A note about amazon links in comments

Hi All,

Reddit automatically marks comments that contain the a.co url shortener that Amazon uses when you share from the app as Spam. The comments show up in my mod queue and I often don't see them in time for the info to be useful. Which is a shame, as people are answering questions where they obtained upgrades for their Renegade. The original Amazon link should suffice, I haven't seen that come up as spam.

Radio/USB Port/12v - Multitude of Problems

There’s too much going on for me to put in the title, so I apologise. Hopefully folks who are more familiar with Renegades might have any clue as to wtf is going on, cause it’s a bit weird.

I’m gonna lay it all out so bear with.

The Car:
- 2015 Renegade Sport
- 1.6L Diesel
- Front Wheel Drive
- Right handed because I’m British™
- Battery recently checked - nice and healthy

The Radio:
- Uconnect 2.0 (I think, don’t quote me on that. I’d have to check)
- When engine is turned on, it’ll run for about 5 minutes, then the sound cuts out and I get a warning on the dash saying “Sound System Unavailable”. Then it restarts itself and will run for the entire rest of the journey, no matter how long it is. Every time.
- No function in Bluetooth/Aux/USB, all greyed out
- Not fully up to date, but refuses to take update

The USB:
- Was replaced when trying to do said update, as it was thought that that was the problem
- It was not
- Does not charge phone

12v Power Supply:
- Draws enough power to run the dashcam
- Does not draw enough power to charge phone

Is it a fuse problem? Is the Radio fucked? Is that entire middle bit fucked? Is she haunted? I have no idea.

Also, sometimes when it’s cold I’ll get the possible ice warning 50 times, as the temperature comes up and then disappears again. Could be unrelated but thought I’d mention it.

87 vs 91 gasoline

Hi. I’m buying a jeep renegade limited 2023. I am coming from a 2018 Jeep latitude. The limited has a 1.3 turbo charged engine where as the latitude had a 2.4 tiger shark. Is it true that the limited with the 1.3 turbo takes premium (91 gas)? Can I run 87 in it without destroying the performance of the car?

2017 Trailhawk Head Unit Advice

I’m pretty sure there’s an issue with my head unit. The driver side speakers sound blown, with the front being worse, but noticeable distortion in the rear as well. From what I’ve googled, it sounds like a defect in the head unit. I reset the settings, no change. I disconnected the battery, no change. So now I’ve got a few questions about the next steps I should take.

If I look for OEM, does it have to match exactly what I already have? It’s got SXM, but no navigation. I don’t have the beats sound package. If I got a unit with navigation, is it plug and play, or do I need something beyond what I already have.

If I go aftermarket, are there kits that prevent having to cut into the dash? Are there any decent aftermarket units + adapters that are going to be less than $500?

Thank you.

Bizarre noise from rear after turning Jeep off

This is a very random, seldom issue but I've had enough of it to finally ask for advice/help.

Jeep Renegade, 2015, 2.4L, Latitude. AWD.

At random times (up to months between) after I park, turn it off, get out, there will be a loud noise from the rear. It's a loud whirring/whining noise that sounds almost exactly like an impact wrench/gun. It only lasts 1-2 seconds, and nothing ever seems wrong except for the noise.

Distance driven never seems to matter either. Can happen from a 100+mile drive, or a 1/2 mile.

Tried Googling and got nothing relevant.

Replacement Key

So I just bought a 2015 Renegade but it only came with the one key (turn-key ignition). Any ideas on where to get a new one without spending an arm and a leg. I haven’t called my local dealership yet, but I assume they’ll be the most expensive. Batteries Plus quoted me at $560. Thoughts? Thanks!

Pedal Commander

I just installed the Pedal Commander and it’s pretty wild. I still have some tweaking to do to get it right but I’m curious to know if anyone else has one on their Renegade. If you’re not sure what it is, it’s a separate modular you install onto the acceleration pedal. It takes the acceleration lag completely out. From a stop and even while driving. You have immediate acceleration. I want to point one thing out…this is not a tuning or horse power upgrade. It just reconfigures your shift points and acceleration.

XRoad - Ukrainian Molle Panels for Renegade

Post image
26 Upvotes

I found a ukrainian company that makes molle panels for the Renegade cargo area.
https://xroad.com.ua/ua/p2386191978-molle-panel-xroad.html
https://xroad.com.ua/ua/p2386191979-molle-panel-xroad.html

This is the only option I know of since Valkyrie Offroad went out of business. I'm tempted.

I emailed their customer support asking about shipping to the US. They responded:

If you order only these two panels, shipping to the United States will be approximately 4,200 UAH via EMS post, or about $93 at today’s exchange rate. The exact USD equivalent may change slightly depending on the exchange rate on the day of payment.

After we confirm the order with you, we can add the shipping cost to the website so you can pay for the panels and delivery together in one payment.

