I crocheted this while I was sick and I think it turned out sloppy. Is it okay or scary?

Based off a video the client sent me. Supposed to be similar to the mystery box squishy toys.

IYKYK

I used plastic rings for the larger circles, and metal rings for the smaller ones. I do not have children - are there safety concerns?

Straight Color Change?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I am trying the color change method from this video and am pulling my SC straight out instead of to the right to avoid a slant, but the line is already wonky right off the bat. Does that color change method work only because the color change shifts? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to make the color change line straight?

Finished Object Football Commission Piece

Opened myself up to a handful of commissions, and a friend asked for Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.
I am NOT a fan of sports, generally speaking.

Couldn’t find a pattern with shoulders or a helmet that I liked so I made my own πŸ˜ƒ

I had to make the helmet twice. πŸ™ƒ
I used markers for the logo, and on the original helmet I applied a diluted glue+water mixture to the inside of the helmet that caused the ink on the outside to run.

On the second one I applied the diluted glue FIRST and let it dry before adding the logo.

The face-guard is just wire-wrapped yarn.

I’m pleased with how the helmet turned out and my friend LOVES it. So I’m happy!
(Even happier to get back to more fun/weird stuff)

Finished Object First pumpkin, and it's a plushie!

Post image

Just completed my first ever pumpkin as a plush for my daughter, and I want to rave about how nice the yarn was! I used the knitcraft by Hobbycraft Plushie Friends yarn in Rust, and made the stem using their Everyday Chunky in Rust.

Dodgy name choices aside (the orange is NOT rust πŸ˜‚), the Plushie Friends was SO nice to crochet with on an 8mm hook.

Used a free pattern from Hobbycraft https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/ideas/how-to-crochet-pumpkins.html, but change it slightly to give it a more asymmetric look!

My first attempt at the Lofty Mouse by Oak and Marlow!

I really enjoyed making this little cutie! There are definitely a few things I’d do differently next time, and I can already see where I could improve my technique, but I guess that’s all part of the learning process.

Discussion There are Amigurumi books on HumbleBundle at the moment. Anyone familiar with the books?

I am interested in getting started on Amigurumi but haven't started yet. I saw these books available on Humble Bundle and I was thinking of getting them. I see the individual patterns are available on the Amigurumi website, but I thought it's for a good cause and I might see some items is like to try.

Has anyone used these books before? What is your experience with them?

I was playing yarn chicken with the embroidery floss for the letters. They look crooked in the pic but they're not. I really did not enjoy crocheting with unworsted embroidery floss, would not recommend (pearl floss is okay though). But it does glow in the dark and the cap is magnetized.
