I just smashed my 4K TV in front of over 30 guests at my baseball party because of the White Sox performance lately. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the night in a motel. This team has ruined my life and my party. I can’t do this any longer. Goodbye.

How the hell did Cal Ripken play 2,632 consecutive games (16+ seasons straight), and our guys can't play 2 weeks without an injury??

15

u/Rickys_Lineup_Card Apr 21 '22

TLR and Leury are banging confirmed.

14

u/SlamminCleonSalmon The Big Hurt Apr 21 '22

Leury Garcia is 2 for 26 on the season, he has 31 career home runs in nearly 2000 career at bats.

To bat him 3rd once is extremely questionable, to do it in consecutive games is total incompetence.

There's just no way to defend how often Tony puts Garcia on the field.

He's 2 for 29 on the season, he's 31 years old so he's not some great talent waiting to break out, his outfield defense sucks, infield defense is sometimes passable, he's got no power in the bat and he's a shitty base runner.

He brings nothing to the team.

Every batter in this lineup has become the worst version of themselves-

Tim popping out on pitch one

Robert swinging at sliders low and out of the strike zone

abreu grounding the ball to short

Yazmani not being patient

Eloy swinging at outside pitches

It’s the greatest hits of everybody’s shittiest

4 errors in nine games? Anderson committed a grand total of 10 in 122 games last season. Something going on with that guy mentally right now for this to be happening.

There’s simply no approach up there at the plate

7

u/AbbreviationsFar5885 Apr 21 '22

We honestly might be going on about 40-something innings straight where this offense doesn’t force an opposing pitcher to throw more than 15 pitches in a single inning

→ More replies (3)

8

u/BradyNFriends Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22

Tim Anderson and Luis Robert can’t hit back to back in the lineup because of how aggressive they are. Those guys will produce two outs in 5 or fewer pitches with their approaches. Moncada has to be slotted in at No. 2 upon his return because he’s a guy who can and is willing to take pitches in front of the No. 3 guy. Either move Robert to No. 3 or move him down a little further.

Sox ~100+ mph liners: hit right at someone 95% of the time

Guardians weak ass grounders: hit in the perfect spots constantly

I'm not saying the result of this game is purely bad luck but God damn.

8

u/TacitlyDaft Hawk Apr 21 '22

The entire core we expected to keep this window open is made of fucking glass.

7

7

Don’t worry we got Cy Cease on the bump

6

7

6

u/MetalheadNick Thomas Apr 21 '22

That's game

8

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '22

We look like amateurs on the bases out there. TLR needs to get these guys going. Terrible base running is now a habit? And errors on routine plays?

7

Did everyone get lobotomized on those two days off?? What the fuck

8

u/NoOneDiedThisTime Kopech Apr 21 '22

I just don't understand how the Sox go from winning all of their first 3 series to going down 7-0 in game 1 yesterday and never being remotely close to Cleveland.

This team is so fucking bipolar.

7

u/No_Pants_Bandit Apr 21 '22

This is basically the same squad as last year. And there were plenty of games where we would win by 10 runs in one game only to get shut out completely the next.

Also we are about as deep as a puddle which is a separate issue entirely, but I suspect that its playing a factor in this series.

6

u/brandochu009 Apr 21 '22

6

u/max5470 Apr 21 '22

And when things go bad nothing goes right, sheets killed that ball.

7

u/Theincompetentme Apr 21 '22

Leury should have stayed on 2nd. Super Joe had to send Luis

5

u/Rocketgrande Apr 21 '22

Can’t wait for the sycophants to explain why that wasn’t Leury’s fault even though it went right under his glove and an average second baseman could have snagged it

6

u/IHaveFavorites Vibes are Immaculate Apr 21 '22

Literally can't do anything this series. Hard hit balls right to the fielder, bad base running, errors galore... This is just not fun.

6

u/DJLusciousEagle Apr 21 '22

Ugh can we please not get swept by the fucking GUARDIANS??? 😩

7

u/That_Shadow_Siren Apr 21 '22

This honestly feels like the Sox are being complacent and feeling like they have some superiority over their competition. I guess it's best to be humbled early on than later in the year.

