Equipment I have started playing tennis since this year only and I’m still using a light-weight racquet from Dunlop for beginners.

• Upvotes

I’m now at an intermediate level and I play 3 days a week. I feel it’s the time to choose the right racquet.
Those are the options (keep in mind i have injury with my right hand and i need control and power):

1- Wilson Clash 100 V3.0
2-Wilson Blade 100 V10
3-Wilson Ultra 100 V5
4-Babolat Pure drive

Equipment Returning player

• Upvotes

Just recently started playing tennis again after a long break and joined a local club. Mainly playing doubles. I am finding that after a couple of sets I’m tired and struggling with wrist and shoulder pain.

I am currently using a 2015 yonex vcore tour f 310g 97. It does feel slightly heavy to swing. Would I be best sticking with this racket or find something easier?

Equipment Help me find my new tennis racket

I’ve been really enjoying playing with the Head Extreme Elite for the last 2 years, but as I’m progressing from a relative beginner to a more dedicated player I’m realising it’s time to switch things up. My Dutch rating is between 6 and 7, which converts to 4,5-5,5 UTR.

I really like the top heavy balance point of my current racket (345mm) but I dislike its weight (260g). I am tall and have an athletic build, so I preferably want to increase the weight to around 290-300g. However, I can’t find any rackets in that weight category that are top heavy. I’ve always played with top heavy rackets and I would like to keep doing so. Any racket recommendations are much appreciated. Or is the best strat just to use lead tape to make even balanced rackets top heavy…

I just got this racket but sadly hit it against a back fence on accident tonight. Not with a lot of force and it didn’t feel that bad. But should I be concerned?

Opinion Buying Yonex VCORE through a friend that currently in Japan

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hi everyone, so my friend right now is on a trip to japan and I asked him if he could buy me yonex vcore 2026 and he send me this brochure of yonex vcore from windsor store. Now me and my friend absolutely can't read japanese at all but im seeing two different price for the same spec and the he asked the store that the actual price is the cheaper one (red colored text).
Now im just making sure if i buy the racket with that price would i get the same spec japan made yonex racket or not. I did hire a local translator just now through a freelancer web and he said it should be the same racket; the only difference is the manufacturer's recommended price versus the discounted price from Windsor.
Im asking for you guys opinion or if you guys ever had experience buying directly instore from japan. Should i buy it??

Equipment Is it time to restring my gut hybrid?

VS Touch mains at 48 lbs — Natural gut
ALU Power Soft crosses at 46 lbs
Wilson clash v3

This setup has been a blessing to recover from tennis elbow issues (I am 48).

5 months of weekly play in It looks like this and I feel I am not getting as much spin anymore.

This is my first time with gut. Should I wait for it to snap or get it all redone?

Equipment Is Babolat PP01 another concerted hype job?

a couple days lately on youtube I noticed a sudden flush of reviewers doing PP01 review for Babolat and they are all generally positive about this.
This is super the similar to TFight 305s or that red racket from Wilson, what do you think, would that have any disruptive impact to the market at all or just another hype job?

General Advice Am I getting bumped to 4.0?

Tennisrecord.com has me at a 3.61. I thought I'd get bumped last year but didn't. I haven't played a single 3.5 match this year. I entered one large tournament this year at 4.0 and won against strong competition (all matches in 6-7 UTR range).

Time will tell!

Just given what I have seen in the past, I expect to be back at a 3.5 rating for another year lol.

Heath & Fitness TFCC injury: Rest another 2–4 weeks or start rehab now?

I was diagnosed with a TFCC injury (due to a gym workout) and DRUJ subluxation about 6 months ago, confirmed by MRI.

For the first 5 months, I wore a short wrist brace with little improvement. Then, following my doctor's advice, I underwent 2 weeks of above-elbow immobilization, which led to significant improvement.

Now, most daily activities are pain-free, but I still experience mild pain with certain movements, particularly wrist rotation combined with ulnar deviation or wrist extension.

