I mean some ppl were paying ~$1200 for a PS5 at one point.

The funny things is I noticed that a lot of people paying the scalper prices aren’t even rich. I always thought it was the people who were loaded that didn’t give a shit about scalper prices and just bought whatever was available because they had fuck-you money but no, the 3 people who I know that paid scalper prices were retail/fast-food workers lol.

You can't build a ps5 though.

You can litterally build a steam machine all by yourself thanks to SteamOS.

It'll never be as quiet, compact, or have CEC functionality the way the Steam Machine does and the Machine is only marked up at like a 10% premium on the lowest storage model. You're not even really saving that much money making it yourself. At that point you'd just build a stronger PC

LTT literally built a PC with double the performance for the same money, and you can have CEC functionality with a supported CEC adapter. Also, I would rather have an RGB PC under my TV than this ugly box.

Yes, I watched that exact video too. I know about it.

Nah, I don’t want RGB in my living room. Discreet looking gaming PCs are way nicer

He is right though. It’ll never be as quiet or compact. It’ll never have the support from Valve either.

Linus has already walked back a lot of what he said on his podcast

I don't care about it being quiet or compact. I don't live in a shoebox, and I have better speakers system to hide the sound.

It’ll never have the support from Valve either.

You only get a 1-year warranty with the Cube. If you buy it DIY, the motherboard and CPU have a 3-year warranty, and the RAM has a 12-year warranty, which is more.

You don’t have to care about it, but some people do lol.

Some people are gonna pack it with them. The things about it you can’t easily recreate are what people like.

Some people are shills and love the taste of the boot.

Why is it bootlicking to like the steam machine hardware lol?

Eh there’s a few trade offs you just physically cannot do yourself. You can get the basics of it down though I’ve done it before

Not all poor people are poor simply because they are in unfortunate circumstances. Many are also impoverished because they make poor life choices.
