The numbers show its not really worth it for them though. Its not just about the raw sales of PC ports its also about the opportunity cost.

yeah because they release these first party games a year after it releases on their console. By the time they port it to PC, interest has already waned

Sony's revenue is 75% software 25% hardware. It's stupid kneecapping yourself by forcing people to buy their console to give them more money via software.

The reason their software is so high is people buying stuff via their ecosystem. Minecraft brings in more money for them than most of their 1st party games combined.

So then what's the harm with bringing that same ecosystem to another platform?

It seems like the ones who want to play Minecraft on their consoles in the living room are different than the ones who want to play Minecraft on their PCs in their room. But both those people want to play the new Wolverine game. What if that persuades person 2 to play Minecraft on their PC for an hour, then go on their PS5 and finish the session there?

It seems putting the PS Store and PSN on PC is a win-win, but Sony seems adamant in wanting everyone to play using their PS5 and losing the sales.

If there's someone who can compete with the Steam ecosystem, it's Sony given how strong their IPs are and how it may induce people to have both a PC and PS5 or whatever handheld they want to release in the future

this is true, what is not worth is not having people pay their ecosystem, controllers, subscription overpriced games etc.

basically they can't scam you on pc
