General /r/AnalogueInc Mod Rules Note

Hey guys, it's been a while. Just going to keep this short and sweet.

I've been inundated over the last couple of years with people asking for more moderation. I have purposefully been mostly hands-off, and only moderated severe violations (links to ROMs, severe user harrasment, etc.) but based on some of the stuff I've seen recently, things have gotten a bit worse, so I'm going to change things a bit.

Firstly, I will enforce moderation more strictly. All existing rules apply, but if I'm on the fence, instead of erring towards "let them figure it out", I'll just remove stuff.

Second, I've seen quite a few posts that are sus recently. Posts of pictures to scalpers or other sales of products, which are designed to look like you're complaining about the scalper, but really it's most likely a covert sales tactic. In the spirit of the original moderators "No sales, ever" rules, I will from now on remove any content that gets reported that has links or pictures to any sales platform like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. You can of course still share links and photos of the Analogue official website. In addition, don't be cheeky and post a photo of your hardware and then say "but I might sell it, idk". I have always let that slide, but since people have wanted more moderation, this is one change I am going to make.

Third, and this isn't new either, harassment rules apply to all your fellow active Reddit users. Yes, even if that Reddit user is a public figure. Do not harass people.

Finally, I'm planning to bring on additional moderators in the near future since all the other mods besides me are now inactive.

Thanks, that's it. Feel free to leave your thoughts and your complaints below.

General Let's keep the Analogue 3D overclocking compatibility spreadsheet updated!

All credit goes to u/phan148

He posted this a few months ago and people were quick to help sort out which games run better on Unleashed and what to watch out for.

Analogue 3D Overclock Compatibility List

I noticed it hasn't been updated much since then. I tend to check it every couple weeks when I start a new game. If you've put a good amount of time into a particular n64 game and can confidently comment the changes Unleashed mode brings or if you'd recommend NOT overclocking it for any reason, please contribute your findings!

There are still hundreds of games out there that haven't been formally documented!

3D Why would the "virtual controller pak" only work with the Nintendo Switch Online N64 wireless controller but not an original controller?

I like the fact that they added support for the Switch Online n64 wireless controller, but why would the "virtual controller pak" be exclusive to that specific controller? At the end of the day they are using software to save it on the system instead of an actual controller pak. They could probably program it to also work with original controllers.

Considering an original controller pak can roughly hold 16 game saves, it would make sense if they just supported it for all controllers with a toggle in the menu.

General Has anyone's Dock shipped yet?

I know they said 2 weeks, but I didn't actually expect it to take 2 weeks to ship!

*Edit* Just got my shipping confirmation. I guess all I needed to do was complain about it! lol

3D Cruis’n World patched to run at 320x480 - 640x480 with Analogue3D Horizontal Enhancement + Unleashed OC, Widescreen (HUD updated for 16:9) AND 3-4 player sound fix to allow music to play!

Inspired by the other patch for Cruis'n USA, with the help of AI, the game has been patched for widescreen (similar to GameShark widescreen) however the HUD has also been repositioned and aspect ratio updated to account for it. The doubling of the vertical resolution is also added for the Analogue3D Horizontal Enhancement to allow 640x480.

Finally, the original reason I even started this was to enable music functionality for 3+4 player mode. I was very surprised loading up this game on my Analogue 3D to play 3 player and be greeted by complete silence. Turns out there were multiple issues unique to Cruis'n World preventing audio here. First, a bug in the audio library where instrument priority values were set incorrectly, allowing SFX to steal voices from music which goes mostly unnoticed in 1-2 player but becomes severe with 3-4 cars worth of SFX. Likely because of this, Midway also set a flag to disable music entirely in 3-4 player mode. Enabling music back without fixing the priority bug results in choppy, broken audio, so both issues have been corrected, the voice count also increased from 16 to 32 to give music enough room alongside four cars worth of SFX, and the audio rebalanced for 3-4 player multiplayer.

