My college area is doing a monologue competition, but if you get to the final it's at this big event and there's a huge amount of writers and directors and producers from the area that are looking for actors to play parts in movies and TV shows and all that jazz. The 4 finalists from the past 3 years all got parts in movies, and many people who didn't get to the final still got parts even though they didn't win.
I'm only looking for ideas for monologues. I know people resonate with monologues for different personal reasons so there's a high chance I might not even pick any from the comments. And before anyone flames me, I'm not doing it to get into movies and TV shows and 'oh yeah I'm gonna be on tv'. No, I'm doing it because I love it. It's my passion. I wanna put myself out there and gain experience and opportunities.
It has to be no longer than 2 minutes
Age range: 16 - 19 (okay if off by a few years)
Gender: Any
Thank you so much for any suggestions!!! :D

I (17M) know i cant go proffesional rn, but i wanna start making an image in theatre(because our school gives us the opertunity). I worked as technical (sound and lighting) this year, but next year is my last chance to get in since next years my last year in school and i wanna have a main role in atleast one of the plays(theres 3 plays usually) and a good role in the other two. I want a monologue that can show i can play in comedies, dramas and verry deep emotional pieces, because the guy that writes the theatre pieces loves to write 2 super deep pieces and 1 comedy usually.
I wanna show veriety and show my full potential as an actor.
I had acting experience before in the schools drama class where i would get 90%+ on the acting stuff, but 50%- for the monologues, but throughout this year i was with the theatre people theyve learnt me how to do monologues, so i want one that can push me.
Can anybody help me get a monologue that will get me a main role plsš
Im fine if its self written or from the internet aslong as its a fun piece to act :)
In the wise words of that random kid on fortnite... "PLEASE SPEED I NEED THISSSSšš"
Thanks for reading... heres a cookiešŖ

Hi, I'm planing to audition for a Halloween themed drama showcase and have been searching for a monologue to use. However the problem is all the ones I find are too corny and unknown, a song, or too scary.
So basically I'm looking for a monologue that
-Isn't corny or from a super obscure show (when I say corny I mean I want it to sounds like it wasn't written for five year olds.
-Isn't a song (I can't sing)
-Is family friendly (not to scary/not straight horror)
-Is ideally 2-3 minutes, cannot be more than 5.
Thank you so much to anyone who can find one I'd owe my life to youš .

I'm auditioning for the characters of Simon and Piggy but I'm not sure what monolouge to do. I would find one myself but I'm never sure if the monolouge is from a real play or not. I'm looking for a monolouge that fits Simon, like the crazed, yet silent person he is.

I am auditioning for Susan from Narnia, and I need a monologue that is at least a minute and goes along with her character

Search plays, monologues, and scripts. Read them like a book instead of a PDF.
Still early, but I'd genuinely love feedback from actors, writers, and theatre people.

I'm starting to think about MFA auditions, and I'm looking for monologues from plays that would suit a woman in her late 20s / early 30s. I've got the classical / Shakespearean pieces already, so I'm looking for something a bit more contemporary for these ones.
More info on me for recommendation purposes:
- I'm a femme-presenting queer woman
- I'm short, white, and brunette
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Hello! I'm applying for acting programs in the coming school year and for my top choice their requirements state they want two contrasting monologues under 2 minutes. I have a bit of a difficult time distinguishing that myself so I was wondering if I could get some feedback if the monologues I've been eyeing to do would be good in contrast.
I'm a big Star Trek fan so the two I have picked out for right now are Data's monologue to Geordi inĀ 'Time's Arrow Part 1'Ā "I have often wondered about my own mortality as I have seen other's around me age. Until now it has been theoretically Possible that I would live an unlimited period of time. And although some might find this attractive, to me it only reinforces the fact that I am... Artificial."Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbnG4Vzf-VY
Ā (0:57-1:14)
and Garak's monologue to Sisko inĀ 'The Pale Moonlight'Ā "That's why you came to me, isn't it captain? Because you knew I could do those things that you weren't capable of doing. Well, it worked. And you'll get what you wanted: a war between the Romulans and the Dominion. And if your conscience is bothering you, you should soothe it with the knowledge that you may have just saved the entire Alpha Quadrant, and all it cost was the life of one Romulan senator, one criminal... and the self-respect of one Starfleet officer. I don't know about you, but I'd call that a bargain."Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNCw_avF_Qg
Ā (3:18-4:01)
I truly love these monologues, I'm just unsure if they work in contrast together. Let me know your thoughts, or if you have any other monologue ideas that would work in contrast with one of these monologues. Thank you!!

Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question, but Iām a musical theatre person that doesnāt typically monologue š
Iām planning on auditioning for Come From Away which is set in Newfoundland, however, characters are from everywhere due to the airspace being closed on 9/11, so the audition notice states āAs Come From Away utilizes multiple accents we would like you to display your accent ability within your monologue.ā Most noted accents (for someone white like myself) are southern and Newfoundland.
I was recently given Beccaās monologue from Rabbit Hole about the fruit roll-ups and thought I could showcase 2 accents in there (her being the storyteller and possibly āmockingā the mom in another accent), but is that trying too hard/odd to do in a monologue? Iām honestly at a loss for a monologue for this.

