The problem isn’t space exploration, nasa receives a fraction of the budget on top of the privatized companies working on it. The problem is the military budget and black books operations.

I don't think they were saying that we don't have healthcare or a functioning government becauss if NASA, I think instead they meant "as impressive as this is, I'd rather never get the opportunity to see this kind of thing in exchange for having healthcare and a functioning government." You know, where the function isn't to kill us all.

The problem is the military budget and black books operations.

This was always the problem, but - surprise surprise, without all these military gimmicks, you wouldn't be shitposting on the ARPANET

Couldn’t imagine licking the boots of the military industrial complex. Couldn’t be me. There’s no need for us to spend an insurmountable amount of money on bombing and invading countries. Especially when that money could go to better places to better the nation. Our electrical grid hasn’t been updated in entire generations of people amount of time for example. Extremely vulnerable to attack. Health care. Homelessness. The list goes on.

We spend an absolute fortune on stuff for illegals and those not working.

It’s pharmaceutical companies creating medicine and lying to keep us sick

3

u/MoistToaster60 1d ago

Plenty of pharmaceuticals that keep people alive. Tell that natural remedy shit to Steve Jobs. I’ll wait.

Most of these people are terminally ill.

“Voluntary euthanasia is ABSOLUTELY WORSE than murdering people with guns”

Don't mess with the purposely vague propaganda that fits on a bad faithed meme. It will hurt their feelings.

4

u/PixelFlyerXD 1d ago

*all of these people are terminally/chronically ill (like 30% of maid apply-ees die before they get got.

1

u/LayerCivil7488 1d ago

Look into the number of veterans they push it on as a FIRST option when they seek help after returning home. It's disgusting.

3

u/PixelFlyerXD 1d ago

It is really hard to get tho, all things considered. Learned about it in law class, very interesting stuff...

Not saying it shouldn't be an option as it's often the most compassionate thing that can be done for some people. Making sure people understand their decision is as permanent as permanent gets is pretty important, too. Glad they've got lessons dedicated to it. Important stuff.

1 employee raised the option with 4 veterans and was subsequently fired.

Not sure if you’re a sucker or a liar: either way looks like you’ve got some self-improvement to do.

That's jus not how it works. Get off the Internet grandpa, your brain is rotting and it's easily tricked

How does not having common sense manifest itself in other areas of your life?

Wrong.

According to the BBC in a 2024 article:
[Canadas'] fifth annual report since euthanasia was legalised in 2016 showed around 15,300 people underwent assisted dying last year [note: meaning 2023] after being successful in their applications.

The median age of this group was more than 77. The vast majority – around 96% - had a death deemed "reasonably foreseeable", due to severe medical conditions such as cancer.

Now, according to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in that same year, over 46,000 people in America died as a result of gun violence. And if you want to compare only homicide rates for some reason, that number was almost 18,000. (Although, suicides by gun alone in the U.S were a horrifying 27,000+ in 2023 as well.) Whichever of those numbers you want to use is higher than the most recent complete data for Canada's assisted suicides.

I'd like to add that the vast majority of the dead from guns are well under the median 77 years of age for elected assisted suicide in Canada. More importantly, I'll point out that murdered people, unlike critically ill people seeking a dignified, peaceful, medically-controlled death of their own choosing, generally don't choose to die, so that comparison is also ridiculous.

So, even if the claim in the comic strip was not false, it would still be senseless and misleading.

You idiots are always against bodily autonomy huh?

2

u/AreYouAnOakMan 1d ago

Unlike you idiots who are apparently against bodily autonomy when individuals have to protect their own? Choices, choices, but not THAT choice! 🤡

1

u/whyaskfor1 1d ago

1 justified homicide for every 31 criminal homicides... 62% of gun deaths are suicide, so i guess there is some autonomy in that

-1

u/-Saucegurlllll 1d ago

Worth noting that "gun homocides" is ignoring suicides by gun, which account for about 60% of all reported gun deaths in America. Also worth noting that gun deaths in America are known to be under reported, and that a cop shooting someone is not counted as a gun homocide.

So, it's likely that gun homocides are still more prevelant in America, but they're undercounted. But whatever, I guess let's just spread misinformation in order to shit on medical assistance in dying?

1

u/Hamburger_Diet 1d ago

If you look at the numbers its not as bad as they like to make out. If you take out suicides accidents and crime on crime related and add in other weapon related homicides vs homicides in other countries per capita its not super far apart

Only because you guys don't fight to improve your country.

2

u/perf1620 1d ago

Some of us are trying very very hard but we are dealing with a highly uneducated populace poisoned by decades of slow drip propaganda.

1

u/TentacleChow 1d ago

Some of us, yeah. Tough pill swallow.