I'd love to do a 60 fps patch for the game as well but for now this has everything to make it play excellent on the Analogue3D I have created an experimental 60 fps patch as well that includes the other updates all in one. DM if you'd like this one as well and please report any bugs!

There are three BPS patches included and a Read Me for specific details:

- One sound fix only (this should work on real consoles but I have only tested on Ares)

- One for emulators (Sound fix + 16:9 + Widescreen HUD)

- One for the Analogue 3D (Sound fix + 16:9 + Widescreen HUD + Vertical Resolution Doubling)

Cruis'n World Patches MediaFire Link

Note: To avoid a fully squished look for text elements in the game, a 1px stretch was applied vertically to almost all text sprites and a 1px vertical spacing to any multi-line rows of text. If this really bothers someone, I can produce a patch without this added and it'll just look squished/stretched (As it does when you use GameShark/emulator 16:9 stretch).

Patches are for Cruis’n World (USA) only. BPS patches will verify your ROM automatically before applying.

Mega Sg Selling Hyperdub Mega SG

Hello, would anyone here have any advice regarding selling a Hyperdub Mega SG? I have one opened but in near perfect condition and I’d like to sell it. Unfortunately I’ve had some unexpected expenses (home ownership is a bitch sometimes).

3D Analogue 3D not working

Received my Analogue 3D today and having a lot of trouble. First my computer wouldn’t recognize the SD card from the console. (Don’t have an SD card reader, probably get one) Figured I should set up the console first but it came with a faulty power adapter that would just turn it on and off repeatedly. Used my Switch 2 one which worked but can’t get it to display an image on two different 4k tvs and a monitor. Tried changing settings and different hdmi cables but couldn’t get it to work. Tried to see if I could update the SD card again but now the green light won’t display when holding the reset button and then the power button. Any ideas what I should try next?

3D Cruis’n USA patched to run at 320x480 - 640x480 with Analogue3D Horizontal Enhancement + Unleashed OC

This turned the 320x240 original into a patched 320x480, which the Analogue3D then turned into 640x480 — it runs very well with Unleashed. Could the Analogue3D force both horizontal and vertical enhancement on all games?

General Announcement this week?

I could have sworn I saw something here on Reddit that said Analogue is going to make an announcement this week but can’t find the post. I checked their website since they typically post a message saying an announcement is imminent but nothing so I don’t know the legitimacy of the post. Anyone happen to know if they’re truly making an announcement?

General Will we ever get 2x upscale for Analogue 3D?

Personally I don't use the Horizontal upscale so much. With the clear filter it looks a bit weird, because horizontally you got more pixels but not vertically, so it looks a bit uncanny. Altough I must admit it looks fantastic with one of the TV filters like BVM.

But I just can't help and wonder if we are ever going to see a 2x resolution scale, essentially adding the vertical axis to the existing horizontal one. Or is the 3D not powerful enough.

3D Modern ‘Pro’ N64 controllers in 2026 Stick Test #1

Thumbnail gallery
21 Upvotes

I am comparing the top N64 ‘Pro’ controllers for 2026+. They are the Nintendo NSO N64 controller, the 8bitdo 64 controller (Bluetooth edition designed for the Analogue 3D (A3D)), the ModRetro M64 Pro controller (designed for the M64 using the stock gate (will try N64 gate later!)), and the Retrofighters Brawler 64 Pro (2.4GHz). This first test is exclusively about analogue stick values but I will be doing many more tests!

I did include some older options to show the differences, which are the older wireless Retrofighters Brawler 64 Ultra Edition and the Retro-bit Tribute 64 Ultra Edition (both use 2.4GHz). You can see their values are too high, making them feel too sensitive. While they were good wireless options back when new, I would advise NOT getting these versions as they are simply not as accurate as any of the newer options! Do they work? Yes, they do and casual users may not notice but once you play games like 007 Golden Eye, F Zero X and Super Smash, it’s very obvious!

The NSO N64 and 8bitdo 64 would not let me hit A on the mimi controller test ROM on my A3D (will test on the OG N64 and see if that makes a difference) so I used an older version as well but the values all show the same either way. Eventually I will compare to some OG corded N64 controllers but the first tests are to compare new options!

