Sharing 4 Animation Hacks to Level Up Your Clip Studio Paint Workflow

Learn four Clip Studio Paint animation hacks to create larger environments for smoother, more dynamic movement in your scenes.

In this tutorial, I show you how to expand the canvas beyond your visible animation area, giving you more room to work with when planning out your shots. We will walk through the process using a spooky graveyard animation featuring a cat and a ghost as our example. This technique is perfect if you are working on digital art projects that require panning or camera movement across a wider space.

Sharing I built Rigby2D, a free and open-source alternative to Spine 2D

Hey everyone,

I'm a technical artist working in the games industry, and I'd like to share a project I've been developing.

Rigby2D is an open-source 2D skeletal animation editor designed as a free alternative to tools like Spine 2D.

The objective was to build a complete animation workflow with its own editor and runtime while maintaining interoperability with existing skeletal animation formats.

Current capabilities

* Skeletal rigging and weighted mesh deformation
* IK, transform, path, physics and slider constraints
* Animation dopesheet and graph editor
* Skins, events, image sequences and mesh deformation keys
* PSD and PNG import
* Skeleton JSON, binary .skel and texture atlas interoperability
* Self-contained .rigby project files
* JavaScript animation runtime and WebGL renderer

The editor is built with Tauri 2 and includes Rigbytron, a rigged and animated mascot used to demonstrate the tool's capabilities.

The source code is dual-licensed under MIT and Apache 2.0.

Current status: v0.1.0 - Early Alpha

Repository: https://github.com/jaisurya-dev-art/rigby2d)

Windows download: https://github.com/jaisurya-dev-art/rigby2d/releases/tag/v0.1.0

I'd appreciate technical feedback, particularly on the rigging workflow, animation tooling, file interoperability and potential production use cases.

Contributions are welcome!

software showcase Introducing Pawtween, a desktop-based editor focused specifically one Tweening!

Thumbnail

A little while ago I decided I wanted to take up tweening/puppet animation as a hobby, but all the tools I could find wouldn't work for me for one of several reasons:

  1. They were only available on mobile

  2. They cost money to use

  3. They had a complicated UI

Pawtween aims to focus specifically on tweening and puppet-style animations, and I've added many features I haven't seen on other apps. The interface is shown above, and as you can see, there was an attempt made to keep things relatively simple, with a built-in tutorial, meaning an easy learning curve.

The project is still in beta, and there will be regular updates released, but I'd appreciate if anyone interested could let me know (DMs), and I can give you a key. I am always looking for feedback, so if you've tested and have something to share, DM me.

Pawtween is always going to stay completely free, and I hope some other people can get some use out of it! Windows and Linux desktop builds available, with a web demo, and plans to expand to Mac soon!

The current web version is public right now on Github. Again, if you want the desktop version built (with additional features and GPU rendering), DM me for a key.

Github: https://github.com/Tornadowrath500/Pawtween

Again, I'm always looking for additional features to add, so if you have any ideas as to what I should add, please feel free to either comment here or DM me!

Disclaimer: This project was made with assistance from AI, all art that has been/is going to be added to the project will be drawn by myself, but the code was made with assistance from Claude. The project itself has no AI features or integration.

Sharing Hey so I(13) made this lil rough animation for my upcoming animated pilot. My inspiration for this scene was from The One Piece trailer. How is it? I wanted weight and exaggerated perspective in this shot. Did I do it? What can I improve

Sharing Been working on an animation for my new YouTube channel! Releasing it later today! (Sneak Peek)

After procrastinating for way too long, I finally decided to start my own animation YouTube channel!

Ever since my first post on the r/animation subreddit about a year ago, I wanted to get more into animation so I did.

I've been working on animations for a while now and took a ton of inspiration from Alan Becker's work. It's definitely not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

This was made using a mix of hand-drawn elements and 2D rig-based animation, with most of the animation done through rigging and keyframes.

I'm planning on releasing the full animation later today, but I wanted to share a little sneak peek here first and see what you guys think!

Any feedback is appreciated!
