I'm an AP Psych teacher. I built a free study app with no gamification and no ads.
I teach AP Psych, Gov, and US History. A couple years ago I started paying attention to what my students were actually doing on their study apps and it bothered me. Games everywhere. Ads everywhere. We tried all the apps for review. My students would remember enough for the test, then dump it all after.
So I spent the last few months building an alternative. It's called Rycal. It’s pretty simple. One thing on the screen at a time and nothing competing for your attention. No points. No streaks. No ads. No paywall.
It uses FSRS for scheduling, which is a real spaced repetition algorithm. Each flashcard comes back right before you'd forget it.
There's also a blank page recall mode. You write everything you remember about a unit, and it checks what you actually retained instead of what looked familiar. Plus a test planner that maps your studying across the days you have left, and FRQ drills with self-scoring rubrics. The multiple choice and FRQs are written to the actual course frameworks. 23 AP courses so far.
It's free and you don't need an account to try it. rycal.web.app.
Here's my ask — try it and tell me what's wrong with it. Broken, confusing, missing, ugly, I want to hear it. Comment here, DM me, or use the feedback form on the site. I'm the only person building this, so every bug report lands directly with me. TIA!

A psychology and mental wellbeing platform to explore
I've helped review and provide feedback on PsiQApp, so I'm connected to the project.
One thing I find interesting about the platform is that it isn't approaching psychology purely as a therapy-booking service. It brings several things together: psychology communities, professional profiles, educational resources, and an AI guide.
There's also a dedicated experience for psychology students and creators, which I think is a useful direction. It's still an evolving platform, and I'd be interested to hear what other people think about this kind of approach.

Would you prefer a dedicated psychology network, or do you think these features work better as separate products?

I made a free 3D brain game for AP Psych
Hey everyone! I teach AP Psychology and have been building Brain-Course. I made a little game called Brain Lab that I thought might help with the brain section of the course.
You can rotate a 3D brain, pull it apart to see the structures inside, and practise finding the different areas. There are also questions about what those areas help us do and what difficulties might arise if they're damaged. The idea is to connect the names to actual examples, rather than just memorising a labelled diagram.
There's an Explore mode if you want to look around first, plus Practice and Quiz modes when you're ready to have a go.
It's free to play, with no account required and no time limit. Signing in is optional if you'd like to save your best score.
Try it here: https://brain-course.com/brain-lab.html
I'd love to hear whether it helps, and if any questions or controls feel confusing. Hope it's useful for your studying!

What book should I use if I want to self-study?
I'm seeing a lot of Barron's and Myer's, and am wondering which one is better? Or should I buy the five steps to a 5?

Psych Survey
Hi! I'm working on a Psychology project about locus of control (how much people feel in control of what happens to them) and how people respond when they see a fight at school.
The survey is 12 questions, takes about 2 minutes, and is completely anonymous and voluntary. I don't collect names, emails, or any identifying info.

Thanks so much for helping out.

Does anyone have a free PDF of Myer's AP Psychology textbook?

Does anyone have a free PDF of Myer's AP Psychology textbook?
I am currently self-studying the AP Psych course, and the PDF I was currently using (3rd Edition Myer's) completely stopped loading altogether. I've tried using it for the past two weeks and it won't work at all. If anyone has anything to share, that would be so helpful! (I can't afford to buy the whole textbook and my high school uses a different type that has 13 units and not a lot of structure without a teacher).
If you have alternate solutions, please help! Anything helps! :D

Self Studying AP Psych - How long should it take me to study?
I decided to self study AP Psych since I already took Psychology the year before and its only 5 units (6 including unit 0).
The slight issue is that I recieved my classroom code a bit late so I'm currently still writing down notes for Unit 0😅 I heard that AP Psych is an easy AP to self study and doesn't take much time, so how long did it take for you guys to study all the units? And is it easy to get a 5 as everyone says?
I like psychology alot so that would probably make taking the AP easier for me :']
