Feedback Request Guidelines
How Submission Works (READ THIS FIRST)
All new feedback requests are automatically removed upon posting. This is normal system behavior and does not mean your post was rejected or that you are banned.
Every submission must be reviewed manually by a moderator before it appears publicly. To get your post approved, follow these three steps:
- Give feedback first: Comment on at least two of the most recent feedback request threads in the subreddit.
- Post your track: Create your post following the formatting and link rules listed below. Your post will be automatically removed by AutoModerator immediately.
- Send us a Modmail: Once you have posted, message the moderators to request approval. Include links to the two feedback comments you left. We will review your comments and manually approve your post.
If you do not send a modmail, we mods won't know that you made a post, it will stay removed.
Subreddit Requirements
Account Eligibility
- Karma: You must have at least 5 comment karma earned specifically within r/mixingmastering. You can earn this by participating in general discussions or leaving feedback on other tracks.
- User Flair: You must set a user flair indicating your skill level before posting.
- No Upvote Requests: Asking for upvotes or karma trades will result in an immediate ban.
Post Flair
- You must select the "Feedback" flair when submitting.
- If you select the wrong flair, you must delete and repost. Changing the flair after submitting will not trigger the approval system.
Content and Audio Rules
Song Status and Ownership
- Finished Songs Only: Do not request feedback on incomplete tracks, missing vocals, or rough arrangements. Mix feedback is only useful when the track structure is finalized.
- Your Work Only: You must be the engineer who mixed or mastered the track. Do not post work done by hired engineers or third parties. To discuss commercial releases by other artists, use the "Question" or "Discussion" flair instead.
- No Self-Promotion: Threads must be genuine requests for technical critique. Sharing a finished, released track solely to gain plays, views, or followers is prohibited.
Public Listening Links
All requests must include a direct, publicly accessible listening link. Private review requests are not allowed.
Allowed Audio Hosts:
- Vocaroo (Recommended: no registration required)
- Whyp
- Fidbak
- Major Cloud Storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box) with public sharing permissions enabled.
Prohibited Audio Hosts: Do not use YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, LANDR, or Linktree pages. Posts containing these links will be permanently removed.
Post Quality and Engagement
- Descriptive Titles: Generic titles like "Rate my mix" or "Thoughts?" are not permitted. Your title must describe the genre, your experience level, or the specific mixing challenge you are facing.
- Stay Active: You are expected to respond to the members who take time to listen and provide critique. Abandoning your thread may affect future submission approvals.
