Serious Woman arrested after blocking delivery robot in Center City Philadelphia confrontation
Fuck these robots and the PPD. They think they can gut the 1st amendment just so Uber can make a few bucks.

I have a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and Masters in Psychology. I have been working in emergency services as a Dispatcher for 12 years. I keep going back to that type of work because it is difficult to find anything else. I live in Pittsburgh area but I need diversity for my two daughters. Can anyone tell me who is hiring in my field please?

My mum is coming to visit for Halloween, flying from the UK via Dublin with Aer Lingus. One of the selling points is that you clear immigration/customs in Dublin.
Everything Google is saying they fly to Terminal A West and have to clear customs again. Has anyone flown this route and do you know where we would expect to pick her up?
Thanks all for the quick replies! No 2nd immigration is a relief

Finally passed a bill that literally everyone was for except for Jeffery Young. Must be concerned about the 2027 primary.

Good god this city is corrupt. Can we get every candidate for city council on the record about this issue? I want to know who not to vote for.

Hey everyone! A friend of mine has always wanted to experience riding on the back of a motorcycle, even if it’s just for 15–20 minutes.
I was wondering if there are any biker bars, motorcycle meetups, or events in or around Philly where we could meet some experienced riders who might be willing to take her for a short ride as a passenger.
Any recommendations on where to look? Thanks!

We have a couple of homeless guys who frequently visit the alley behind our house and like to set up boxes and do a cocktail of drugs back there. Besides calling the cops, does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to ward them off? We have a toddler and just worried about safety. thanks :)

Hi, Thanks for your interest in Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site. Ongoing maintenance work is being carried out to ensure the site is both comfortable for visitors and that the original building is properly preserved. Unfortunately, the site will not reopen in 2026. We are hoping for a possible reopening in Spring 2027, though we do not yet have a firm date. Please check the website periodically for updates: https://www.nps.gov/edal/planyourvisit/conditions.htm
my note: the site they linked was just the home page. this is the actual site that talks about the conditions. this information is not on this site, which is why i inquired via email.

Probably a bit of a stretch, but anybody from Philly who went or still in evergreen state college at Olympia, Washington? If so, what was it like for you in detail? I'm planning on going after my two years at community college of Philadelphia, so I'm wondering if any other natives from here went there or did online classes there. Thanks!

TLDR: Can't find a single place in the city thats willing to let me pay a diagnostic fee to either a) use a test bench/bare mobo setup to hook a 4090 GPU up for testing myself, or b) at least be present in the room when an employee does it. Any recs for a small or lesser known place that offers this service, even in the surrounding area? I'm willing to drive an hour or so if need be.
I strictly need recs for this specific service, as I'm a decently experienced builder, so I've tested it thoroughly but have a somewhat unique situation, detailed in this post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PcRetailers/s/rsZ42kJup3
Every single place I called in the city limits insisted I drop the card off and leave it for testing, which I'm not about to do with something thats discontinued and currently going for $5k+ due to the AI spawned GPU scarcity, especially given how less reputable shops have been gutting/stealing these cards for parts/resale AND the fact that the card is still under warranty, which they could easily void trying to open it up.
Offering use of a test bench for a fee was a VERY common practice pre-covid (last time I did a full build), due in no small part to people meeting at a store to test a GPU for second hand sale with the customer present to verify the card works. Despite this, every place I called either couldn't understand what I was asking for (pretty sure they were phone repair places pretending to do "computer work"), told me outright that they don't offer anything like that and that I "won't find anywhere that would let you do that," and one even straight up laughed at me when I asked if I could at least be present if they insisted on testing the card themselves. Every single place insisted I drop the card off and leave it completely unattended for them to "run full diagnostics" (its literally plugging the card in and seeing if the OS recognizes it, might take 20 minutes TOPS), and the few shops I was familiar with pre-covid have all closed down.
In any event, this is not by any means a crucial need as its mostly for peace of mind before I send it off for RMA, but theres a few things nagging me that I didn't try, so it'd be worth seeking out a test bench before entering the private hell that is the RMA process in the datacenter/AI era with an items that is worth almost 5x it's retail price on the second market.
Thanks in advance!

Visiting Philadelphia over a three day weekend to experience the city and catch up with family. Any reccs?

Early morning views of the city, just a little ways from my hotel.
Walking to see the iconic "Rocky Steps" and The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Bust of Benjamin Franklin by Jean-Antoine Houdon on display at the aforementioned museum.
Shot of Reading Terminal Market from across the street.
Shoot. Is this City Hall? It's beautiful, regardless.
A cute little bookstore I found. I bought some pretty neat books here!
Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, which was absolutely fascinating.
An art exhibit at the Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site honoring the victims of the prison's offenders.
Just a cute little street that I thought looked pretty in the overcast weather.
My walk to Boathouse Row in the rain.
Gorgeous view from the row itself (I think, haha).
Just some of the delicious food that I enjoyed over the weekend. I'll try to list more details in a comment, where I have more room.

Moving to Philly Nov 1 for a one-year lease. I’ll commute to Media from Suburban three days a week and work from home two days. I’m choosing between these two 1BRs, both between 15th and 16th:
A: 1521 Spruce #301
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1521-Spruce-St-APT-301-Philadelphia-PA-19102/463415899_zpid/
B: 1536 Pine #2R
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1536-Pine-St-2R-Philadelphia-PA-19102/2056245488_zpid/
Both have $1,795 base rent, but Spruce includes water and Pine charges another $50/month. So it’s $1,795 versus $1,845 before electricity, internet and insurance.
A — Spruce
- Listed at approximately 700 sq ft; third-floor walk-up.
- Mini-split AC in the living room and bedroom.
- Newly renovated
- Smaller living room with built-in shelving/bench beneath the living-room windows.
- Local landlord whose office is next door.
- Smaller living room than Pine
B — Pine
- Listed at approximately 750 sq ft; second-floor rear unit.
- Larger-looking living room with tall ceilings, an alcove and a chandelier.
- Private deck accessed through the bedroom.
- Paneled doors, old wood floors and cast-iron radiators.
- Older kitchen/bath finishes, a blue tub and ceiling tiles in the bedroom.
- Window AC in the living room and a through-wall unit in the bedroom.
- Private owner who lives out of state; a storefront occupies the ground floor.
Looking at the photos and layouts, which would you prefer and why
