I created a version of Cycles render engine for Houdini using the hdCycles branch by Christopher Hosken(cjhosken/hdCycles) and Claude. It is super responsive! Some of the features don't work at the moment but still this is promising! Really excited to finish it and then use it on an actual production!

Will be opensourcing it as soon as volume rendering starts working!

Is there a viable MCP for Houdini? By "viable" I mean, acceptable for commercial use in pipeline projects?

Just an ethical disclaimer since this is an early post on this sub: AI is a tool. It's just a hammer, and not every problem is a nail. It's everyone's prerogative as to what constitutes a nail.

To me, as an artist, it's along the lines of never using AI for things I can't do by hand. And, recognizing AI is categorically incapable of human creativity.

So what's left? Houdini is sometimes tedious to use, and writing python or hscript is not a particularly creative process. Neither is integrating Houdini into a complex pipeline. That's just work you do in service of Art.
