Looking through the StraussâHowe generational theory, I present my evidence:
The Greatest gen generally left their kids (Silent gen) to their own devices. They grew knowing absolute freedom and community but lacked the structure of a defined objective in life, and overcorrected with their offspring (Boomers)
Silent gen grew to be narcissistic helicopter parents that controlled every aspect of their children's lives, beating them into a bonzai tree in hopes the shape they've been forced to take will fit them into society. Boomers grew up having not known their true selves, and grew to resent their elders for it despite preaching the contrary.
Boomers overcorrected with their offspring (Gen X/millenials) But maintained the narcissistic, self obsessed nonsense. Difference is, they exercised little control over all but a few aspects of their lives, expecting them to "Figure it out" and were emotionally unavailable to their children, as they instead embark on a journey og self discovery decades too late. Gen X and early millennials knew freedom, like the Silent gen, but lacked structure and a purpose.
Today, parents (mostly Gen X) overcorrected with todays young adults (Gen Z). Controlling much of their lives, beating them into bonzai trees. With less sadism than the silent gen, but it is still damaging to them. They will grow with similar regrets and resentment Boomers had and decide to overcorrect with their children (Gen Beta) the same way boomers have. They will discover themselves decades late like Boomers have, and be emotionally closed off to their children like boomers were.
We will be hated in the mid-late 21st century for the same reasons the Boomers are. Date should be at the halfway point of the 21st century (2050s) up until the 2080s.
