I’m hoping someone in the Monmouth County area might be able to help me find a guitar that means a lot to my family.
My grandfather lived in Hazlet, NJ, and passed away at 91 last year. Shortly before he passed, he had started taking guitar lessons that summer at Keyport Music, where he purchased the guitar. His royal-blue acoustic guitar was very special to me, and I’d always hoped to have it someday. My son, who is named after my grandpa, was born shortly after his passing and I always envisioned him learning to play on that special blue guitar.
Unfortunately, my uncle, who is handling his estate, sold the guitar to Red Bank Antiques for $25. The store owner told me he subsequently sold it to a woman for cash. The owner doesn’t have her contact information, so we’re trying to find her another way.
I’ve attached the best photo I have of my grandfather playing the guitar.
If you purchased this guitar, know someone who did, or remember seeing it listed for sale around Red Bank, I’d be incredibly grateful if you reached out. I would love the opportunity to buy it back and keep it as a family keepsake. I’m not looking to blame or confront the buyer; I just hope to bring my grandfather’s guitar home.
Even a share or suggestion about where else to look would mean so much to me. Thank you. 💙
