Impact 78th floor of the South Tower.

Post image

The 78th floor or the sky lobby, also known as the "Gore floor" was the impact site of UA175, it was referred to as the gore floor because an estimated 200 people were packed tightly together in the sky lobby at the time of impact, only about 12 - 18 people survived the initial blast on the floor and escape. This is also the floor that Battalion Chief Orio J. Palmer and Fire Marshal Ronald P. Bucca reached, they unfortunately died in the collapse at 9:59 AM

Victims Officer Ramon Suarez was a selfless individual who was always willing to help someone in need. On the morning of 9/11 Ramon hailed a cab to the WTC and entered 1WTC to help rescue people. Ramon was last seen re-entering 1WTC before it collapsed to rescue a woman who was unable to walk. Ramon was 45.

Memorials I remember watching a couple 60 Minute specials that describe the 'Wall of Faces' 9/11 exhibit as a sacred space for the victims and that taking photos in this part of the memorial is not allowed and a museum rule. Why do I find more and more photos from inside this part of the exhibit?

Are there times where the 9/11 museum allows this for certain special reasons?

I find it highly disrespectful thinking that people secretly bring in their smart phones and record or take photos. I feel as though the 9/11 Memorial and Museum needs to restrict cell phone use from this exhibit by having visitors leave there cameras/phones outside until they've reached the end of the exhibit. Idk, just seems the more respectful way to go about things.

AA11 / UA175 / AA77 / UA93 The kids on flight 77 - what did their schools do after they find out one of their students was killed?

The 3 kids on the National Geographic trip and Zoe Falkenberg - they all went to elementary school. When did their schools realize a child from their school was a victim? How did the schools explain to the students what happened to their students/teachers? Were classes suspended?

(Yes I know there were other kids on 175 and 77 but they were probably too young for elementary school)

Victims Herman Broghammer loved people. His wife said,"You know how some people get crankier as they get older?" He never did. He was always that gentle, sweet person." And he took care of those around him." On the morning of 9/11 Herman attended a meeting on the 103rd floor of 2WTC. He was 58 years old.

this person's name is Ahmed Al-Huznawi Al-Ghamdi and he was one of the main suspects during the Twin Towers attack at 9/11, and I was searching for his tape since 2 months, it was streamed by Al-Jazeera in 2001 but unfortunately it got removed and also OBL's interview bc of the American-Qatari relations .

So if someone have his tape please send it in the comments below bc I was wondering what he was saying in the tape or the tape contents in general .

WTC Smell during the attacks?

It is a strange question. Tell me if I should rather delete this post, but I am sort of wondering about this.

I've heard somewhere that after the attacks the place was filled with a combination of smells. Obviously of fire and things burning, apparently of ozone because of so much destroyed electronics, and of course the smell of death.

But what was it like *during* the attacks? Could you smell something burning from the ground? Were there any other smells? Knowing that there was a fireball in at least one 1WTC elevator shaft, did it smell like fire in the lobby of 1WTC? These questions might be dumb, do please excuse me.

AA11 / UA175 / AA77 / UA93 What if Atta did miss his flight from Portland?

I keep wondering if Atta did indeed miss his flight from Portland if Sheihi would have continued with his plan or would they have called it off? Would the message have gotten to the other two as well?

AA11 / UA175 / AA77 / UA93 Why did Jarrah choose a flight from Newark?

Strategically it didn’t make sense because there is significant distance from Newark to Washington and even if there weren’t delays, they would have to hijack early enough and still travel to Washington. Honjour went out of Dulles and was successful. Why not perhaps fly choose a flight out of Reagan?

New Media Australian 'Sunrise' news coverage

Post image
134 Upvotes

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the correct flair to put on this or if this is even the right place to post it.

Basically, I have recently come into possession of a VHS tape of news coverage from the day of 9/11. I'm an Australian and the tape contains around an hour of footage from Australian morning show 'Sunrise' and then the rest of the tape is the NBC coverage from later in the day. I have had a cursory glance online and I believe I have found archives of the NBC coverage but I was unable to find the Sunrise coverage from my limited research.

If this footage is undocumented Im fairly certain I'm able to digitise the footage as I already have a setup for digitising from an old VHS-C camcorder I have. I don't see much of a point to digitise it if this footage has already been archived. Hoping someone here knows if it is currently publicly available coverage and I just suck at research.

Impact What if there were more targets?

I remember feeling so scared in Canada when it did happen. I was in the west coast at the time, but that day I felt like there would be more targets on both coasts that day. I know KSM wanted just that but OBL was more practical. What would have happened if it was literally an act of war in both countries? What would the impact and reaction be?

Victims On 9/11 Barrington Young Jr. was last seen tarrying to gather papers at his 84th floor office. Barrington's wife had a clear view of the WTC from her Long Island Office. His wife said, "I could see the flash when the second plane hit and when the bldgs collapsed. I wish it had been a cloudy day."

WTC The Scrapping of the Steel

Hi all,

Does anyone have the background story on who, when, why it was decided to sell the majority of the steel to foreign scrappers? And any background on how that debris was inspected and prepped?

This decision was made very early on. At the time, I imagine we all heard this, and maybe it didn’t seem necessary or even the best idea, but it it’s so much else happening, I know it fell off my radar.

But I compare how that evidence was managed vs evidence from a car accident where a lady ran a red light and slammed onto me (t-bone). It so happened that my birthday was 3 days before the car accident and for it, my parents bought and had installed a radio. My Dad asked if he could remove the radio and just put the factory one back in and police detectives would not allow this at all. I had to schedule time to go with police to the car to get my book bag and personal effects. That was all I could take. Everything else was being held as evidence.

So, it just seems like the scrap decision was quick and early and that nobody seemed too bothered by it, or at least anyone with authority to stop it.

Pentagon One of the most devastating 9/11 pics is of the 5th grade honor roll students & educators who were going to a National Geographic field trip in Santa Barbara. Flight 77 was en route to LA, hijacked, turned around back to DC, and slammed into the Pentagon at 9:37am as an attack on the US military:

Like Flight 11 and Flight 175, Flight 77 was another flight that was supposed to arrive at LAX that afternoon. And this one departed from Dulles International Airport at 8:20, the hijacking began about 30 minutes in the flight at around 8:50. The plane was then turned around back into the direction it came from, At about 9:34, the plane rapidly descended back into DC, and then slammed between the 1st and 3rd floors of the Pentagon only about 3 minutes later at 9:37 at a terrifying speed of 537 miles per hour. Everyone on board was killed instantly along with 125 others inside the building.

Just can't even imagine the fear of the kids in particular when the plane was flying at an out of control fast rate in its final moments. :(

The 6 students and teachers from left to right:

James Debeuneure, 58 years old.

Rodney Dickens, 11 years old.

Bernard C. Brown II, 11 years old.

Hilda Taylor, 58 years old

Asia Cottom, 11 years old.

Sarah Clark, 65 years old.

Also, two National Geographic coordinators:

James Ferguson, 39 years old, (Director or Geography Outreach for the National Geographic Society)

Ann Judge, 49 years old. (National Geographic coordinator)

The Pentagon Memorial with the 184 victims of the Pentagon attack as well, including the 6 students, educators, and two National Geographic members: https://www.pentagonmemorial.org/design-elements/

Impact What if Shehi or Honjour missed?

I know Shehi had a near miss and I wonder if it would’ve been physically impossible to turn back at that altitude. Would the plane have just crashed into the city?

With Honjour it required so much precision that he could’ve missed it too. Would the highway had been a target in that case?
