Worst part about this is "Moldovan" being included as romance
5
u/Grazhke SAMOGITIAN WARLORD ๐ฐโ๏ธ๐ดโโ ๏ธ (illiterate barbarian) 16d ago
Well, it is descended from Latin (ultimately from Lithuanian)... ๐คทโโ๏ธ

u/Novel_Plum 14d ago
Moldovan language does not exist tho. It's just romanian with chirilic and some latin words replaced by Russian words. It's a mde up language and not developed naturally.

When I was younger I actually thought Latin came from Lithuania because how of similar these two things sounded.

u/Grazhke SAMOGITIAN WARLORD ๐ฐโ๏ธ๐ดโโ ๏ธ (illiterate barbarian) 15d ago

u/Citaku357 muslim northoid 15d ago

How is it technically kinda true? It's true that Lithuanian and the Romance languages are Indo European and related, but they don't descend from each other.

u/Pestelis 15d ago
It is basically based on fact that Lithuanian is closest language to Proto-Indo-European. This meme ignores the "closest to" part. In any case, Latin came from language that was similar to Lithuanian in some way, and that also was ancestor to modern day Lithuanian, which changed less through the ages. It is really far fetched and kinda joke. You are in reddit, not academia.edu
