I have played the main series, and almost all of the first investigations game, and I think each finale brings something unique to the table so I like to rank what each is best at specifically:
1-4: Best Antagonist; Number one Manfred lover over here, he literally made me piss my pants, he made me think I was going to lose a visual novel, actual insanity.
1-5: Best World Building; I love the world of Rise from the Ashes, I love how everyone is guilty at least a little, I think the fact that everything is corrupt and you slowly have to uncover that to slowly uncover the past to slowly uncover the present murder which seems to be a walking contradiction. Great use of the world to intertwine with the murder mystery.
2-4: Best Tension; This case makes you question what the moral choice to make is, to lie to protect, or to fight for the truth and maybe get Maya killed. Truly a great time for Phoenix to question this, considering most cases to this point have been morally simple (always fight for your client no matter what).
3-5: Best Writing; this is the best case of the series, no gimmicks, no tricks, it literally just announces itself and never wavers. I can’t do it justice here so I won’t try.
4-4: Best… Cuck Moment? I don’t know; Despite being named ‘Ace Attorney Apollo Justice’ the game has a whole lot of Phoenix Wright doing absolutely everything. And it feels weird, until the end, and we can see the mad genius Phoenix has turned into. It is then you realize: the game was never about Apollo, it was about witnessing Phoenix’s madness from someone else’s perspective. Oh and Kristoph is incredible.
5-5: Best Single Reveal: if you’ve played you know it, my jaw was on the floor.
6-5: Best Series of Reveals: my jaw hit the floor multiple times in a row, even more impressive. Both 3D AA games truly master the element of shock and awe that Takumi seemed to be more timid to go to, at least in comparison.

Apollo Justice had its problems, but by god Phoenix was not one of them.

Revolution — what can I say, like the characters and the chaos for the most part

TGAA2 - 3: The Return of the Great Departed Soul

Honestly, the closest any of the games has to a near perfect case that isn't a two parter.

The overall setting of the case is inherently alot of fun, being a murder with a sci-fi device.

You really get to explore and feel immersed into TGAA's London. and the hijinks of the wax museum were just a delight. But it's not to the point of taking away from the later heavy undertones.

But the best part by far is Enoch Drebber. Legit the best villain, if not character, in all of the TGAA's Duology for me. Compelling reason, great design, solid personality going back and forth on cold robotic apathy to a harsh burning rage, and a great story both before and during this case.

There's honestly soo much to say about this case.

My only gripe with the case is Courtney Sithes. For a person who was part of the inner circle of the wider Professor cospiracy, she was basically introduced at the start, then suddenly was important in the last 5 mins and we're all done with them afterwards.

Really feels like they should've had a few cases before this to really cement their character to make the twist all the more better. But at least their daughter KINDA picks up the slack a bit in the next cases.

I love 4-4. The vibes of something shady is going on just hits well. Vera is a great defendant, I love Drew studio's vibes. I love Phoenix and Kristoph's dynamic. Spark Brushell is just the right amount of helpful and funny. Trucy as a child is way too cute. The past trial was great and Zak's exit is just so memorable. The mystery is pretty good in general. The mason system was an interesting mechanism that I really liked. Only thing I dislike is Meekins, sorta.

5-5. Its just so good...

Cliche answer, but there's nothing that can top bridge to the turnabout. Everything about it, from the plot points like dl-6 and the terry fawles case , to the investigations and that incredible confrontation on the third day. It's such a satisfying ending to an amazing trilogy, and I don't think anything will top it.

Either bridge to the turnabout or turnabout for the ages, both are so fantastic. Hard to pick.

if i had to answer i'd say farewell, my turnabout because maya's the focus (despite not being there) and turnabout for the ages because eustace

i pretty much love every case equally tho cause i care for characters more than plotline

I’m only on T&T right now, but so far I think my favorite is Farewell, my Turnabout

This series has a lot of great cases, but somehow I always find myself gravitate towards the second case of Justice For All, Reunion, and Turnabout. There is something about it that I really like. From the set up, the trick, and the culprit - they are all very compelling. It's the perfect blend between zany characters and tragedy. It's great as a standalone, as it is not too long or too short. It's great as a build up case that connects the first game and the third game. There are other more complex, more grandiose cases than this, but this one is my favorite.

The last cases from all three OG Trilogy Games (Including both Turnabout Goodbyes and Rise from the Ashes btw) are incredible

Wanted to figure out what was my favorite was, specifically when ignoring final cases just to make things more interesting, so I looked at the last tier list I made and it's... Reunion, and Turnabout?

Not what I was expecting, but I really respect past-me's choice. That case has one of the best confession themes/scenes in the series.

Turnabout Beginnings is a perfect bridge case (ha!). It both builds upon what T&T established in characters and cases as well as masterfully guides us to the epic finale that is Bridge to the Turnabout.

Dahlia’s evil is expanded upon, we explore Godot’s past relationship with Mia and we come to understand why Mia was so shook by her first case and why she has such personal hatred of Dahlia.

This case sets up the Iris Question so well as it leaves you with such a shocking ending that evokes such distaste for Dahlia. The question of whether I could trust Iris was always filtered by the tragic death of Fawles and my lasting hatred of Dahlia’s personage. A reason why Mia’s put down of Dahlia at the end of 3-5 works so well is it’s a continuation of the battles they had when they were both alive. Mia’s failure to save her first client because of Dahlia’s treachery and her relationship with Diego give her a fury that is satisfying to watch.
The final case even takes place in the same area, serving as a constant reminder of 3-4’s echoes.

Completely agree with all of this. As much as I love 3-5, I absolutely cannot replay it without starting up 3-4 first.

Farewell My Turnabout. I love Bridge To The Turnabout too but imo Farewell is just better in every way.

It’s pretty high up for me. It’s my third favorite matt is also probably my favorite villain

Turnabout Legacy or Turnabout For The Ages. Some of the best cases and they're both from the same damn game which is crazy

Also: you're unfathomably based for choosing Turnabout Samurai. That case is so underrated, it just drags a bit too long; didn't need to be 3 days

Turnabout Goodbyes

Edgeworth is my favorite character and this is his the culmination of his arc in the first game. This is when he started becoming the Edgeworth we all love. Plus Manfred Von Karma is such a great final antagonist for Phoenix and a dark showcase of what Edgeworth could’ve become.

u/EndlessNocturnal 7h ago

Farewell my Turnabout. I can elaborate, but one main reason is Adrian Andrews. That is all.

Rise from the Ashes. Had the best assistant I ever worked with on a great high-stakes case.

Either 5-5 or i2-4

partially due to nostalgia, but 1-4 and 1-5 are definitely at the top of my list. I absolutely love Phoenix and Edgeworth’s dynamic in them.

Also this is such a random one but I loved 4-3. Or maybe I just loved staring at Klavier for a while.

AAI: 2.5

I just love the set up of "Simon" / Simean and what the case implies with the assassins and everything.
It isn't perfect, but man, it is so good.

"Farewell, My Turnabout" is absolutely my favourite one out of the PW trilogy (maybe just comparable to the final case). It keeps the tension in such a good way and I love all the twists of it. The reveal of the killer is probably the best - there is this great sense of being powerless that I don't think the series ever replicates.

Oh boy, feel like the opposite is easier to answer than what my favourite is. If we are talking about the original trilogy, then Cases 3- 5; the new trilogy is Cases 6- 5... The twist with Dhurke got me... Like it got me so bad, I was not expecting the outcome with him.