With all that being said, pictures attached show the results! I updated the M64 Pro and 8bitdo 64 before testing, the NSO N64 doesn’t update and the Brawler 64 Pro doesn’t have any yet. I will go more in depth on the software aspect in later tests but the short answer is the M64 Pro is nice because you can just use a browser to update it without downloading specific software, the 8bitdo 64 requires software (easy to use at least!) and the Brawler seems to be a drag/drop style update but will review if/when it has an update.

The stick on the NSO N64 is the only ‘traditional’ N64 stick that isn’t a GameCube style, but the M64 Pro controller has an extra N64 gate that I will swap to and test later, but the stock gate is the same shape as the 8bitdo 64/Brawler 64 pro gates and had the same values! All the values seem good on paper and none feel off. Hopefully I can swap the M64 pro gate before I start doing game tests but everything stick wise works out of the box with all of them and none required calibration.

Initial response when holding each controller are this…

NSO 64 controller feels almost 1:1 the OG, the stick feels firm and nice but doesn’t use the same technology so theoretically it can start drifting so you may need to buy more later on!

The 8bitdo 64 is a nice alternative if you don’t like the trident, nothing feels cheap and the metal ring around the stick was a nice touch. They are similar price so if choosing between these two, I would decide based on if you want a modern layout or a trident style!

The M64 Pro controller feels absolutely premium, with the coated metal backing and shoulder buttons that let your fingers rest comfortably in them. If you love the trident style, you’ll love this! The weight is substantial and heavier than both the NSO N64 and 8bitdo 64 controllers. It comes with a cord that allows you to use it on a OG N64/A3D wired, but the battery still needs to be charged… a bit silly but a very minor thing especially since ModRetro included an adapter that lets you use AA batteries! This is a very comfortable, modern trident that I could see myself holding for hours without any issues but the feel of the stick is GameCube style so it may be hard to change your ways after 30+ years of N64 gaming…

And finally last but definitely not least, the Retrofighters Brawler 64 Pro is like an upgraded 8bitdo 64 controller. It is heavier than all the controllers, even the M64 pro! The angles the grips are in comparison to the 8bitdo 64 make it even more comfortable, there is texture on said grips too, and the L+R+D pad have mechanical feeling switches, very clicky and satisfying! The only obvious issues are no metal ring around the stick like the 8bitdo 64 has, no N64 style gate like the M64 came with (requires installation and recalibration) but it does come with faceplates! I personally don’t see myself using them but it’s a feature it has! It also has programable back buttons like many modern controllers that let you customize your way of playing. They have switches that physically disable them if you don’t like them. I personally don’t see myself using them on N64 but it could be nice if using on PC!

So my feelings after test 1 are this…

The NSO N64 still feels the most classic, the 8bitdo 64 is the on my friends use because they hate the trident (they are wrong!) and for the price, it’s nice to have a controller that won’t have the same stick issues as the N64 has over time. The M64 Pro controller feels ultra premium so I could see myself using it when casually playing but I still need to test the stick/N64 gate on games… if it’s as good as it feels… this could potentially be my new main controller! The Brawler 64 Pro will be my choice when playing casual on games I’m not so familiar with (hard to unlearn trident controls after 30+ years) because it is so comfortable and the clicky buttons are very satisfying! So far, all are good options… once I do more testing, I will rank them and tell you which ones are worth buying and which are worth skipping! Honestly, so far they are all worth it for me and all feel like upgrades from any older third party options!

Tell me what you think, what other tests you want to see and which one you would use!

Pocket 8bitdo Help Wanted

Last edit: not sure why I was downvoted BUT for anyone finding this during future troubleshooting please look at the thread linked below! Turns out… the instructions listed on 8bitdo’s website>Analogue Dock>2.4G controllers>SN30 are just flat out incorrect. Not sure why this would be excusable but here we are.

