Leaks Season 2 may make cannon changes (leaks discussion) Spoiler

So with the leaks there’s a few things that might deviate from cannon

**First is Lady Vaith having a dead child with Aegon who is buried at Vaith and this is how Dunk insults her*\*

Season starts in Dorne. Aegon and Dunk reach House Vaith and Aegon petitions for hospitality which lady Vaith reluctantly agrees to.
She’s an old bitter woman who is irritated by children and Aegons very presence. It is here Dunk and Aegon find out King Daeron and Valarr Targaryen have died. Aerys is now king. One evening Lady Vaith calls upon them for dinner. Lady Vaith reveals she was a former mistress of King Aegon and harbors love for him still. Dunk has a heated debate with her and says his bastards nearly destroyed the realm. Lady Vaith explodes in anger and says one of his “bastards” (her infant son with Aegon) is buried at Vaith. They’re thrown out immediately.

Aegon is irritated that Duncan couldn’t compose himself and they’re facing the dornish heat as they can’t find another house to grant them hospitality. Chesnut collapses and dunk/egg try to save him but are unsuccessful. Aegon breaks down over the death of King Daeron and Valarr.

**Second is the dream that Duncan has occurs much earlier in the story.*\*

Duncan is feeling guilty over his failures. That night Duncan has a dream he and Egg are digging a grave for Chesnut while Ser Arlan, Baelor and Valarr mock him. The grave then swallows up egg.

Dunk and Egg travel by pole boat to rest thunders legs and arrive to a market. Here they buy passage to old town. During their voyage, they encounter iron born raiders.

**Third is that Aemon Targaryen is the one who gives the ring to Aegon not Maekar.*\*

In oldtown, They visit with Aemon Targaryen who reveals that Maekar and Aerion stopped by before Aerion went to the free cities. Maekar leaves Aemon his ring.
A huge plot point is that Aemon gives Aegon Maekars ring as he left Aemon with it. Maekar actually has a ransom out for the return of Aegon. He never gave him permission to leave. Aemon also gives them a mule who Aegon names Maester.

**Fourth centers around the Blackfyre rebellion flashbacks. Addam is struck in the chest and whatever this flashback with Bloodraven is that could change cannon.*\*

Eustace Osgrey tells Dunk the story of the Blackfyre rebellion. There is a flashback centering on Addam Osgrey who is struck through the chest. Eustace reflects on loosing his sons. The other Blackfyre flashback in the season focuses on a young Bloodraven/bittersteel.

**Bloodraven is a huge part of the season. He’s built up a lot and he wasn’t apart of the second book at all.*\*

While in oldtown, dunk encounters two men hanged with crows circling. They were suspected of being traitors.

Septon Steffon has a private conversation about the great spring sickness with Dunk. He mentions Queen Aelinors prayers for an heir, bloodraven and his many spies, Maekars fued with Bloodraven and the Prince rhaegal. He also recounts the deaths of Rohannes husbands. Steffon says the infamous line how many eyes does Bloodraven have “a thousand and one”
Dunk begins having nightmares of crows.

**Dunk has dreams of Rohanne*\*

Dunk also has a dream of Rohanne running naked through Wats woods while he protects her from arrows. He awakens to find panic that the wats woods are burning. Everyone blames Rohanne.
Eustace privately tells Bennis to finish burning the crops (which reveals the fire didn’t come from Rohanne but Osgrey himself and Bennis) if Dunk looses the trial. Dunk sends the villager army away and tells Egg he will not let farmers die for two nobles.

**Bennis tries to kidnap Egg to collect on the ransom*\*

Bennis secretly infiltrates Rohannes castle and captures Egg. He reveals he knows he is Prince Aegon Targaryen and intends to return him to summerhall and collect the ransom. Aegon attempts to fight him off but is no match because of his size. He nearly kills Egg in anger but Rohanne stabs him in the back and he collapses. Egg cries into her arms and she says he will not have same fate as Addam.