So approximately:
Two panels: $165
Shipping: $93
Total: about $258

2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk

Since my jeep has 4 wheel drive settings is it running normally in front wheel drive or all wheel drive. Then the important question do tires have to have near the same wear or same tires?

r/JeepRenegade • • 2d ago

I just purchased a 2022 Jeep renegade latitude. I brought it home and noticed this issue with the trim at the top of both the drivers and passenger side window. I’m reading that this is normal. Why does this happen? Going to try to get it fixed tomorrow.

How do people handle the dark tinted windows at night?

Considering a 2021 sport and took home to test drive for the weekend. My main issue is the window tint. The back window is so dark I can’t rely on rearview mirror at night, and the back seat windows are also dark enough to make it really hard changing lanes on the highway at night. Any advice on something I can do to acclimate to this, or would you have the tint removed? TIA

So, I have a 21 Jeep Renegade Latitude. It isn’t the turbo, if that matters. It just hit 102,000 miles and I’ve had no trouble with it until last night.

I went through a local drive through. Maybe a mile a way. All city driving of no more than 40 mph. I sat idled for maybe 5-7 minutes in park while waiting at the drive through and halfway back home, I started smelling smoke.

When I parked, smoke was coming out from under my hood. I turned the car off and haven’t turned it back on since.

It appears to have leaked some liquid from an area on top. I’m not low on oil and the oil still looks good. It doesn’t smell like oil, either. The smell is very similar to antifreeze or coolant, but the car wasn’t running hot when I got home. Granted, it could have been something that was about to happen.

There’s nothing dripped through on the ground under my jeep at this point.

UPDATE:
Theres a hose that was barely hanging on from the coolant tank to the engine block and when I added liquid to the coolant tank, it came out immediately. The hose just fell loose with just barely touching it, too. I’ll post a pic in the comments.

2015 Latitude 2.4 skipping with no codes

154k trouble free miles. I’m getting an odd misfire at highway speeds. There’s no pattern to the skip and it Idles fine. It takes off from a stop perfectly. It doesn’t throw any codes.

It might skip once or less in a mile, and only in the highway. It feels like a quick jolt. I put fuel treatment in and topped off the tank. No change.

Any thoughts?

MySky Panel Sound Dampening and Storage Mod

Thumbnail

The wind noise from my roof cargo rack was pretty bad. I decided to add some sound dampening material to the MySky panels, while also epoxy potting in some threaded inserts for mounting accessories.

I bought a spare set of panels so that I could experiment. Note that these panels were not designed to be load bearing and that anything stored up there could potentially become a dangerous projectile in the event of a serious accident. I wont be putting anything too heavy up there.

I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I installed headliner over the sound dampening material. Gives it a nice finish. I'll try to record some videos of the wind noise at 70mph with the old and new panels. Now that I have an extra set of fasteners maybe I'll make a transparent set of panels.

  • McMaster-Carr 8662K32 1.5" x 3/8" delrin plastic rails.
  • McMaster-Carr 94459A793 M5 heat-set threaded insert potted in place with epoxy
  • JB Weld Original epoxy filling entire panel, 0.5" diameter around each insert
  • SGM Blue 2in1 200 mil (6mm) sound deadening secured in place using 3M headliner adhesive. (jury is still out on whether this is the best option, first time using it).
  • Black Headliner Fabric, Mesh Type, Foam Backed, 3mm

Talk me into (or out of) buying a 2018 Renegade 😂

I've always wanted a Jeep, but I've always heard they're unreliable. Well, I recently totaled my Nissan Sentra and now I'm looking for a replacement.

I found a 2018 Renegade Latitude 4x4 with 62k miles for $13k. It's bright yellow, has heated seats, a heated steering wheel, Android Auto, and pretty much everything I want in a car. I absolutely love it 😭

The CARFAX looks pretty good and shows regular maintenance, but everyone I talk to keeps telling me not to buy a Jeep because of the transmission issues.

Here's the thing. My Nissan needed a new transmission THREE MONTHS after I bought it, so I really don't want to go through that again. 😂

I did test drive a 2019 Renegade and noticed it was pretty sluggish, especially going uphill. I've seen a few people mention delayed acceleration and weird shifting. Is that just how these cars drive, or does it depend on the individual car?

I plan on being pretty meticulous with maintenance, including oil changes every 5k miles. I don't mind taking care of my car, but I really don't want to spend my weekends fixing it.

For those of you with a 2018 Renegade, how many miles do you have? Have you had any major issues? Would you buy another one?

I'm not expecting a perfect car. I just want something that'll hopefully last me a few years without becoming a money pit.

Please give me some hope because I really want this little yellow Jeep. 😂💛

Anyone ever have all their lights constantly flicker? (Headlights, dome lights, license plate light, etc)

No other electric issues besides the lights. Drives fine, windows and wipers work, ebrake works, dash looks good. However all the lights are constantly flickering. Only an issue when the car is running; they work fine off the battery.
I’ve already replaced the battery and alternator but it didn’t help at all. Anyone ever see this before? My mechanic is stumped too.
