I mean if they did this I would switch to Linux. Same with hundreds of thousands of other people. Surely they can't be THIS fucking stupid.

Why wait? You can switch today!

Literally because I'm lazy.

The second Windows stops being convenient for me I'm jumping. But I have a castrated LTS win 10 and have had no problems since I set it up, so I don't bother going to a distro.

It's all about convenience.

Literally because I'm lazy.

Changing things in Linux is easier than changing them in Windows. If you're lazy, it's significantly easier.

  1. Hey Chat GPT, here's the problem.
  2. Hey Lazy, here's the command to check the settings, copy, paste, and run.
  3. Here's the result.
  4. Great. Here's the command to change the setting.
  5. Thanks!

Edit: Pointing out how easy Linux is to use with Chat GPT always gets downvotes. It remains true.

Problem is how would you know what the command actually does? How would you verify the command it gives as a new person to Linux?

I wouldn't trust a random command I find online, much less an LLM.

There's help built-in.

man sudo

Preface the command with 'man' to get the manual page entry for that command. The above example would bring up the manual page for the sudo command, here's a screenshot.

 sudo --help

Suffix a command with '--help' to get a more modest explanation of the command. Here's a screenshot.

You can also examine the code yourself and deduce a lot correctly just from common sense. For instance, if you see a file path, you know that location is being read or written to (or both). There's also search engines and web forums you can use for research. And you can check with other AI agents too unless you're concerned they're all colluding against you.

Merely making any effort whatsoever to try to find out what a command does is sufficient to discover what it does. It's kind of humiliating in the sense that anything we don't know about the terminal is our own fault for not lifting a finger to find out.

I am not lazy in the sense of learning a new system, I have linux on my work laptop. Though often no, changing deeper things is not easier in Linux. Copy pasting commands on Linux without knowing what they do is insane.

Do not do that. Or do, but the you pay people like me to repair your workstation.

I am lazy because my gaming pc works and I would have to perform system swap, and I'm too lazy to do it when everything works.

You misunderstood the post.
