Jeremiyah Love missing practice due to lingering ankle issue

https://arizonasports.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/jeremiyah-love-missing-practice-due-to-lingering-ankle-issue

Excerpt:

“As much as he wants to battle through, we’re all in agreeance right now as just give him a little bit of rest and see as the week goes on what that will entail for Sunday,” LaFleur said Wednesday.

The head coach added it is not the same preseason ankle issue Love dealt with.

Depending on how Love gets through the week, veteran running back Tyler Allgeier could be in for a larger role against the Los Angeles Rams.

Everyone knew a rb at 3 for us was stupid but the rumors were that we wanted to trade back for picks and a tackle but didn’t have takers. I fully expected a season like jeanty had last year and I would’ve been happy but of course we can’t even get that

Even if that’s the case just stay and take the tackle. Insane mismanagement.

What tackle?

Mauigoa has been a guard for NYG. A lot of teams (including Arizona) viewed Spencer Fano as an interior player due to his shorter arms, despite him finding early success at RT in Cleveland.

u/Sundevil13 BA 4h ago

Mauignoa is a guard for now because NY has established tackles. I think long term he’s a RT. fano as you said is already playing pretty well. Either would be better because even a decent tackle is a better value than an elite running back when we are paying Love this much relative to his position.

Of course a tackle is better value, but if the Cardinals didn’t see either of them as tackles then the point is moot.

If the team thought that they could play tackle, they would’ve taken them over Love.

The underlying point is that the cardinals ability to evaluate, project, and select players in the draft is and has been lacking.

I don’t care if it was stupid. I’m still glad he’s here. Mike B is an asshole what he does to this team but I’ll never not want talent.

No shot they didn’t have any trade partners for pick 3. Even if there wasn’t interest Arvell Reese or Sonny Styles was a layup pick

It’s honestly insane we can’t even get Jeanty numbers , like how do you draft such a bust it’s insane . Now out of 7 picks we made this year I can confidently say they we would have been better of not having any , none of this idiots we selected will amount to anything for this team

Got homeless people blocking in front of him but okay dude for sure.

Why is everyone quick to blame Love here? We have an absolutely dog shit line in front of him. Where’s he gonna run? There aren’t holes. The only holes are in Bidwills pocketbook when he goes to invest in his lines.

u/Mental_Funny_5885 8h ago

Because clearly 5 games in he’s a bust and no one had him even listed as a first rounder! And we only have him this year, it’s not like he’s locked up on a multi year contract where we will have time to build a solid line! We were so close to the Super Bowl before this pick!!! /s /s /s

Haha for real. I can’t tell you how lame it is our fan base keeps blaming players and coaching.

This is a president and GM issue. The fans need to rally around the #BidwillOut message and donate to getting billboards up that let him know we all think he’s a dumpster nepo rag.

I dont blame love at all for this being a terrible pick.

2

u/apcol123 5h ago

#4 Love on a red jersey , I’m sure that’ll be the top selling jersey for Valentine’s Day - Michael Bidwill probably

2

u/TheSkullsOfEveryCog 8h ago

I also don’t see “everyone” blaming him

1

u/Torrikk Cardinals 8h ago

You need to place blame on the Bidwill family

You’d expect 1 good game out of 5 .

Bijan had 124 yards on 19 carries in his second ever game

Jeanty had 138 yards on 21 carries and 3 TD’s in his fourth game

Barkley had 106 yards on 18 carries and 1 TD in his debut

Gibbs had 152 yards on 26 carries and 1 TD in game 8

These are the “breakouts” player drafted in the Love range had in their rookie season

Meanwhile Jeremiyah “ bust “ Love has never had a game with 100 rushing yards or <5 YPC

Putting it into retrospect with how other players in that top 10 are doing

Mendoza N/A he’s getting redshirted , Bailey week 5 AFC DPOW , Love , Tate 9 for 145 in a game against the Raverns , Reese week 4 NFC DPOW , Delane 4th ranked CB by PFF has 1 INT and 3 PD in 3 games , Styles DROY watch 1 Sack 1 INT and 1 FF , Tyson N/A injured , Fano 23/72 T with a 70 PFF grade , Mauigoa 68/75 G with a 48.3 PFF grade . Love is the second worst player in the group only behind Mauigoa and we took this dude at 3 . The only players who’s way more disappointing than Love is Bain who fell out of the top 10 .

u/Torrikk Cardinals 7h ago

bro lol stop. this is the cardinals organization we're talking about here. You seriously can't expect Love to get 100+ yards behind a line full of literal homeless people.

-3

u/apcol123 7h ago

If Tate can get to 145 with Cam Ward at QB , the “blue chip” Love is should get a 100 yard game on 20 carries . How are you defending a guy that hasn’t had a 20 yard rush in 5 games ? He’s as much as a bust as you can be through 5 games .

2

u/Cabbages24ADollar Cardinals 7h ago

There’s no OL. None. And we’re in a division and our schedule has some of the best DL’s in the league.

0

u/apcol123 5h ago

I don’t trust it , good HB make OL look good , Love isn’t a good HB and he was the third overall pick

4

u/Sensitive-Hand-37 8h ago

Just sit this man until he's healthy why keep going out there and not doing anything but aggravating his unhealthy ankle. We all wanna see him at 100% so stop throwing him out there at 85%.