Hi. So im doing a monologue audition and i was thinking of doing a monologue called job hunt. The time given is under 2 mins and it fits perfectly. But a friend of mine was saying that you shouldn't pick monolgues that domt come from plays or musicals.
So im kinda worried also the things tmr so,
Ill just copy past the monoglogue if anyone would like to read it and share their thoughts:
This is terrible. How bad of a candidate do I have to be to get rejected from Chuck E. Cheese? Three times, by the way. I donāt understand what Iām doing wrong. Is it my resume? Is Indeed just a fake app that doesnāt send in your application or resume? I donāt even get a chance to interview before I get denied. And the first interview I got at SeaWorld, let me tell you what happened. When I enter, Iām the best-dressed person. Everyone else looks like they came from a golf course. One girl is even wearing Crocs and the worst outfit Iāve seen. I was called in, and this man pointed out every way he could have contacted me: my number, my motherās number, my email, my backup email, and my address. All this, and then he tells me the position is no longer available. Are you joking? You couldnāt have called me? Texted me? Emailed me? Sent me a letter through a flipping pigeon to tell me my application was worthless? Whatever! I donāt care. I just interviewed at a coffee shop near my house. I had them laughing, and smiling, and I was asking amazing questions, āWhat is needed for a person to succeed at this job?ā āWhy did you start working here?ā I sounded very professional. I looked very professional. I was early. I was perfect. They said theyād call on Monday. I waited and then got a text message that said, āWe have proceeded with other candidates.ā Now Iām hoping, BEGGING, PLEADING, ON MY KNEES, I NEEDED A JOB! I know Iām young, but having a job would be such a relief. Iād get out of the house and make my own money. If I get a job, Iāll have independence. So please, someone hire me!

My community theatre is planning on doing Come From Away this fall and I am a VERY young looking 30 year old, so I realized my only option is Janice.
Iām planning on using āIf You Knew My Storyā from Bright Star for my audition piece, but Iām struggling with choosing a monologue. Would it be too obvious if I did like a news announcer type monologue since Iām going for Janice?
Outside of this theatre, I have never had to use a monologue nor have I ever had a speaking role, so I genuinely donāt know where to start. I know the answer is to just āread plays,ā but even then, I donāt know what plays to even start with and Iām honestly not a huge reader. I donāt mean to sound lazy, I just need all of the help that I can get since reading plays is very overwhelming. Even if there might be plays I should read and try to pull a monologue from, I will take those suggestions as well!

Hello! I am auditioning for a production of a Greek play at my school, and the director wants a pretty specific monologue criteria for our audition: "Ask them, please, to prepare a piece in which their character faces choices and are working out the problem. Also, look for pieces in which their character makes a discovery that changes them.ā It can be any gender, age range, etc. it just has to be about working through a choice. It can also be from any time period, Greek--contemporary, and I am comfortable with performing any time period as well (especially Shakespeare), but I have been scouring NPX and other plays for ages and I just can't find anything. I am sure there's an obvious Shakespeare one that I'm just not thinking of lol. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi!
For my acting class, I need a 1-minute monologue. My teacher wants us to find something similar to us. I'm a 19-year-old Caucasian female, so my character needs to also be like that. We can work around the age a little, so like 15-25. It would also be best if the monologue came from a recent movie, tv show, or play (2020-present). We also want it more realistic, so no sci-fi or Marvel or that sort of thing. Please help! Google hasn't gotten me much!

hey everyone, been struggling with finding fresh monologue material lately
spent 6 hours this weekend reading through plays just to find one decent piece for an audition tomorrow. there's gotta be a faster way right?
built https://www.actorrise.com to solve this - find the monologue you need in under 20 seconds. search naturally like "funny piece for woman in 20s about family drama" and get instant results
happens to be the largest database out there but honestly just want something that works fast when you're prepping for tomorrow's audition
free to try if anyone else is tired of wasting hours hunting for material
shoot me a DM or reply here I am always available to help or receive feedback

I wrote this when i was bored about what i was thinking about. criticisms about my writing and the subject are much appreciated . The ramblings of a mad droplet I'm sinking... not in water, but in the endless tides of the world that are people. Day by day, night after night, I think of escaping to higher grounds, reaching the skies and touching the clouds, but day by day, I realize more that rather than a sinking man, I'm but a droplet in this infinitely massive ocean. I try to resist it, I really do, to stop myself from becoming an ordinary man, to become something greater than the whole, to at least be able to blame my fate and misfortune on all of my failures without a tinge of guilt in my heart. But the more I do, the more I think to myself, "That's what the other droplets are doing, too." So, does my struggle to not be part of the whole mean that I am contributing to becoming more of it? Maybe. I don't know. But what I do know is that I am here and I'm trying to escape. Do I really want to escape? Maybe I'm just trying to fit in? No, maybe I'm trying to be ahead of the other droplets, to be seen, remembered, loved by them? But why? Why do I seek the validation of those who are the same as me? Maybe because we are not the same? Because every single droplet is a singular, unique entity without anything matching it in existence at being itself? Or because someone else told me I should want it? I don't know. But what I do know is, as I struggle with these thoughts of mine, instead of trying to get out of the water, I'm slowly accepting that I'm but a droplet.
