Why do we tolerate so many things for babies/kids and judge people who tolerate similar from their pets?

I’ll explain.

I kiss and snuggle my pets. I like kissing my cat’s paws (because it’s soft and warm and adorable) and I allow my dog give me kisses (aka lick my face, weirdos). I am judged as “ewwww, do you know where their paws/mouths been?!”

I actually do, and do you know where your baby’s hands were? Literally, everywhere. Dirty floors, phones, their butts. Like come on, it’s no cleaner than my cat’s paws. Yet you kiss their hands and booties and okay with that. Because “they’re a baby”.

Same for the mischief. If an animal breaks something, barks, misbehaves, pee elsewhere, you punish it. When a baby does something out of it, you are like “oh well, they don’t know any better.” So an animal, that is a different species with habits of the wilderness should know better but a kid who can understand the language and society rules shouldn’t.

Make it make sense please.

Yes, she’s my fur daughter. Yes, I can love her as much as a human child. Yes, she’s spoiled and will be allowed things you don’t think should be allowed.

Can someone help me identify what kind of truck this is?

Please can someone help me identify this car, I know it’s not much to work from but I have a suspicion of what kind of car it is but I want to see if everyone got the same thing.

I’m still shaking and heartbroken tonight my family dog Daisy was murdered . My family were outside with our dog. It was across the street and my daughter was calling her to come back home. A white car had let daisy pass without issue and she was half way home but out of nowhere a black truck sped up and crossed the median to run over my precious daisy . (I’ll send photos and have a full video) It was unprovoked, there was no reason for them to cross the median, there was no car parked on the side of the road. This is a lunatic that did this to our family dog in front of both of my children. My daughter is experiencing shock and my son who is autistic is not acting like he did before , he is non-verbal and cannot speaks his feelings trying to comfort them as much as I can but I too am grieving. I called the police unfortunately they cannot do anything about my dog but my children where there and when he swerved into our Daisy. I don’t want to release the full video but in the photo you see the small dot in front of the truck… that’s my Daisy just minding her own business when she was murdered. Please help me this person cannot get away with this.

Update 10/14/2026
Still no new news still tried to canvas up and down but people either weren’t recording or the camera was too far from the street to get a better view. I’m not gonna quit I still have a Dr’s office and ice cream shop down the road I’m hoping that they are okay with letting me check their cameras. But Daisy’s killer will still be found, I’m also driving my wife through our neighborhood to see if we can find any truck that match the description and take photos and match with what we got but so far no real matches came through and there is not a single Toyota Tacoma, dodge Dakota, or GMTs at all in this neighborhood. Either he does not live here or he is hiding his truck. But as my wife and I discussed this street is not a street you’d drive through unless you drive it regularly so he is bound to get comfortable and come by again and I’ll be sure to catch him. Also I got a camera for the front of the house to record any cars that pass by so if he passes by I’ll have footage of it. Thank y’all for the support keep sharing with anyone you know please!

Also, as I have wondered myself: why do they have square pupils in the first place?

I only know of two other 'titles' that are similar to beast of burden which is:

Bird of Paradise

Bird of Prey

I primarily just think these are cool; are there any other collective nouns like this? Ones for other animals.

This is a video I made about whether animals are conscious. I discuss five indicators of consciousness, and I argue that mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish are all likely conscious.

EDIT: For those saying Hogs. I don’t think any wild hogs live in Pennsylvania minus the occasional escapee from local farms. I believe I’ve narrowed it down to skunks or raccoons. Tis wild how much they’ve torn up my yard.

Thank you

There lots of animals (cats, goats, dogs, etc) where the domesticated species is said to have been domesticated several times throughout history in different parts of the world. which seems perfectly reasonable to me, but wouldn't those seperate occassions have to have started using varying species based on that location? So how could they all have resulted in one homogeneous domesticus species..?

How do you guys cope with the fact that 100 million sharks die from finning a year because it really bothers me. I made a simular post on r/sharks.

Qué otros animales me recomiendan dibujar?

A cute keychain and a statue 3d printed hand painted and I think absolutely adorable, I I love using the static for grass effects haha

I have heard of rover and it sounds super fun and I wanna do it. I need the extra money. I heard that there is a start up fee I don’t love that. I get it’s for the background check. If anything do you guys suggest any pet sitting job platforms that don’t require that startup?