5

u/Whit3boy316 7h ago

I was against a RB at 4 but now Just gimme something to believe in

3

u/Schopenhauer_pes 6h ago

I expected more. But context matters: Just a tornado if bad luck. First the ankle injury, then the oline is down to two starting level players.

At least on see the quickness and strength like the stiff arm for the td in his first game. But it should be his level on every carry. It was not But he is cintacted behind the line of scrimmage a lot and turns it into positive yardage...

2

u/Distinct_Pangolin_37 Cardinals 6h ago

They should just sit him until he’s fully healed instead of risking more damage. Let Allgeier and Knight take over. It’s not like we’re winning the division or anything.

4

u/apcol123 9h ago

Can’t believe we took this guy over Reese man , I hate Monti so damn much

11

u/buddaaaa Kyler OROY 9h ago

Everyone on this sub shit all over Reese 24/7 pre-draft and even local media was saying, “you can’t take another off-ball LB in the first round again.” But he’s a monster. Bummer we took the worst position to take high in the first round and then he’s injured and we can’t utilize him correctly

4

u/Open_Muffin5137 8h ago

Because most people in this sub think they are geniuses with hindsight. If we could draft with hindsight we’d have a 20yr dynasty.

1

u/SelfinvolvedNate 8h ago

stop with the hindsight stuff. There were tons of us saying Reese over Love before and leading into the draft.

1

u/Open_Muffin5137 8h ago

Ya and OL and trade back for whatever since there was no distinct must draft at #3. But to post this now just because Love is working through injuries and Reese happens to be doing well is a bit suspect. Happens all the time. Most everyone was excited about Bisontis until he was injured which makes him a bum and we should have picked someone else.

1

u/buddaaaa Kyler OROY 4h ago

It’s not always hindsight. There were plenty of people criticizing the Love pick and who preferred Reese at the time of the draft.

Just because those people are proven right over time doesn’t necessarily mean that their current analysis is hindsight.

0

u/apcol123 7h ago edited 5h ago

Him and Bailey are getting DPOW and we’re stuck with a HB that tells the coaching staff to play other guys instead of him , I can’t believe Love is such a bum man

3

u/ultgambit266 Cardinals 9h ago

Granted I didn’t want them to take Reese because of the comps to Simmons, I wanted them to take one of the olinemen or Bain jr, but Bain jr has struggled a lot and I feel like the linemen have been decent. Love may have been a bit of a reach, but I only say that because he’s not played as well as we’d hope, but to no fault of his own

1

u/phicks_ Larry Fitzgerald 8h ago

I REALLY wanted Bain Jr too lol

1

u/SoupOfThe90z St Louis Cardinals 9h ago

So we’re already at that part of the season, huh. Well… I want to us to build up the trenches…

1

u/Mental_Funny_5885 8h ago

I hope to God they do. I’m not shitting on this pick if the new GM builds a good line around him next year.

2

u/SoupOfThe90z St Louis Cardinals 8h ago

It’s like every season, this is what we say. Monti got on it but didnt hit on any of the players.

1

u/apcol123 5h ago

The Saints have invested like 2 firsts into 2 T and their OL is dreadful , the Niners got 3/4 rounders + Trent Williams on the line and are insane , the Rams got 2/3 rounders on their line and they’re more than fine , I guess you could say Seattle spent like 2 firsts on OL and are doing good but even then we had a chance to take Zabel and decided that bum ass Nolen is better and now one guy is a SB champion and the other is a bust that doesn’t even have like 10 pressures . Seattle at the same pick we picked Nolen a year before took Byron Murphy a guy who’s likely a first team All Pro this year . Klayton Adam’s was the real gem this org has produced and he left to become OC for the Cowboys , I really don’t understand why this team didn’t try to get a guy who had us run the ball at a 5 YPC rate over the guy in the McVay system who wasn’t even calling plays , Klayton Adams had a great run scheme and would it would of helped Love a lot but instead we got another idiot named Mike because Bidwill wasn’t enough

1

u/Distinct_Pangolin_37 Cardinals 1h ago

Adams doesn’t call plays in Dallas, Schottenheimer does. Regardless, you’re right in that Monti has been dreadful with his draft picks

1

u/Typical_Chocolate323 Budda Baker 7h ago

It’ll turn into a 10 week thing for some reason

u/LITERALLY_SODEM Paris Johnson Jr 9h ago

This is when drafting a RB 3rd overall hurts more. A good 25% of our cap space goes to a guy whos not even projected to reach 1k SCRIMMAGE yards. I think we are the only team in the NFL with 2 backup QBs and 3 RBs

2

u/Bold814 8h ago

You know the NFL salary cap is 300 million? Are you under the impression Love is making $75m a year?

19 teams have 3+ QBs on their 53 man roster.

29 teams have 3+ RBs (Cardinals only have 3).

Lots of wrong in your comment.

-1

u/LITERALLY_SODEM Paris Johnson Jr 8h ago

I was exaggerating. We have 3 RB that would we starting. We have 2 QB that would we backups.
