Dengue is BAD. My girlfriend got it while working for the Peace Corps, they flew her home to the US for medical care and she still barely made it. So close to dying.

If someone you know ever gets Dengue [or some sort of equally awful hemorrhagic illness], you can donate platelets directly to that person!! One of my friend's Dad survived because 4 of his friends & I made a direct donation. Platelets don't care about blood type.

I am being a bit flippant because Its the only way I know how to deal with stress but yeah its not good. I have a feeling that unless we we replace most of florida air with DEET the problem is going to stick around. Mosquitoes are jokingly called the Florida state bird for a reason.

Most transplants come here thinking its a tropical paradise. What they dont understand that just cause we paved over the swamp doesnt mean its not still a swamp. Bugs and moisture are huge problems that affect basically every household. With summer getting hotter and rainfall being less predictable we are kind of at the mercy of climate to control mosquito populations.

I am glad your girlfriend made it and I hope we get out act together and figure it out.
