New Voice Assistant
Just showing off a voice assistant project I figured y'all might appreciate. Vibe coded, the code isn't easily cut out and shared, but some tech specs in case anyone wants to try to adapt to their own system, since it lets you skip a lot of trial and error:
- Opus 5.5 built
- Custom firmware on a FutureProof Homes Satellite 1
- OpenBMB's VoxCPM 1.5 16-bit version with 10 steps via audioCPP
- Audio sent through a little media center pc with a radeon 780m (I'm amazed that potato can process it in real time)
- Home assistant managing the voice assistant
- Stt through nabu casa cloud
- Llm is haiku 5.5.
- I stripped the ambience from the reference voice so it could process the words, but it adds the ambience loop back on replies at 20dB under the voice volume.
The interesting part was how few models could manage the robotic tone, even with ample reference audio, because they're all specifically trained NOT to sound like this.
