Hello r/Guyana recently a user claiming to be a doctor has made a post and some users took the words of this user seriously and began asking valid medical questions. If anyone chose to engage with this user through a private conversation PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THEIR ADVICE.
The mod team wants to ensure that our users do not fall victim to unsubstantiated claims.
This user is now banned and I urge everyone to only ever take medical advice from a verified medical professional.
Please stay safe out there. Thank you for your continued engagement in the r/Guyana subreddit.

As the title suggests, how is the culture of disrespecting doctors and nurses encouraged even if they are doing everything correctly as per protocol along with willingness to learn, just because the head of the same prefers people of a certain nationality (not guyanese btw) more than others.
Also side note, there is no one who can be contacted regarding the same because such matters get pushed under the rug with threats to the person's job and future employment.
I would just like to know why such things are so prevalent in region 6 primarily. Even educating patients is frowned upon here for some reason.

So I wanted to apply for the Training Programme to be a Dental Assistant from MoH
But i don't know when the application period was, so i want to know if anyone knows when the next application period will be and do I need to have any prior experience in the Dental area, it doesn't seem that way because they only ask for 2 subjects.

Hello everyone, I need your help.
Are you a One Communications customer and tired of dealing with those old pesky USSD code menus and popups to check your credit or activate voice and data plans?
Well I am too and got just the app for you.
Introducing: Quick Balance the app made with you in mind to simplify this process and bring all the features and benefits of those *100# menus into 1 sleek interface.
The app is out in testing for Android users(sorry iOS) for which I need your help before it reaches the Play Store.
You first need to join this Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/quickbalance-testers
Then download the app from here:
Web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.quickbalance
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.quickbalance
More information: https://quickbalance.app/
Note: the same Google account you join the testers group with needs to be the account you are signed into Play Store with to download the app for testing. If you have any questions or issues feel free to ask me here, via Reddit DM or email [support@quickbalance.app](mailto:support@quickbalance.app)
Further I am not affiliated in anyway with One Comm or GTT. This app was made purely as a hobby project of mine to make my life easier and I thought why not share it with others who may need it too.

Hey everyone! I'm interested in freelancing online on Fiverr, Upwork etc and I want to find the best option to receive payments online- as we all know receiving money online here is a hassle if you dont have a US bank account.
These are the platforms I've found while researching:
Payoneer
WiPay
Wise
My sibling sent one to me called SpotPay on tiktok, which seems to be a newer product. According to the video, you're able to receive funds.. like PayPal in a way? Not sure about this one as much.
I want to know which one is recommended for a Freelance designer. Thanks guys.

If someone is clearing a 1kg personal box from the GPO, sent from a European country; what is the amount of cash one would need to have on hand?

I am googling US restrictions and travelling with food items. Its basically saying that you cannot walk with anything. Do you usually walk with things like casreep, pepper, juice, seasoning, food? And do you declare it as food, and do they allow it and not take it away?
UPDATE: There was no declaration form and no one checked the bag or asked anything.

C. W. Peppiette top left ran C. W. Peppiette & Co and was responsible for British Guiana's annual Peppiette Cup football tournament.
Thomas Wrigglesworth top right was one of the higher ups in the Demerara Railway Company when it was private. A year before this picture was taken I believe it was sold to the state and he was granted a fortune in annuities.
Ulric R. White (sitting far left) was an established businessman in British Guiana.
John Frederick Waby was the Botanist & Head Gardener known for landscaping The Botanical Gardens.
R.G. Brassington (sat middle) was one of the nation's Justices of the Peace.
James Rodway I was British Guiana's most prominent historian - writing the books regarded as the authority on the colony's development, published throughout the British Empire.
William Cunnigham, sat far right, served on the British Guiana Boundary Commission during the global Venezuela Crisis of the 1890s - so would have worked closely with James Rodway.

I can’t be the only one who notices this but why are SOME Indo-Caribbeans so obsessed with proving they have money or bragging? It’s like every convo has to be about so-and-so’s job and salary and who makes more than who, who’s car costs more, etc.
Like I understand they grew up back home with nothing but this is a toxic behaviour that needs to stop. A lot of aunt’s and uncles behave this way but are drowning in debt. They’ll go buy something on their credit card just to prove they can and they always always worry “wha people guh say” and about looking “cheap”.
And this doesn’t just go for the older generation.. even young kids born in North America act the same way too. You meet a random Indo Caribbean guy somewhere and they’re always “rich”. Gotta talk about their job, the new car they bought, etc.
What makes this bad is that a lot of these people are gonna put themselves in debt or work to death just to prove something and outdo each other. And I know this happens in other cultures too but indo Caribbean’s definitely do it A LOT more than other races I’ve met.
I’d love to read some comments about this topic

Hello there! Op here, and I was thinking to myself the other day I should start expanding on my music taste, so I’ve decided I’m going to start listening to music from all over and I randomized every nation in the world and I got Guyana! So I would appreciate any suggestions for bands and artists from there.
Sincerely, your Canadian friend.
