Bought a new 3ds xl Hyrule edition off eBay that wasn’t listed as dual IPS for $400. I had a feeling when I compared it to my other 3ds because there was a noticeable difference side by side. Just modded it today to confirm. Most thought it was dual tn or tops IPS only but my first photos were taken in the light so it may not have represented it best.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if there is any possible chance whatsoever that my bottom screen is IPS? I know it's unlikely, since it was brand new when I got it (Christmas 2018) and it's a 2dsxl, but I replaced my top screen over summer and know for a fact that it's a TN. I have checked luma, and it says both are TN, but the viewing angles on the top are atrocious whereas the bottom looks much better at all angles. Thank you for your help!

Hi, I'll be going to Japan in a little while, and while I was there I really wanted to get my hands on a duel IPS New 3DS XL/LL in Metallic Blue, preferably in good condition, and I was just wondering if anyone knew how rare these might be, any tips for spotting them, and where I might actually be able to find one. I'm willing to pay a little extra if it gets me a duel IPS model in the color I want in good condition.

I recently bought a New Nintendo 3DS Pokemon 20th Anniversary Edition from Ebay. The seller stated that it is a Dual IPS 3DS. I wanted to get a second opinion about this because it seems to be the case.

i only have a wedge 2DS so ive only seen on pictures and read about how it should look. I feel like the top screen is a bit washed out? Would appreciate some second thoughts.

Hey, about 5 months ago my 3ds ll i got from japan developed a case of pixel cancer :( it wasnt as bad as the pictures show originally, but after some time its become annoying due to it being centre of screen. Anyway have decided i should probably fix it now, because I can also do a shell swap at the same time. The problem is im not quite sure if i want to get another IPS panel like my console "claims" to have, or settle for a TN screen.

The second problem is where to source the screen. My current list is (for reference im from Australia)

1. Some form of screen from aliexpress.

2. A screen pulled from an original console I can buy on ebay.

3. Splurge and buy an IPS screen from ifixit.

Im leaning towards 1 or 3, because every screen i could find on ebay seemed to come with a $40 shipping fee, and at that point id probably go for the ifixit. So essentially im curious if anyone has any experience with aliexpress screens and what to look out for in regards to a good screen. The prices were really varied with them being $20 to $70 aud so yeah. Was also seeing some listing's with a conversion cable??? So if anyone could provide information about that, would appreciate it deeply.

(P.S if anyone knows where to buy a bottom digitiser made out of plastic for the touch screen, would be great. Thought mine was broken so bought a glass one from aliexpress. Turns out it was a software issue so now im stuck with a very icky scratchy touch screen.)

As the ai google just told me, I've got an unicorn. I want to change the top screen from an ips, unfortunately, exchanges are from old 3ds or chinesse that are not the same quality, I really tought that it would be like simply a generic ips screen so I could enjoy the improvements of almost 10 years of ips technology. Do you recommend to change the top screen? If it was a top ips model I wouldn't mind the bottom tn but well, I had my New3dsXL to play with the 3d fully on
