Modpost A clarification of the new Age Account and Karma Requirements
As some of you may have noticed, the mod team of r/ACValhalla has implemented a new policy regarding account age and karma requirements. While these changes have had zero impact on a vast majority of you, it has prevented some of our beloved posters and commenters from being able to freely engage in the sub like they used to. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience, but we have very good reason for having added the filters.
It is no secret that Reddit is a haven for bot accounts. Most of the bot accounts out there start off seemingly benign, just reposting material to build karma. There has been an uptick in bot accounts lately, some of which have already attempted to infiltrate this sub. "But Red, why would they do that?" you might be asking. Simple - after these bot accounts generate enough karma to post in most subs, they get sold off to advertisers or scammers. Once this happens, they go from benign reposters to aggressive OF accounts, romance scammers, etc. By implementing the account age and karma filters, these bots are prevented from using this sub in their infancy to build their karma, or from looking at the user list and sending unsolicited DMs. There are plenty of subs out there have been overrun with bots, and we will not be one of them.
Unfortunately we cannot disclose with you, the public, exactly what the age and karma requirements are. Doing so would be akin to posting operating hours on a business - the bot controllers would know that after gaining X karma and reaching Y age, that they could infiltrate this sub and become a nuisance. For your sanity and ours, our AutoModerator is now programmed to automatically remove posts and comments from users who do not meet our fair requirements.
If you are one of the users that has been affected by the new filters, we deeply apologize and hope you understand our situation. Most of the removed posts and comments have been from users with low karma. We understand there are some of you who have been active in this community for some time, and suddenly find yourselves unable to do so. If that is the case, please respond in a polite and civil manner to the modmail that you are sent. The mod team will be happy to help guide you in building your karma. Unfortunately we cannot bend the rules on this, as making an exception for one means we would have to make an exception for all, which negates the usefulness of the installed filters.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused any of you, and we thank you all for your patience. Skal!

Question Game only works when switching drives
My game only works for one session immediately after moving the game files from my SSD to HD drive or vice versa. Only one session, with no hiccups or anything, then as soon as I close the game and try to start it again I get the splash screen with the game's logo and nothing else, just stuck there for hours, so then I move files again to another drive, rinse and repeat.
Things I tried already:
verify files
reboot PC
reboot steam
reboot ubisoft
run steam as admin
run ubisoft as admin
reinstall game
reinstall ubisoft
turn off nividia overlay
clean reboot pc
turn off ubi connect before starting
turn on ubi connect before starting
log off ubi
network reset
change power setting
change graphics setting

Question I need to stop assuming.
I wanted to upgrade my settlement and what I got was from raiding, so I started river raid. Maxed out my cargo and my vinnings. Then it was time for the buildings. Apparently. It is a different material than what you get on raids. lol. Oh well, then I will raid the store then. But…
I do like raiding, there is one map I have two of three gear. I have raided it since but it doesn’t appear. Is it bugged or is it random if there is gear?

Question New to gaming. How do I actually reach the Books of Knowledge and gear on the map?
Hey everyone, I'm completely new to gaming. I recently bought a PS4, and AC Valhalla is only my second game.
My problem: I can see Books of Knowledge, gold bars (Wealth) and armor icons on the map and through the raven, but when I get close to the location, I can't find them.
I googled it and found out you usually can't reach them directly. You have to find hidden entrances, breakable walls, keys and so on. That's pretty tough for me since I'm not used to games like this.
Any tips for finding this stuff more easily? Also, any general beginner tips for Valhalla on PS4 would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Recommendation Best bow for fishing in the shop today!
Khotan Bow is available in Reda’s shop today!
For those who don’t know, this bow is the GOAT for fishing, as its arrows have a chance to proc an aoe that kills multiple fish at the same time!
Now’s your chance to make the fishing challenges trivial. Go for it!

Question Gender differences
Anyone that has played as both male and female Eivor, is there a noticeable difference between male and female version? I am thinking about a second play through as the female version.

Discussion Kinda knew to Valhalla
As the title says im kinda knew, saw ac valhalla was on sale with mirage (the bundled game one) and decided to get it cuz why not, so far im enjoying valhalla a lot purely because there's just so much to do, the combat is fun the river raids and roguelike as Odin is super enjoyable as someone that likes roughlikes.
As a fan of ac 3, black flag and unity i thought I wouldn't enjoy valhalla because I just kept hearing bad things about it but I said why not try it and im having fun, yes the stealth kinda bad if you dont think "very realistic enemies" same with the parkour that can be lacking in some parts but if you play it as it is then its super fun.
Very happy to have it and im hoping to get it as my 3rd platinum ever, even if it takes 400+ hours

Stuff That’s Neat Fire Parry
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
We all know how fire buildup works. Typically, when your weapon is ignited, each attack applies fire buildup to your enemies. Naturally, a standard parry dishes out this same base amount.
What the game doesn't tell you is that Parry Damage and Perfect Parry (both Bear skills) each add their own stack of buildup to a single parry. In other words, if you have both skills unlocked, a perfect parry with a flaming weapon inflicts 3 times the normal fire buildup compared to a normal strike.
This allows you to fully ignite most enemies in just 1 to 3 consecutive parries while simultaneously incapacitating them. After that, it's just a matter of topping up the fire, which takes only a single strike.
Interestingly, an arrow that passes through fire becomes a fire arrow. And since your victim is already on fire, shooting them with a standard arrow instantly tops up the status effect and gives you back spent adrenaline.

Stuff That’s Neat Barred Doors (improved)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Right... So I edited my original post body twice in quick succession and Reddit flagged that as spam. But it worked out for the best because I've figured out a new way to save 1 adrenaline bar.
- Plant 2 Incendiary Traps, one on the door bar, the other within the explosion range of the first one. Make sure not to plant the second one so close to the first one that it immediately detonates, but not so far that it's out of explosion range.
- Shoot the trap that's not on the bar.
If you choose to detonate with a melee weapon, there's a good chance you'll trigger both traps. Just make sure that you make contact with the non-bar trap first.
You can refill adrenaline using rations if you purchase Master Chef from the Raven skill branch.
