Some Holster Recommendations

A frequent question this subreddit sees is, "Which holster do I use?"

The below is not meant to be all-inclusive but should immediately assist folks in finding holsters, at least as it pertains to the Romulus and S15. The list will be updated as Alpha Foxtrot releases new products.

The listing was generated by searching this subreddit (although there is one that is on the r/2011 sub - I included it since it has a weath of information in that particular post).

Also, keep in mind that almost all of the holsters mentioned in the below links are generic holsters. If you want pristine fitment, you’ll need to find a holster maker that specifically designs for these guns.

For the Romulus:

For the S15: UPDATE: The AF Attila will fit into the same holsters that the S15 will fit!

New Purchase New polished gen 2?

Post image
20 Upvotes

Got my first 2011, I was looking for a metal grip Romulus until I seen this polished gen 2. I didn’t know they made gen 2s with the polished dlc. I liked the polished dlc but did not want to deal with rsmc. Although it’s a fingerprint magnet it looks slick. 1300 OTD. Only downside is it is a pressed comp. I was looking into getting into comp shooting. Hoping to run a sightblock before running into open. The owner was also confused why a compliant barrel made into AZ. So I believe he is going to make it right. Cyelee wolf on temporarily while I wait for an SRO, still debating on tlr1 or x300. Rubber band while I wait for the miller grip safety delete. The grip itself isn’t as bad as people make it out to be, then again it leaves a lot to be desired. Looking forward to shooting it, also getting a steel grip, EGW internals, marvel cut, DSC goodies in the future. I do believe this is the best 2011 for the money getting into the 2011 space. Tried all the others, Tisas, Mac, girsan, kimber, fusion, even a platypus and the Romulus was still the smoothest, tightest tolerances, “cheapest” out of the bunch with the comp barrel leaving a lot of potential.

Romulus; Magwell or No Magwell?

To preface this; I come from single stack shooting. I do have a magwell on my single stack 1911, but its flush with the grip, not flared. My reloads are smooth, and relatively quick.

I got a Romulus last month and I love the gun, but have always felt like the magwell kinda crowds my hand/makes my grip a little awkward eith high thumb rest safeties. I feel like just playing around without the magwell on it feels more natural to me. I dint have large hands either.

Has this been a thing for others running OEM romulus grips? I also have an aluminum Kimber grip im currently fitting and its the same way, more comfortable without the magwell. I feel like if im so used to a tight single stack reload, a doubke stack should be even easier with or without a magwell.

Thoughts?

A little trigger mod on the Attila frame.

Trigger was too long for my liking so I cut it down and gave it a paint job. 100 times better for me now. Also got the take up and reset perfect. She really loves now.

Request for help/advice Remove stripped trigger guard sleeve screws

These have been a pain in my ass. Just trying to switch over to the aluminum grip, and I wasn't able to get the trigger guard sleeve screw to budge, and eventually ended up stripping one. What is the best way to get these out, especially considering how small they are? Already ordered replacements, but trying to figure out how to get the old ones out while I wait.

In case anyone was wondering

I know i went cross eyed reading what would/wouldnt/could work with a Romulus wearing an X300 and optic. Received my Safariland 6354 RDSO for Staccato XC/STI/SV yesterday and the Romulus fit like a glove. Only "mod" needed was to flare out the thumb safety area solely because I have an oversized thumb safety on mine and it rubbed a little bit. But yes, they drop right in. Just in case anyone was looking for one, or whatnot.

Request for help/advice Dumb question on 124gr NATO

Any reason I couldn't shoot 124gr Winchester Nato outside of it being filthy? I have a bunch of it left from breaking in my Ap5, which i only shoot subs out of.

Probably dumb, but the Romulus can shoot Nato slec ammo, right?

Pic for attention, just added/fitted the AGW high shielded ambi over the weekend and optic. Ready to play on sunday.

Attila Slide Issue (?) Help

Hey, just picked up an Attila, used, from my LGS a couple weeks ago.

Took it to the range and put probably 100 through it and it fired like a champ. It did start failing to lock back on a dry mag but I’m not overly concerned about that.

Now, any time there’s an empty mag in it the slide won’t lock back when pulled to the rear. Additionally, pulling it to the rear I can pull it further back than the slide stop. It seems like I can pull the slide back further than it’s intended to go?

Anyone run into this issue?!

Thanks!