That K should have been 3rd out, Dylan throwing so many extra pitches thanks to Tim

5

u/BradyNFriends Apr 21 '22

From 2016-2018, Tim Anderson was one of the lowest graded shortstops in baseball and committed the most errors at the position over that span. He seems to returning back to form.

I’m sure he’ll figure it out and not continue this trend.

6

Don't know whether to be concerned or not. I was not concerned when our slump initially started for 3 weeks after the all-star break last year, but that "3 week span" soon turned into a half season span.

This team is having so much trouble offensively that Jose Abreu, who can’t hit a fastball anymore, is the least of the Sox concerns.

You can scratch out Robert playing tomorrow

So Robert is hurt now. Can he stay healthy? Fuck everything

4

u/MSPaintYourMistake Apr 21 '22

Is it just me or does Robert look like he's wincing/hurting every single time he exerts himself?

5

u/That_Shadow_Siren Apr 21 '22

Don't tell me Robert will be the baseball version of Derrick Rose . Can't be getting hurt all the time, man.

Faberge eggs are less fragile than our outfield.

7

u/CampfireBeast Taylor Apr 21 '22

Fuck this cursed series holy god was that painful. I’m going to drink enough tonight to forget all about this shit show.

5

u/hiphopthewalrus Tim Anderson Apr 21 '22

"How many first pitch balls have they swung at?"
Could be easily substituted for:
"How many first pitch balls have Cleveland pitchers thrown?"

8

u/bumpofyeetler Apr 21 '22

Andrew Vaughn is hitting .310/.375/.552 and he's somehow the first guy that TLR will bench. I don't get it. Why is Sheets treated as an equal option? Vaughn is our best hitter to this point you shouldn't be looking for reasons to bench him.

u/reiks12 Go Sox! Apr 21 '22

He is on pace to play 100 games this season, what is this front office doing?

What does Leury actually bring to this team? He can play multiple positions terribly? What a dynamic fuckin player

If this team wins the division, much like last year, it will be a result of talent and not because there is a functioning brain cell on the field or bench.

u/jaw28 Robert Apr 21 '22

Thank God our clutch power hitter Leury Garcia is batting…3rd… /s

5

u/EddySea Apr 21 '22

Ozzie's pick to click...Leury Garcia.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '22

Luis continuing to struggle :/

4

u/nn44ss Diamond Apr 21 '22

If you’re batting in the 1/2 hole, perhaps you should take a pitch or two ffs.

I’ve been defending TLR for a while now… I completely share everyone’s feelings on the lineup today. I can’t for the life of me figure out why Leury is batting 3rd. Seems like obvious self sabotage to almost everyone with a brain.

4

u/Riley_Turner La Pantera Apr 21 '22

We hit it hard = out. Cleveland hits a weak grounder= straight through the infield

The offense is dead

5

u/Rocketgrande Apr 21 '22

Under 20 pitches. FML. At what point does the FO clean house on the coaching staff. I know the answer is never, but a man can dream.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '22

Honestly I think the team had too many days off

Can really mess with your mojo if you had 2 postponements in a row. Especially if you’re not home

They’ll get out of this funk soon enough

u/MetalheadNick Thomas Apr 21 '22

I'm gonna be quite upset if this offense fucks over the pitching staff again

5

u/SHANE523 Robert Apr 21 '22

I know I pretty much watch the White Sox but I don't think I have ever seen a team swing at more balls out of the zone and let balls go in the zone than the WS!

4

u/Grizzy46 Diamondbacks Apr 21 '22

And of course we gidp

Cool.

FUCK

4

Let’s get tf outta Cleveland

5

u/197gpmol Apr 21 '22

Time to make like this city's population and put the "leave" in Cleveland.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '22

Oh hell yeah! A lead off double from the 2 hitter. Surely the powerful 3 bat will get him in!

4

u/EddySea Apr 21 '22

Well at least Garcia is making his pitch count go up.