My doctor currently recommends continued rest, but I'm wondering whether I should:

  1. Rest for another 2–4 weeks to see if the remaining pain disappears.

  2. Start gentle rehabilitation and strengthening exercises now, as long as they're pain-free.

**For those who have recovered from TFCC injuries, did you wait until you were completely pain-free before starting rehab, or did you begin while some mild pain remained?**

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences!

Equipment Struggle with one frame for my serve vs. groundstrokes / returns and volleys

I have a dilemma that has been plaguing me for years, so I am looking for helpful and serious advice here.

Serve is my best shot, but I am also OK at all-court play. Some of that really depends on the racquet. Really.

Here is why:

  1. On serve, I do best with a headlight, maneuverable racquet that allows me to accelerate it overhead and hit serve with spin or slice. I do extremely well with EZONE 98 or Boom Pro. If I switch to a less maneuverable racquet, I feel like I cannot generate a proper racquet head speed, and spin-controlled fast serves.

  2. It is the opposite on the groundstrokes. I find myself playing very well with a heavier, chunkier racquet that I can feel on my return or volley, or naturally "throw" at the groundstroke. I do really well with the 2024 Speed MP or Speed Pro. When I switch to a lighter or whippier racquet, I feel like I lose the confidence in where my shots are going.

I am strong and muscular, but I am not young, so I am also avoiding injury risks from using too heavy racquets on my serve, or too stiff and too light racquets on my groundstrokes.

One racquet that I found a really solid, happy medium was the EZONE 100, but for some reason it gave me bad tennis elbow. Probably because it allowed me to arm the groundstrokes due to its massive power and low swingweeight.

Any thoughts and recommendations are welcome, either on technique adjustments or on the best choice of racquet that balances my preferences (1) and (2).

General Advice The real reason you keep running around your backhand (and a 15-min drill that fixed it for players I've coached)

I played competitive tennis for 8 years (top 5 in my country's U18 ranking, 15/2 in France) and I've helped a lot of club players. The most common pattern I see: running around the backhand on every ball.

It feels safe, but good opponents spot it fast. They aim at your backhand corner, play faster, and wait for your off-balance forehand to hit the open court.

The fix usually isn't the swing. It's 3 things:

  1. Late preparation: turn your shoulders as soon as you see the ball coming to your backhand side.

  2. Contact point too close to the body: hit it out in front, even if the swing is short.

  3. No safe target: aim crosscourt, high over the net. That ball is hard to punish.

Simple drill: 15 min against a wall, backhand only, crosscourt height, count your rallies. Aim for 20 in a row before adding pace.

Curious: what made your backhand finally click? A drill, a coach's cue, a change of grip? I'm always looking for new ways to explain it to players.

Happy to answer questions about your backhand in the comments.

General Advice Tennis Elbow Hot Take

I think the change in the ball materials in the supply chain is causing and or adding to tennis elbow for a lot of players.

I’ve been playing for 4 years and also play with a lot of players that have been playing for 20+ years, and this past year everyone is developing tennis elbow to some extent even though they’ve never had it before.

Equipment Is it foolish to get a new Racquet this early?

I am a new player (6 months in, 2.5, playing 3-4 times a week more if I can.)

I am really interested in a new racquet, I currently have the first racket I played with, I went to a tennis store in march and said I am taking my first class tomorrow and need a racket. They gave me a used pro staff 97LS v11.0. I didn’t like it much at first but have gotten used to it.

While hitting with a partner I switch rackets and noticed how easy it seemed to hit the sweet spot on theirs (100in ezone alpha, not wanting that one particularly).

Was this more so in my head or is there really a difference that’s worth exploring?

My racket is 10+ years old, would I benefit from a more modern stick?

If I am to early in my development to get a new racket how long of playing until you think I should start to consider?

Thanks any and everyone who responds!

Equipment GRIP SIZE

Hi guys, this is the previous post i made. I played tonight with this racquet and although i won the game i felt pain so what u guys suggested me was clearly right. This is an L3 grip, although it’s a test racket so when i compare it to another L3 head racquet it feels slightly smaller. So my question is: I red online Zverev plays with an L3 (4 3/8). How the hell is this possible??? I mean it HAS to be false information. No Pro Players use an L4 grip? I can’t convince myself this is true.