Smooth, smooth, smooth. Installed a red dirt Flat trigger and the damn thing feels like a mouse click. A friend of mine sent me a brand new Chameleon Flex since he upgraded to an RMR and I gotta say its actually really nice so far. He also sent me an AGW Shielded Ambi safety thay needs to be fitted, and an aluminum Kimber grip which is SO close to fitting, it just needs to be filed a teeny bit. But thats a project for another day. Will be running this at a steel match on the 18th, and im stoked.

This is my first 2011. I’ve put about 700 rounds through it - 115, 124, 147, defensive rounds - it’s been perfect. Highly recommend.

Camera angle is shit my tripod was short today lol sorry!

I was on the west side of the state today for work so I decided to stop in to pickup an in-stock DLC coated double comped brick from Dave at DSC GUNWORKS in Holland, MI. I wouldn't want to be next to me tomorrow at the indoor range.

Big thanks to the community for helping me track down a vendor with inventory!

So far all I've done is get it stripped down, deep cleaned and lubed, but so far I am pleasantly surprised.

Very smooth and tight lock up compared to my 3.5" ported Romulus. The aluminum grip is pleasantly aggressive for me out of the box and the DLC slide looks slick, slide serrations are very functional and the tri top is my favorite style. I wish they offered a blanking plate that would keep the tritop design consistent for those not mounting an optic. Id happily buy one if offered by AF.

Sights are blackout rear and nice green tritium dot up front. Perfect for CCW. They appear to e fairly low snag in design, which is awesome for something almost small enough to pocket carry.

This is my first AF without an apparent QC issue out of the gate, it's got a very nice trigger and reset and overall very tight build quality.

It's tighter than my Rommy, and the thumb safety didn't fall out when cleaning it, so it's leaps and bounds better QC, which is showing improvement as a company.

I'm definitely swapping it out for a traditional single side safety, but for once not because it's junk. Both sides are fairly crispy, and I feel they will break in nicely.

Fit is good, but they left some sharp edges which is to be expected at this price point. I'll be dehorning the sharp edges after break in and review.

The firing pin return spring is QUITE stout compared to all my 1911/2011s but that's not a bad thing on a CCW gun if dropped. The firing pin appears to be slightly lengthened, perhaps to address some of the light strike posts I've seen? Not sure, just a theory.

Color me impressed so far.

I haven't done a deep dive looking for MIM parts yet, but what I see so far they have definitely stepped their game up. I have no issues myself as many of my guns have MIM parts, some much better done than others. I don't feel the need to swap them, but I see people bring it up in some reviews, so it's worth mentioning for those who are looking at one.

Cleaned a bunch of snot out from storage, including the firing pin channel and will be detail stripping the frame before I call it perfect. It had little to no lubrication out of the box, which is to be expected since it's new.

Something I didn't realize from reviews and posts here is how well secured the comp is. The reverse plug and recoil guide rod lock the comp after it's rotated into position. Quite similar to how Shadow systems does their CR920XP comps, minus the lever.

I would love to see AF adopt the tri lug design like the shadow, but it's plenty stout and had some beefy lugs. I may end up opening up the comp a bit later on as I really dig chunk port comps, but will be running it as it came for the duration of the review.

I'll be doing a in-depth review on my channel, but so far this is firmly heading to my keeper pile. It scratches the smaller size 1911/2011 itch, and feels almost as good as my Hi-powers for balance and how it feels in my hand.

If it proves reliable, it might make it's way into my carry rotation, though I don't see it replacing my shield plus carry comp for true EDC.

So far it's impressive. I've passed on several of the previous gen S-15s due to various fitment/trigger/safety/QC issues, so I never had one I was happy with enough to buy and test.

I wish AF would send 2-3 mags with the gun, but it is what it is.

At some point I'll be mounting an RMSc optic as I feel they fit the width of the slide better visually.

I'm really looking forward to putting this through the paces in the upcoming weeks.

I'm also doing an in-depth on a shadow 2 carry and p-09c for anyone who might be interested. Channel is ETA Wheels on YouTube.

I'm happy to answer any and all questions and will be updating this thread as the review progresses.

Romulus 3.5 Ported Recoil Spring

Hello everyone, I been enjoying my Romulus 3.5 ported and I was considering getting the DPM recoil spring for it. When I was comparing the DPM to what I had in the firearm already, they looked very similar so I was wondering if anyone knows if I can just get replacement springs for the DPM and just use it that way? Or if I can just get recoil springs from the other sizes and just cut them down? Only reason I was looking at DPM was because when I googled Romulus 3.5 recoil springs, the DPM kits were the only ones that's showing
