Lethbridge West - the downtown/Melcor polling place has no wait time. As long as you’re eligible to vote in Lethbridge West, you can go vote down there. I’ve heard the YMCA has long, long lines.
Find out where you can vote here: https://www.elections.ab.ca/current-election-information/where-do-i-vote/

Media/Image There were roughly a billion red-winged blackbirds at Park Lake yesterday evening
They're starting their fall migration. If you want a show, head up to the lake this week around sunset.

Taco Bell West Lethbridge Closing
I see the Taco Bell sign was taken down today.
An employee told me tonight that today is the last day of Taco Bell. It’s just going to be a KFC going forward. I asked if a new Taco Bell might be opening elsewhere in Lethbridge, but they didn’t know.
That means the closest Taco Bell will be Calgary, unless a new location opens up somewhere else.

Advance Voting Wait Times
I just voted at the Southside voting station and was in and out in under 20 minutes. The line looks about the same as when I started.
Feel free to drop a comment with your wait time for anyone else worried about a long wait.

City Council has deferred a pro-Canada motion under October 20
facebook.comRecently Councilors Crowson, Schmidt-Rempel and Doria along with Mayor Hyggen introduced a motion affirming Lethbridge's place as a vital part of Alberta and Canada. This was intended as a motion opposing the idea of separating from Canada and stressing the economic damage that separation would do.
Today instead of voting on it, 5 council members misplaced their spines and deferred the motion until after the referendum is over. Those 5 are Mayor Hyggen, and Councilor Doria, Beeber, Campbell, and Wolfe. You read that right - two of the people who sponsored the original bill deferred it until after the election.
Sorry for the Facebook link - I haven't seen proper news sources yet, but Councilor Crowson confirmed it as well as former mayor Chris Spearman.

Any good places to learn pottery?
I was wondering if there is anywhere to learn how to make pottery for beginners, especially mugs. I looked it up online, but really don't know what the different stores are like and to what level they teach

Question Family Passes to Gift
Hi all!
Have a family member who lives in Lethbridge and largely navigates solo parenting due to their spouse working out of town. They have 3 kids between the ages of 8 - 14.
I'd like to gift them some seasons or family passes for a season of things to do in town to make it easier on them. If this were Calgary I'd be doing something like a Zoo, Callaway Park, Heritage Park, etc seasons pass.
What might be available in Lethbridge for me to gift to them? I'm not overly familiar with attractions in town or nearby. They do have vehicle access so transit is not a concern.
Thanks in advance!

Small part Silver/Gold plating
Do any of the local jewelry places or are there any hobbyists that would do some plating for small parts, specifically the rims of a couple of instrument mouthpieces?
Oddball thing for sure, but figured I'd see if anyone had a lead before I started cold calling the couple of custom jewelers in town.

Question Safe families: iso information and opinions
My friend was pressured into assistance from this organization.
It is now controlling my friends day to day life. I wasn't worried before but, now it's quite concerning what has been going on.
I've done my web searches for information and it does not line up.
Is Safe Families a public service?
Is Safe Families equal to Child Protective Services?
Is Safe Families in partnership with the Lethbridge Police Services?
Can Safe Families interven and remove children from a home which THEY deem unfit?
Can Safe Families determine what a parent should and shouldn't do?
Does Safe Families have accredited professionals working directly with families?
When my friend was over tired and just finished work; why did Safe Families have my friend sign papers?
Why won't Safe Families provide copies of the signed papers to my friend?
Why is the person volunteering for Safe Families telling my friend that they are the same as child services and that they work directly with the police?
Why does Safe Families pressure my friend to attend or send their children to attend, their church services? Especially if Safe Families is considered a public service?
There is so much more that worries me.
Information about this organization, that I have personally collected, does not line up with all of these tactics and information shared directly with my friend. I'm concerned that the worker who is controlling my friend, is manipulating and not helping.
Edit to add: my friend did not seek out assistance from them. They approached my friend and sold them a "we can solve all your problems" pitch when they were in a vulnerable state.

I've been putting CAIRN the roleplaying game in the Lil Libraries. Any TTRPG-ers here?
As the title says. Just curious if there's folks out there playing games outside D&D (no shade on D&D, I'm just played out on it). This isn't even a recruitment for players, necessarily, just curious about the community itself.

Making friends
Trying to make friends in my 30’s
Hi! I moved to Lethbridge recently and would love to meet other Latina women here. I’m in my 30s and a mom and making friends as an adult especially with kids has been harder than I expected.
I grew up with Latina girlfriends and really miss that connection, speaking Spanish together, and sharing our similarities. Are there any local groups or meetups? Or anyone interested in getting together for coffee or a playdate? You definitely don’t have to be a mom! 😊

Question Sensory friendly haircuts?
I would like to get my hair cut (womens cut) but a big deterrent for me is that they always blow dry my hair. It seems silly to neurotypical folks, I get that. But it’s just an absolute nightmare experience for me. Does anyone know of a salon where they’d be okay to let you leave with wet hair? I just need the cut but I guess they don’t want their clients leaving looking undone.
Thanks so much!!
Edit: thank you everyone, I didn’t realize there were so many options! I’m really excited to get my haircut now
