FUHSD Trustee Candidate Jason Lin says being inclusive is “preparing students to fail”

REPOSTING FROM CUPERTINO SUBREDDIT

Ok y’all. I posted about this guy yesterday because of an ad I saw where he showed the UC application stats for Monta Vista and Homestead. I went digging down the internet rabbit hole and found an hour-long podcast interview and some of the stuff he said seriously concerned me.

The phrase “in real life, you don’t get a participation trophy” is true in some ways, but we ABSOLUTELY cannot apply that as a blanket statement to inclusion. Cupertino (and the whole Bay) is a wonderfully diverse place, and governing board members should absolutely support inclusion in our schools. It’s disappointing to me that he views it this way. His emphasis on UC Berkeley and UCLA acceptance rates also tells me that he only gives a shit about the kids with high grades who go to a prestigious college and get a prestigious job.

Also, on another forum, when asked about student mental health support programs, he said ‘support is not success’, and that we should evaluate the effectiveness of these programs. I do agree that we should always look to improve upon these programs, but based on his tone it felt like he was basically calling them a waste of money, and I don’t think he has any intention of supporting new initiatives or building upon existing ones.

Suicides in the Bay among students are dramatically high compared to other parts of the country. I think Palo Alto High has had four suicides in the past 6 years, and although FUHSD hasn’t had one since 2022, I still remember finding out about that poor boy from Homestead who jumped off the golden gate. It was such a devastation to our community and I can’t help to think what could have been done better by our district to prevent this.

Students NEED these programs and they need to know they’re safe in their schools. Although Rosa Kim isn’t the perfect candidate, she’s pretty damn good and LEAGUES better than this guy. Jason Lin certainly does not have my vote for Trustee Area 3.

If you are an FUHSD parent or community member, look up your trustee area on the map and VOTE!

Car accident - looking for footage

Post image
32 Upvotes

This is a long shot. I’m was involved in a car accident yesterday night 10/13/26 at 10:00pm at the intersection of W Maude and N Mathilda Ave. I was a blue Toyota driving on W Maude, while the white suv infinity was driving on N Mathilda.

In my lane and across from me, the green turn signals turned on with cars turning left. Then the turn signal turned red and the signal to turn straight turned on. I was stopped at the light and then proceeded forward. Next thing I know, I see a white infinity suv coming at me in my blind spot and I swerve trying not to get hit. Thankfully no known injuries for either party, we were able to pull off to the side of the road, and we were able to drive our vehicles home.

I did call the police to document the incident, but because we were not blocking traffic and no injuries reported, they said they weren’t going to show up. We did exchange information and I have a claim open with my insurance. But any additional footage would be awesome. I have contacted Valero, but no response. And the great gas station doesn’t have a phone number, but will go in person to ask.

I’m looking for camera footage if anyone has it, as I
don’t have dash cam footage nor does the other party.

1b1b apartment recommendations

Hello,

I’m moving to mountain view area for my job and would love to get some apartment recommendations.

I’m looking for a 1b1b in Mountain View, sunnyvale, santa clara areas

My budget is ideally around 3.5k

I’m looking for a luxury building where both my car and packages are safe. I’ve been reading a lot of reviews where people complain about these 2 things.

I want good amenities like a gym, pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts

All the prometheus apartments which is in most reddit recommendations seem to be 4k+ which is out of my budget.

My shortlist:
- Monticello
- tamarind square
- windsor apartments
- Encasa
- mansion grove

There seems to be one called Eaves middlefield which is cheaper but it doesn’t have in unit laundry

Amendment to Peery Park Area - CEQA

Last night planning commission heard a study session regarding an update to Peery Park. The proposed changes are rezoing two parcels to mixed use to include residential opportunities.

Notable is that they are studying relocating the historic Libby Tower to enable a larger mixed use project with housing. The housing is proximate to CalTrain station so a great location for transit oriented development.

