Everyday life The grand opening of a Raleigh, North Carolina-area Kmart in the 1960’s. The first full-sized Kmart opened March 1962 in Garden City, Michigan.
What are your earliest memories of shopping at Kmart?

This subreddit was started so we could all come together and post images, videos, articles, and other sorts of media to celebrate the rich world that was the 1960s. It's exciting to see how many people have joined in the last year, and we welcome everyone to participate in the original vision of this community.
However this sub has been overwhelmed with low effort posts of glamor shots or publicity stills of female celebrities with absolutely no context as to the year of the image, why it was taken (e.g. what movie this was promoting), the location, or anything.
We have had many, many complaints about the direction this sub has taken since this activity started to kick up.
Going forward, images of famous women from the 1960s continue to be allowed as long as they are very safe for work, but the details behind the image are now a requirement.

Welcome to the 60’s! After being abandoned for quite some time now, I am going to be moderating the sub! Things have gone off the rails with obvious karma farming and other things. I along with possible other additional moderators to be added will try to slowly help reign in the sub and give it some much needed care.
Some of the rules have been revamped, so please familiarize yourself with them. Important ones of note are that this is a 1960’s sub. That means 1960-1969. Many posts are from the 70’s and 80’s. Just to clarify Wonder Woman and Charlie’s Angels and Three’s Company were 70’s shows! Also many reposts clog the sub (example: Lynda Carter and Elizabeth Montgomery.) and seem to turn the sub into a T and A sub.
The 60’s was more than just hot women, and believe me I appreciate that! But it would be nice to see other 1960’s related content like pop culture, movies, art, fashion, music etc. So some variety in posts would be awesome to see!
Please share your thoughts and views. We are a community after all! And remember everything is still a work in progress!

Crosby, Stills & Nash contains some of the most beautiful music ever recorded, and its magical sound has held up remarkably well over half a century later.

While other sitcom couples bickered, Gomez adored Morticia, and she adored him right back. They were madly in love, respected each other, were affectionate, and genuinely enjoyed being married. What do you think about these two? I think they are so much fun to watch. The entire series is different, creepy, entertaining and can be hilarious. A perfect mix of quirky characters. I love watching it.

My Bubbie took this photo and my dad just sent it to our family chat. He was 9 at the time!

My dad would always stop at the Sears candy counter after shopping. He would get his favorites like circus peanuts, orange slices and peanut clusters to share with us. It’s a great memory of spending time with my dad. Does anyone else remember having this experience and what candies and other treats would you get?

A happy, happy birthday to the late (gorgeous!) Steve Martin-Caro of r/TheLeftBankeBand!
On this day, October the 12th (but in 1948) this talented singer was born!
He has since passed, but his legacy still remains! 🥹😍💞
He is best known for the hit songs: Walk Away Renee, (No. 5) Pretty Ballerina, (No.15), She May Call You Up Tonight (No.120) and Desiree (No. 98).
Rest in Peace, Dear Steve!
You are sorely missed. 🌹🌹

Sometimes we went around town with our red wagon even asking neighbors if they had any empty pop bottles. It was fun, and a good way to get some candy and other treats at the corner store. One of my favorite memories while visiting my cousins in the summer. What did you buy with your extra money?

This movie was the first remake of the classic musical, it originally aired in 1965(and repeated annually til 1977). Lesley Ann Warren starred as Cinderella and Stuart Damon as the Prince. It also starred Celeste Holm(Fairy Godmother), Walter Pidgeon(the King), Ginger Rogers(the Queen). My mom would make sure to turn this on every year for us to watch. It was such a beautiful movie and musical. I have watched it several times recently as it has been streaming. My 30 year old daughter watched it with me and enjoyed it. What are your memories of this fairytale movie?
