwhelming feelings.
So I'm trying to figure out why. It may be because I'm in a very weird place emotionally, or maybe it's just top notch coming-of-age story and this trope is always what really spoke to me emotionally, or maybe it was just me connecting with some tropes in the series etc. Or because there was no male protagonist and it was a girl-on-girl story and I've never watched setups like this before so it was a novelty effect. I'm really trying to figure out why all of a sudden random anime series I watched pretty much by accident gave me feelings so strong like nothing past 20 years or so.
So for that reason I have to watch something equally good with boy and girl to check if it would still work on the same level. Because being in an emotionally weird place and having a massive soft spot for coming-of-age stories is one thing, that being the fact that it was specifically about girls is potentially a whole other... thing to consider, but as of now I don't have a clue which one is it so I need to watch the best melancholic, bittersweet, coming-of-age hetero romance lol
(I don't really watch anime besides a couple of horror stuff, so whatever you can recommend I probably haven't seen it)

I'm looking for some good adult anime recommendations, particularly ones available in English dubs. I enjoy genres like thriller or psychological dramas, but I'm open to anything you suggest.

hello! I’m looking for anime where the character has a secret identity or power that they have to keep from the majority of the cast for one reason or another, but the viewer knows. bonus points if by revealing it, they risk putting themself in harms way. I watched kaiju no. 8 a few weeks ago and I couldn’t get enough; it’s my all time favourite trope and a guilty pleasure of mine.
I specifically like shows where a person in a normal world has some sort of unnatural power, like in saiki k, but I will literally watch anything with this storyline, even if it’s garbage—though I’d prefer you give me your best first.
what I’ve seen, in very loose order of how much I enjoyed it:
- saiki k
- steins;gate
- trigun 98 (read maximum; dropped stampede)
- code geass
- kaiju no 8
- death note
- ergo proxy
- assassination classroom
- welcome to demon school iruma-kun
- attack on titan (still need to finish it)
- charlotte
- my hero academia ?
- ajin
- spy x family (only watched season 1)
- parysite
- eminence in shadow
- tokyo ghoul
- mashle
- solo leveling
- berserk of gluttony
- irregular at a magic school (dropped)
- iseleve…………..
also yes, I’ve played persona

For context, I'm a little new to anime, I'm not really into high-action stuff, and my favorite animes so far are Frieren and Sailor Moon. I also like studio Ghibli, but I'm more into shows than movies. Does anyone have any recommendations for shows that are similar to these?

I've just watched Laid-back Camp and Super Cub, and am looking for something similar. A show that finds peace and beauty in the mundane aspects of life with minimal drama.

Im looking for good anime to watch that are slice if life/romance. They can be action or some fighting if need be but I want something more with a story and real character growth. Something like fruits basket, frieren. If it has to have some fan service. Just no harem or girls half naked. Maybe something like SAO or shield hero when it comes to the romance if its not a typical slice of life
r/Animesuggest • u/Wonderful-Purchase94 • 2d ago
examples of this: midori days. i didnt watch it because its kinda old(dont like the artstyle) and was wondering if theres romance animes with a ridiculous premise but more modern looking?
im willing to accept mangas too

I was just thinking about how ridiculously good the Naruto cast is. Like you can go from Yahiko, Nagato and Konan to Sasori and Chiyo, then Shikamaru and Asuma, the sand siblings, Jiraiya etc. And each of them have their own stories that could genuinely carry an entire show.
I dont think people appreciate how crazy that is. Even characters who barely get screentime have so much going on. And the way all their stories tie into eachother makes it even better.
Idk man I genuinely cant think of another anime with a cast this good. And theres so many characters I havent even mentioned.

Title says it all, though to get a little more description in, looking for something akin to an orphanage or maybe boarding school. BUT, grounded as possible, no magic or demons or sci-fi. And especially no horror, really want something sweet and fluff, but also hits you with emotional gut punches. Maybe a show like "Restaurant to Another World" or "Tsuredure Children" where it's ten-minute segments where it focuses on each kiddo/group of kiddos, I'm talking like an absolute massive cast.
Not sure if this anime I'm thinking of even exists, and if not, then well shoot. Was in the mood for something fluff but emotional, something like "Anohana" or "Your Lie in April."

Hey guys! I finished all 3 Mononoke movies and the show. I NEED more! Someone recommended ayakashi- japenese horror stories has been recommended to me but u cant find it on any streaming service I have. The movies were better than the show imo and I love the story lines, animation and characters.

Ok so I love tsundere romances, but I want to spice things up a bit with something where the classic tsundere bullying goes too far and there are consequences and it's not just a gag. The romance should eventually work out though.