**Dunk and Egg reveal their lies to each other*\*

Duncan and Egg have a heart to heart when Egg reveals Maekar never gave him permission to go with Duncan and Duncan tells him he was never really knighted. They promise never to lie to each other again.

Fun post TIL there was a real arranged battle to settle a dispute in Scotland similar to the Trial by Seven only it was 30 vs 30 and it was attended by the king

I understand this might be considered off topic and if judged to be so then go ahead and remove. But I thought it was very interesting and worth sharing with you lot. It's fascinating that these kind of battles were an actual thing and one of these likely influenced/inspired GRRM in writing the trial of seven.

Meme [Book Spoiler] Unpopular opinion:Ser Duncan

Post image
109 Upvotes

There is some discussion and maybe slight spoilers about the novellas below.

I know the popular theory is that Dunk was never actually knighted but after reading the novellas I just dont agree.

Dunk’s honor is probably his biggest character trait. The guy is constantly risking his life to do what’s right, even when it makes absolutely no sense. I have a hard time believing he would carry around a lie that big, especially about something he takes so seriously.

I think people are mistaking his discomfort for guilt over lying. This is “Dunk the Lunk, thick as a castle wall” we’re talking about. He’s a poorly educated kid from Flea Bottom with no noble blood and nobody alive to vouch for him. He knows he was knighted but has absolutely no way to prove it.
Then there’s the whole Raymun Fossoway situation. People point to Dunk hesitating to knight him as proof he’s lying. But think about it. His own legitimacy has been questioned repeatedly, now he’s being asked to knight somebody from a noble family. I think he feels guilty about potentially putting Raymun in the same situation he’s in. Why would he want Raymun’s knighthood questioned when Lyonel Baratheon can do it and nobody would think twice?
Plus look at his mental state at that point. He’s about to fight in a Trial of Seven, people are risking their lives because of his decisions and he’s probably questioning everything that’s happened.
And the argument about him not remembering how to knight somebody? Again, Dunk the Lunk lol. You really think it’s that crazy that he doesn’t remember every word of a ceremony performed by his dying mentor?

The biggest thing for me is we’re inside Dunk’s head throughout all three novellas. We hear his thoughts and doubts but never once does he outright admit he wasn’t knighted.
I don’t think Dunk questions whether he’s a knight. I think he feels guilty that everyone else does and he has no way to prove them wrong. Especially when it could affect somebody like Raymun. His honor is constantly being question which creates this huge internal struggle.

Maybe the irony isn’t that an unknighted man becomes one of the truest knights in Westeros. Maybe it’s that one of the most honorable knights in Westeros constantly has his honor questioned.

Show Discussion Reasons I Don't Like AKOTSK Spoiler

Okay so I finally binged AKOTSK. I saw all the love for the show and especially episode 5 online. People were saying it was amazing. And I have to admit I really enjoyed the show up until episode 4. I thought the beginning of episode 3 was a little slow but the ending was really good. And episode 4, I think, is the best episode of the show. By the end of episode 4 things were picking up. And I couldn't wait for Dunk's trial.

But then all that momentum was flushed down the toilet when they decided that we have to watch a SUPER LENGTHY flashback. And don't get me wrong, I understand why they put the flashback there. I get it. But placing it in-between the trial just hurt the pacing of the show for me. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. And the rest of the show just didn't hit for me.

I don't know, I just wanted to share my review. I guess it's just not for me.

Edit: To clear some things, no I don't hate the whole show just because of a poorly positioned flashback. I can see how the title can be misleading. For me, personally, the flashback hurts the show's pacing and therefore its re-watchability. I just think if the flashback was positioned better and edited to be a little shorter, the show's pacing could've been A LOT better.

I loved this line in episode one, and had to paint it along with shooting stars. There are two stars on the inside of cup that align with the star above "luck." This is my first time making a goblet and the squat, simple form felt fitting for this setting. I'm excited to try more!

Spoilers [All Content] SPOILERS FOR A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS Spoiler

I really like Dunk, but I have to say this about Tanselle.