24 Hr on Sunnyvale Saratoga - breaking MAGA?

I have been going to this location for more than a decade. The Tvs on the walls used to have a combination of sports, local news, and music. Over the last couple of weeks most screens have been tuned to Fox news. I have asked the associates to change them to ESPN or other channels, but when I go back the next day guess what channel they are on. I asked for the associate to leave a note for the manager, but not sure if that will be effective.

When I work out in the morning, the last thing I want is fear mongering hateful "news". Might have to switch out to a different gym if they dont fix it.

10/15 Update: Complaining to management seems to have fixed it. No more propaganda at the gym (on the downstairs screens at least, I dont go upstairs). Lets see if it comes back.

Country Gourmet: 40 years of building community in Sunnyvale

Here's a heart-warming story about Country Gourmet from correspondent Laura Ness. Co-owner Julia Blom once hated the restaurant because it took over the Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour spot, but one day, she took a job there in 1987, and it changed her life. She's now celebrating the restaurant's 40th anniversary.

Sunnyvale Costco rant

Just to preface, I know I’m not the victim here. I’m just here to rant and share a little Sunday Costco chaos LOL.

As we all know, Sunnyvale Costco on the weekends is absolute madness. My friend and I were just following the crowd, walking at the same pace as everyone else to keep the line moving past the banana section.

Meanwhile, this guy behind us was having an absolute MELTDOWN. Dude would not stop ranting and cussing everyone out, saying things like, “Why the f*** are these people walking so slow?? Every Sunday it’s always like this! These people are always taking their f***** time! F*** this sh**!”

And he just KEPT GOING. Mind you, we were all moving at the same painfully slow Costco-crowd pace. It’s not like anyone was intentionally holding up traffic. 💀

I’m generally non-confrontational, so I just kept my mouth shut and carried on.

Eventually, my friend and I turned right into the coffee section, and this man walked past us. I got a good look at him, and apparently, my patience had officially run out.

So what did I do? From a distance, I flipped him off with BOTH middle fingers. LOL.

Very mature of me, I know. 😂 I just wanted to release some pent-up frustration after listening to him complain for what felt like an eternity.

BUT LITTLE DID I KNOW… HIS WIFE WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AND SAW THE WHOLE THING. 💀💀💀

She immediately started cussing me out, and I went straight into apology mode. I profusely apologized and, honestly, didn’t even bother explaining why I did it in the first place. At one point, I literally said, “I’m so sorry, beautiful lady.” 😭

Thankfully, they eventually walked away, and I escaped the situation with my life and my Costco groceries.

In hindsight, I probably should’ve just kept my middle fingers to myself. I chose to escalate things instead of simply letting it go, so I’ll take the L on that one. LOL.

BUT ALSO… PSA: Sunnyvale Costco on a weekend is going to be packed. We ALL know this. You can huff, puff, and cuss out every person in front of you, but it’s not going to magically make the crowd move faster. We’re all just trying to get our groceries and go home.

Anyway, that’s my Sunday Costco lore. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Looking for a Dog Trainer Experienced with Reactive Samoyeds

Hi everyone!

I have an almost 2-year-old Samoyed who's very sweet but also stubborn and reactive, especially during walks and car rides. He struggles with excessive barking, jumping, leash pulling, and getting overly excited around triggers.

I'm looking for a trainer experienced with Samoyeds or similar breeds, particularly in managing reactivity, impulse control, and overstimulation.

I'd prefer someone who uses positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques, rather than punishment-based methods, and focuses on long-term improvement.

I'm looking for private, one-on-one sessions, either at our home or at the trainer's facility. We're based around the Sunnyvale/Mountain View/Cupertino area, but willing to travel a reasonable distance.

Has anyone worked with a trainer who helped improve these behaviors in their Samoyed? I'd really appreciate recommendations based on personal experience!

Thanks in advance!

Looking for good Hairdresser

Hello everyone! 😊
I’m looking for recommendations for a good hairdresser in and around the area who has experience cutting straight hair and is skilled at creating beautiful layers.
I’d love to find someone who understands how to add shape, movement, and volume to straight hair while keeping the haircut flattering and easy to maintain.
If you’ve had a great experience with someone, please share their name and salon. Personal recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
