Not enough games anymore give the true badass power fantasy like tfu gave.

Agreed. The Jedi games are shit compared to this, imo. And I'm tired of pretending they're amazing.

TFU did a better job nearly 20 years ago

Edit: maybe 'shit' was the wrong word, but they are overrated.

I absolutely love Jedi Fallen order and Jedi Survivor for how well they pull off that genre, but my jaw hit the floor in shock the first time I played one and had trouble beating a couple stormtroopers. The force unleashed made you feel like a human wrecking ball in a glass shop. The new games make you feel like you are fighting for your life just to stay afloat. I think both are incredible games for totally different reasons and I’d love to see TFU brought back

Good take. Agreed. 👍

Shieet I assumed by “the Jedi games” he meant the Kyle Katarn stuff lmao…fuck I’m old

3

u/WhiskeyDJones Sep 09 '26

Nah. Those games are absolutely peak my man

1

u/gamesrgreat Sep 09 '26

Agreed. I was about to fight to defend them lol

Any time you need to, you have my sword.

My head cannon is that Luke was heavily protected by the force, since stormtroopers were supposed to be an elite fighting force. Callan (I whatever his name is, I can’t remember) wasn’t as strong in the force as Luke and so he had a tougher time trying to get by.

That, or Luke got the benefit of a lack of training on the stormtroopers part whereas Carlson was fighting at the height of empire power.

And in TFU, you were already a brick shithouse by the time the game started.

Plus Sith are straight up just stronger than jedi.

The whole moral of the light vs dark side is that more power doesn't necessarily mean better.

But Sith literally are straight up just stronger

4

u/hamonicmantitties Sep 09 '26

Ehh yeah but not THAT much stronger

They're more brute strength while Jedi are more technique focused because of how Sith powers work in general

2

u/Lazarous86 Sep 09 '26

Well, I'm a game where you are mowing down hordes of enemies I like sith power better

3

u/JayDKing Sep 09 '26

It made sense, narratively. Yeah, Cal can block and deflect lasers, but also he was barely a Padawan when the Order came in so it makes sense for him to struggle early on and have to both come to terms with his previously damaged Force connection and also train his abilities in the Force. Second game literally has you take on and chump a whole crowd of Stormtroopers in your first fight and then go on to run a train through Coruscant while also taking down an Inquisitor who gave Cal a lot of trouble in the first game. Second game Cal is leaps and bounds above first game Cal at the start of their respective games.

Cause Cal kestis is a weak Jedi compared to those we followed in the movies.

Totally agree

They're great games, but the idea of a Jedi and a souls-like are almost antithetical to one another.

5

u/CoolAtlas Sep 09 '26

I disagree. Souls like combat is all about patience and practiced calm almost meditative action.

If that isn't jedi I don't know what is. Dark souls becomes an easy game if you are simply patient and never panic

4

u/BigLowCB4 Sep 08 '26

Nah I disagree FO AND JS were were not shit.

-2

u/WhiskeyDJones Sep 08 '26

Compared to TFU, yes they are. They have better graphics, obviously. And the stories are alright, but everything else pales in comparison.

TFU is just more fun and flows much better. The jedi games seem clunkier and more restricted.

3

u/BigLowCB4 Sep 08 '26

I respectfully disagree my guy. I played them all and while TFU was considerably better, it doesn’t make the other two shite. They were both solid canon games.

1

u/WhiskeyDJones Sep 08 '26

I think you're just getting hung up on my terminology. Okay, they are not "shit", and I did somewhat enjoy them, but I do think they are glazed so hard in the star wars fandom and are mad overrated.

The feeling playing them didn't even come close to how fun TFU was.

1

u/BigLowCB4 Sep 08 '26

True true I can agree with that.

1

u/Aplesedjr Sep 09 '26

They’re also two entirely different kinds of games. Force unleashed is a linear hack and slash game, which wants you to go crazy and mow down droves of enemies as quickly as possible and build up a combo meter. The Jedi games are much slower and semi open world, requiring that you wait for an opportunity to strike at your enemy, because if you blindly rush in you’ll just die. They can’t really be compared, because the intent and design behind them is so different.

3

u/Living-Preference455 Sep 08 '26

Why would you pretend that it's amazing? That's just dumb lmfao

2

u/cmwheels85 Sep 08 '26

Jesus Christ that game is nearly 20 years old? I still feel like that's one of the newer Star Wars games. I don't understand time sometimes.

2

u/buddiegreen Sep 08 '26

Yeah I feel like you get the feel of the SW world for sure with the Jedi games but you can't wreck shop like tfu.

1

u/LordBeans69 Sep 08 '26

The jedi games are great in their own right, but tfu is unbeatable

1

u/nstrasner Sep 09 '26

Aww really? I loved the newer games but I’m a big Cameron Monaghan fan

1

u/WhiskeyDJones Sep 09 '26

See, I'm not really. May have an influence in why I don't rate the games so much.

Heard he's great in Gotham though.

1

u/nstrasner Sep 09 '26

I think I just have a soft spot for him cause shameless was one of the first tv shows my wife and I watched together when we started dating 🤣 makes sense though I never really thought about how polarizing a game could be when using a real life actor as the main character. Like not everyone’s a fan of everyone sort of thing

1

u/Solid_D15M Sep 09 '26

And Jedi Academy still puts them both to shame

1

u/Jotsunpls Sep 09 '26

Dude. They’re different genres. TFU is a hack’n’slash God of War clone; the Jedi series is soulslike

-2

u/Beginning_Ocelot503 Sep 08 '26

The Jedi games ripped off the mechanics of Sekiro but did a really shitty job. Not that they could’ve done a good job anyways because a combat system like that doesn’t work when you’re a Jedi going up against groups of storm troopers with guns and batons.

1

u/MingleLinx Sep 08 '26

If you have a vr headset you should try Blade and Sorcery. You can do the same stuff Starkiller does but more and it’s awesome with the Star Wars mod

1

u/Confident-Tutor2667 Sep 08 '26

I read that as ‘the fuck you gave’😭😭

1

u/Sir_Eggmitton Sep 09 '26

I read that like “the fuck u gave” and it both works and totally doesn’t.