Dunk literally put his entire life on the line for this girl. He knew Aerion was a Targaryen prince, knew exactly how dangerous the situation was, and still stepped in because he believed that was what a true knight was supposed to do.

And honestly, that was one of the most knightly things we've seen from him.

But then Tanselle just... disappears.

That's it?

Dunk risks everything to protect her, gets himself dragged into an absolutely massive mess, and Tanselle is basically gone from the story.

I'm not blaming her for what happened to her. She was the victim, and Dunk absolutely did the right thing by standing up for her.

But it still feels a little frustrating from Dunk's perspective.

This guy barely knew her and was willing to risk his **life** for her. He didn't know whether he was going to survive the consequences of standing up to Aerion, and he did it anyway.

And what makes it even better is that Dunk wasn't expecting some great reward for it. He wasn't thinking about becoming a hero or getting anything from Tanselle.

He saw someone being mistreated and thought:

“I'm a knight. I have to do something.”

That is what I love about Dunk.

Meanwhile, Tanselle really just said “well, goodbye”and vanished 😭

I know she didn't owe him anything, but I still wish the story had given us more of her after everything Dunk went through for her.

Dunk deserved at least a little more closure than that.

Baelor's not bad, but Maekar's got that rugged handsomeness, and the jawline, haircare routine, slick black robes. As a straight guy, I'm jealous and I'd low-key hit that shit (with respect)

How some House of the Dragon exposure made AKotSK better

Title is a bit misleading. I didn't like House of the Dragon. I tried several times. I went into A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, hating Targaryens, same as pretty much every character in AKotSK. That reputation was well-earned. So, I suppose it enhanced the AKotSK experience--especially given the commoner perspective. Still can't get into the HotD, Tudor-like soap opera. Even a hobbit wouldn't be able to decipher that family tree. Can't really call it a tree. Trees have branches.

News According to Peter Claffey, in Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Dunk "tries his hand at diplomacy and finds out how difficult that is to work with.” Dunk also "fails at talking to women, multiple times again this season.” Overall, Claffey said there's "a lot more sadness" in Season 2.

Prepare for a tonal shift in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2. Peter Claffey told TV Insider that there’s “a lot more sadness” in the second season of the hit Game of Thrones spinoff, which wrapped filming in August. Season 2, premiering in the first half of 2027, presents “a totally different challenge for Dunk,” the actor said.
...
“There’s a lot more sadness to this story, I think, and it’s a totally different challenge for Dunk for sure,” Claffey told us. “The people that he’s dealing with are on a much less serious scale. You’re not dealing with your Royal Targaryens and people of King’s Landing, but he tries his hand at diplomacy and finds out how difficult that is to work with.”
One thing is still the same in Season 2, according to Claffey: Dunk “tries his hand and fails at talking to women, multiple times again this season.”
The new episodes are a “totally different task and challenge for him, but it was a lot of fun making it, that’s for sure,” said Claffey.
The Irish star was just at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards, where A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. “It almost felt like Dunk’s story reflecting my own life of going in and seeing all these amazing people that I’ve looked up to for so long,” he said.
“It was a lot of fun and to get to do it with Dexter,” Claffey said. “I just wish I had his confidence to go up and talk to people.”

I made an interactive Dunk & Egg map because I kept wanting to know where everyone actually was

I've been working on a fan project called The Known Realm, and the part I've probably enjoyed making most is the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms map.

The idea is pretty simple: instead of having one static Westeros map, you choose where you are in the story and the map follows along. Characters move, people appear or disappear, houses and locations can be explored, etc.

I also separated the show and book versions because I really didn't want someone who has only watched the HBO series accidentally getting book information dumped on them.

You can play around with it here:

knownrealm.com

This has mainly been something I've made because I love this world and wanted the kind of site I would personally use while watching.

If anyone here spots a location that's wrong, someone standing somewhere they shouldn't be, or something you think would make the map more useful, please tell me. I genuinely want the nerdy corrections 😅
