PSA [OTHER] Fired from Warhorse Studios and replaced with AI

22.6k Upvotes

Hey everyone,

My name is Max H, and I've been working at Warhorse Studios since July 2022 as a Czech>English translator and editor. I primarily worked on KCD2 and its DLCs, including dialogues, quest logs, item names, and various other things, as well as some occasional marketing materials here and there. Simply put, if you've ever played KCD2 in English, you've quite likely seen my work.

Yesterday, March 27th 2026, with no forewarning, I was invited to a meeting and promptly told that, in an effort to "make the company more effective" and "save finances", as of next month, my position at the company would become "obsolete" in favour of using AI for all translations going forward. This came as a huge shock to me, as though the discussion about using AI for translating had frequently come up in the past, something I was always strongly and vocally against, but never to the extent that it might actually cost me my job in the future. It had, of course, crossed my mind many times, but I naively thought my work at WHS was valued enough that I might not be at immediate risk.

I feel incredibly betrayed by the management of the company I've come to care about greatly these past almost 4 years, and am heartbroken I won't get to see my friends and colleagues at the office every day.

I want you to know that the growing use of AI greatly affects people in the games industry and many others, and I thought you should know how much the company that makes the games you love value the work of their employees, not to mention the environment.

To any of my now-former colleagues reading this, I wish you all the best, and strongly hope none of you finds yourselves in the same position as me.

To all management at Warhorse, I won't be breaking my NDA, of course, nor am I looking for my job back or to start legal issues, but you can be damn sure I won't keep quiet about my experience.

To anyone else reading, thanks for making it this far, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer them if I can.

EDIT: This got a lot more comments a lot sooner than I thought. Many thanks to everyone showing their support, it's a bit overwhelming to tell the truth, but just know that I truly appreciate <3 To those who doubt the truthfulness of this post, all I can say is I understand it's hard to believe everything you read online, but everything I said here is true. I've verified my LinkedIn with one of the mods here, and would post my notice of termination here, but I'm not sure if it's legal to do so without breaking my NDA, so I'll err on the side of caution. While I can't legally confirm or deny whether or not Warhorse is working on anything at the moment, I will say that while much slower than usual, I did in fact have work to do, and was laid off near the end of a normal work day during which I was completely oblivious to what was coming. I'm going to go out and touch some grass for a while, but will check back in later and answer some questions. Thanks for reading everyone and all the best <3

EDIT 2: PLEASE don't harass anyone from WHS or review bomb their games on Steam, that isn't my intention at all. All I want is for people to be more informed about what's going on it the games industry behind closed doors.

30+ hours into the game and JUST UNTIL NOW watching a video did i notice the enemy health bar on your screen!!! It’s the purple bar to the left of your health bar. I added a red arrow to this. Now we can stop guessing what the enemy health bar is when fighting a 4v1

PSA [KCD2] Found a road that loops - For AFK horseback riding perk for either Pebbles or Herring

Post image
2.7k Upvotes

Now, I know this is a silly post, but I really did try to find a good spot for this. Most spots end with a deadend, and so I searched quite thoroughly in the Kuttenberg region for something like this.

For index text purposes: Start your route in Raborsch. The Main road through the town, from south-west -> north-east. The loop takes you around the southern portion of the towns fields, just before crossing the little river to the East. The route should be CLOCKWISE.

It's quite the simple route on the Kuttenberg side. Enjoy.

You don't even take damage or bother with dodging, just basic block and you'll somehow duck and weave.

PSA [KCD2] PSA: Somethings in the game are hard to do because you have no skill, not because it’s a bad mechanic

1.6k Upvotes

Talking about lockpicking and combat specifically but some other things as well. Seen a lot of people complaining about how hard they are. Of course combat is going to be difficult when your warfare and sword skill is 10, or lockpicking is gonna be near impossible on a medium lock when your thievery is 8. The more you use skills the easier they become you just have to figure out what you can handle. Also a lot do the perks make things easier.

Combat is great when you actually practice with the combos and positioning, and lockpicking becomes so much easier, you can even cheese harder locks by backing out until you get a position close to the center. Just thought some new players should know that the difficulty is not because the game is designed poorly but because their character is a yokel. The game rewards you for practice.

PSA PSA: Try to do *every single side quest possible* before the Wedding. Spoiler

1.6k Upvotes

The Wedding is far, farrr more impactful when you literally know everyone there, and they know you. It was honestly one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in gaming. I felt 1000% rewarded for doing everything else first.

Plus, you have a nicely leveled up Henry, which will make the main quests to come much more fair.

You can do both the Miller's and the Blacksmith's Quests, also. Do the Blacksmith's first and stop right before he offers to take you to the wedding. Then do the Miller's and have him invite you. More quest content related to the Wedding on the Miller's path, while the Blacksmith's room-and-board makes for a much more convenient early game.

PSA Beds at Lodgings are bugged [KCD2]

Post image
3.0k Upvotes

I don't know if anyone else has posted about this but after the update any bed that I previously bought is now considered a private area and unusable. I just went to sleep in the bed south of Pschitoky and got attacked by a Hired Hand and forced out. Just wanted to give a heads up to people, find somewhere else to sleep or buy new accommodations elsewhere. Haven't tested in Kuttenberg yet so we shall see, also playing on PS5. Hopefully it helps someone haha. Also just for fun I added a funny piglet meme 😌. JCBP!
