MOD MOD POST: Defining Sexual Works & What Is and Is Not Allowed

Hello, everyone. It’s your Mod! I was hoping to not have to do this, but considering the amount of reports I’ve been getting lately it’s become a necessity.

Below I’m going to outline the content that is and isn’t allowed in this group and hopefully clear up a few things.

1. Sexual Content - What is it?

This is a group for plush/soft sculptures made by real life artists. Sometimes real life artists make defined shapes and nude sculpts. That does not mean the piece is inherently meant for sexual purposes.

David by Michelangelo

This statue of a nude man is not sexual. It's a work of art.

A pony plush butt. Not sexual.

Another plush butt on a humanoid doll. Not sexual.

A pony plush with a defined butt. Not sexual.

All of the above is allowed to be posted in this group. It's a plush. You aren't looking at porn.

However I will request that pieces with overt or very detailed anatomy be tagged as NSFW. So far the artists making pieces that fit that description are doing a great job with their tags.

2. Sexual Content - What's Not Allowed?

Like I said before, this is a group for ART. Sometimes art is nude. I will draw the line at pieces that are clearly meant for sexual gratification such as plush with openings specifically to insert silicone molds, or plush with silicone appendages attached. If its obvious and primary use is as a sex toy then it is NOT allowed.

3. Moving Forward

If seeing a plush with a butt, breasts, penis, etc makes you uncomfortable then that's ok. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. However, if it does not qualify as the definition of a sex toy then that piece will not be removed. If you don't like it, you don't have to remain in this group.

If I see anyone harassing artists who choose to make defined or nude plush, you'll be banned. No exceptions.

Please report any hateful comments or harassment to me.

[MOD POST]

Hello, everyone! I never expected this group to grow as much as it has! Thank you all for joining and I hope you’re enjoying all of the cute plushies.

I haven’t been as active on Reddit as much as I have in the past. Unfortunately, this means I’m usually late to seeing reported content.

The majority of reports I’m seeing are posts of manufactured plushies. This group will remain HANDMADE plushies only. I understand that a lot of small artists are getting plush made of their characters for their online shops and artist alley tables. I myself have my own manufactured brand of plush.

I love seeing creative designs from artists BUT if I start allowing manufactured plush or kickstarters in this group then it will be overrun with nothing but crowd funding campaigns.

So all manufactured plush posts will be removed. No exceptions.

Other reports I’m seeing involve people wanting to commission plush based on another artist’s design. Copying another artist’s original work is generally frowned upon & disrespectful in the plush making community.

Posts asking for replicas of another artist’s original work will be removed.

I’ll be updating this group little by little in my free time and I’m actively looking for more mod help.

Please bear with me as I’m recovering from carpal tunnel surgery. Sewing takes its toll!

If I’m needed urgently please contact me through instagram. The link is in my bio.

I want to credit lumble.plushies on instagram for the inspiration, my trinket budget has already gone overboard recently lol so I decided to try my best to make this myself. Thrifted the material and I really like it. Its like some kind of velour. Work in progress because the mustard needs to dry and I plan on making him into a keychain.

I love making crochet dolls but they take SO long and when I saw a video of someone sewing a plush I wanted to try so bad. I already had a bunch of random felt from crocheting/ other craft projects. So I bought a pattern and went to work! I haven’t sewn anything since elementary school, and I only had embroidery thread so it’s not the best and one of the arms looks like trash and I ran out of pale felt for the bottom legs but I’m really proud of it!! My thumb is a bit sore now though 😭. I have to figure out how to make clothes for it though…. And how to give them a nice haircut.
I’m going to the craft store tomorrow to get better fabric and actual sewing stuff lol. I’m so excited to make my favorite characters!!
Sorry for the long text I’m just really excited and wanted to share with someone.

Been working on this pattern for about two weeks now, and am really happy with how it turned out! I tried a lot of new methods with this one, and I’d never made a pattern this way before either!

Silvally is a pokemon, for those who don’t know, and has always been my favourite!

Side note: I didn’t have the right colour of purple for the scale details on their back lags, but rest assured they will be added when I get my hands of some dark purple ;)

Id love to hear your thoughts on how this pattern came out, I’m super proud of it!

Buggy is a plushmaker, so these strips are loosely inspired by the weird little moments that come with custom commission work. Figured this one might be relatable here haha

QUESTION Weighted plushie help

Hello! my little cousin was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and is struggling quite a bit with sleep.

I thought about making her a weighted plushie (crochet), but when I did a prototype, I realized yarn was a bit dangerous due to the numerous holes in between crochet stitches.

SO. First time doing a plush with fabric, I need all the tips and tricks I can get, please!

I've heard fluffy fabric is quite tricky to sew, and I'm not sure what filling is optimal for the weighted bit.

Thanks in advance!

QUESTION wanting to dye a spicific area of a plush

i plan on getting a plush, cuss its so close to the limited edition one i want, its only one color off, and the color i need to add is BLACK, and i cant sew!
part of it would be coloring embroidery, i can imagen theres a good marker for that
but the inner ears are the problem, i cant just dunk them, cus it would muddy the hot pink, and im slightly worried about it bleeding

plush im planning to get
plush i want it to look like

any advice is helpful
