I tried my hand at a denim weave this time around. I used black sashiko thread for the warp and two strands of waxed embroidery floss for the weave. I'm curious to see how this combination lasts after washing. I've had good luck with waxed embroidery floss for warp and weave when darning in the past, but I've been curious to see how sashiko thread might hold up or behave long term.

I washed and dried this pair only with another pair of brand new jeans (which emerged unharmed). I have no idea what happened. It doesn't look like any material is missing, it's just ripped and stretched. I've been researching sashiko mending but I'm not exactly sure where to start. I don't mind the mend being visible but want to avoid anything too decorative. Thanks!

I don't know if this technique has a name but in my head I call it fake Swiss darning, since I'm not duplicating real stitches but make them up as I go

Not the prettiest mend, but not bad for my first attempt at darning. The inside doesn’t need to look pretty anyway.

Hello all!
I've tried to mend this a few different ways but I can get anything to stick. I'm not the best seamstress but any techniques I'm willing to learn.
Thank you so much.

I bought this bag 6 months ago for work after looking at the good reviews. It was supposed to be durable and last a long time but it now the zipper is unravelling.
The stitches are okay but the zipper is coming out of the stitch.
Please help me fix it.

The tear wasn't on the seam but close to it. I used a spare bit of embroidery floss to stitch it shut. The stitches aren't quite even on the other side, but I'm satisfied with it for my first try.

i was asked if i could mend my friend's trousers since a part of them had a big burn hole, and i asked if i could add something silly. i also kept the burned edges because i liked the shape and it gives context to the embroidery. the text is in the font from the tapestry and is supposed to read "haec : bracae : incenduntur :", although i'm not a talented enough embroiderer so that you can read it clearly. it is a joke sentence meaning "these trousers are being set on fire" (or something ajacent). see my inspiration on the right side of the image of the tapestry, featuring a house being set on fire, instead of trousers.

I need some tips or advice on how to repair this overalls clasp for my wife. I tried using some glue to reattach the little metal pieces to no avail. Is there any other ideas that could possibly work. Thank you!!

Not the best lighting but I can't be bothered to set up better.
When I saw my sons pants with fresh stains and tears I was considering throwing them out since I already patched them before and they're looking rough but then I thought why not just keep adding. I enjoy mending. He likes custom and chaotic fashion choices. He picks the color themes to the repairs, he even expands the scope with wild ideas if I let him(I don't always feel like doing the job) He asked me what if he rip the patch? I said that's ok I'll just put more patches until it's all patches.
Now that my husband has a repair my mellow child wants some patches too. I'll have to pick a pair to add a patch or 2 just for the heck of it for him.

Also, I forgot to mention the sweater is wool, and I plan to use a sturdy polyester/cotton thread. Please advise if there might be a more suitable option! Does anyone have suggestions as to how to close up the small holes the elbow patches will cover? I don't want them to unravel from the inside. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hey everyone,
The Velcro closure on the sleeve cuff of my Ralph Lauren Gorham jacket no longer stays closed. It still attaches when I press the two sides together, but it comes undone almost immediately.
Has anyone experienced this with their Gorham jacket or a similar Ralph Lauren jacket?
Is there a way to restore the Velcro, or would replacing it be the only option? I’d prefer to keep the original look and avoid damaging the jacket.
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I have repaired this particular bra many times now. The last time, I used a piece of industrial work wear to cover the place the wires would poke out and they found another place... I've since sewn the end of the wires into the channel, so hopefully this is the last time.
I will admit I shouldn't be wearing it while gardening as its really not made for that... Nevertheless, the cat likes to take advantage of it being thrown on the couch to be mended. Apparently Squeak finds the bra more comfortable than I do.

My Dad’s LL Bean knit sweater had a bind off come undone (smh) and he asked me to fix it. Anyone know of a good technique for this? The hole is at the back of the sleeve by the shoulder blade. The stitches are all in tact, this isn’t a ‘rip’ but an undone seam/bind off.

I want to try visible mending, but I am not sure what color/ stitch would complement my tshirt best. I am new to mending and embroidery, so I would love some beginner-friendly suggestions. Also, can someone explain to me how can I choose the best needle and thread for each project? Thanks

The hole is no wider than a fingertip

I recently tried out scotch darning on the heel of a sock. I used 100% cotton Sashiko thread. In the future I would use wool or knitting yarn, and I would make the stitches closer together to avoid gaps. That being said, I was hoping there is a way to fill in the gaps without having to undo my repair as I am overall happy with it. Anyone else have experience with this?

Hi all! I’ve been scouring the internet with no luck and I thought maybe someone here would know. My mom had an object for darning socks that she claimed was a dried lemon. It was the shape and size of a large lemon, light brown or tan in color, definitely made of natural material, and it was light weight and rattled. She said those were the lemon seeds inside. It was perfect smooth on the outside. It definitely did not look like what happens when I forget about a lemon and it dries in my fruit bowl!
I cannot find any information about this object online or if it really was a lemon. I’ve seen videos of people using a fresh lemon to darn but nothing like that. Has anyone heard of this or know where I could get one?

I have a favorite backpack. Sadly, the load-bearing seam is disintegrating and I’d like to sew it back to useable state. I’d love to hear any thoughts on thread type, backing…or if it’s too far gone to get back on the trail. Thx for your insights!