Edit: I am 99.99% issue here is the controller not being recognized as a drive. All instructions I’m following fail there. On multiple computers using multiple cables in multiple ports. The controller is flashing blue and yellow but it must not be in “update mode”?

Hi all, really could use some help.

New SN30 2.4G purchased ahead of my Analogue Pocket dock delivery and super excited about it. My understanding is that I need to download the specific firmware from the 8bitdo website. I have followed all the instructions step by step and done all troubleshooting I cant think of.

I hold L+R+Start to get the blue and green flashing lights and no matter what my (and 2 other people’s) computers do not see it as a drive AKA “update mode”. What do I do? Does it need this update to work with my Analogue dock?

Super Nt Ppl often ask if Super NT will be remade and it likely won't. In the meantime RetroRemake is working on their own SNES system

I got their PS1 SuperStation earlier this year and was impressed and that uses a real Mister. The cost was reasonable too. I expect the SNES to be similarly well made. I think their founder Taki Udon might also be working on a DS handheld clone too.

Even if you’re strictly an Analogue customer, competition is still good and should help force them to compete with prices, quality, and product catalog.

3D Anyway to continue my current DK64 save with a tag anywhere hack on the 3D?

I'm about a halfway through DK64 and as a kid the system of swapping out Kongs didn't bother me, but as an adult I can't stand it. Is there a way to get the tag anywhere hack onto my 3d and still use my current save? I never use romhacks or anything and just play off regular carts so I'm not sure if this is feasible or how to even go about doing it on the 3D. Thanks for any help!

Your Analogue 3D Majora’s Mask Memories just became editable.

I’m releasing Majora Memory Studio, a free Windows tool for editing Majora’s Mask Memories captured with Analogue 3D.

What can you edit?

• Hearts, magic, wallet rupees, bank balance and ammunition.

• Inventory, bottle contents and all 24 mask slots.

• Learned songs and your custom eight-note Scarecrow melody.

• Collectibles, temple items and documented game progress.

It includes a change-review screen, separate-copy export, and English, Spanish, French and German interfaces. No Python installation required.

This is PUBLIC BETA 1.2.2. Feature availability depends on your game revision and capture state. Complete USA/PAL/Japan compatibility is still being developed and tested.

Got an Analogue 3D and Majora’s Mask? I’d love your help testing it. Tell me your game region/revision, what you changed and what happened after loading the exported copy.

Download the Windows ZIP under Assets, extract it and run the executable.

No ROMs or game saves included. This edits Analogue 3D Memories, not arbitrary emulator or flashcart save files. Keep your original Memories as backups.

What would you change first: masks, hearts, or the Scarecrow song?

3D My 3D Arrived!

My Analogue 3D arrived yesterday! I stayed home from work to spend quality time with it that day, I do not regret it one bit; my co-lead in my sub department held shit down with our crew like a boss and I was free to nerd out like when I was a teenager.

I got it before noon. I was so excited to get it started and update the OS to 1.5.1 or whatever it is. It was quick and easy and then I went through my cartridges and got all of them "registered" in my library. Playing with my 8BitDo 64 controller feels fantastic as well! That was a great purchase and I'll absolutely be buying 3 more!

Yesterday I had 11 games with one of them still being factory sealed. Today I have 12 because my copy of Nightmare Creatures arrived in the mail before I got home from work.

I have some searching left to do for the other cartridges I want to get my hands on, but I just wanted to say that I'm so happy with my purchase and I'm glad I can now retire my original N64 to simply being an item in my collection.

This feels really good, reliving some of my youth.

Accessories SummerCart64 GB Question

I seem to have lost the microSD that came with my EpicJoy SummerCart and when I got it I replaced it with a branded card and my own ROMs. I'm stumped trying to find info on playing GB and GBC games on it, could a kind soul point me in the right direction please?

Edit: it's things like are there emulator type files I need, if so where to put them and any folder structure details and ROM filetypes it requires, cheers!

Edit Edit: Typical for me, I found something right after posting https://menu.summercart64.dev/docs/18_emulators.html
