Uh... Hi.

I'm Garmr most of my friends call me Garm. I never posted about it but yeah I'm a fur and kinda scare people off with saying my age. I'm 29 a big switch and get told I come off as pretty feminine. I like to chat I'm pretty laid back and love to poke fun at people.

Most of the younger furs want to call me 'daddy' as a guy who raised three kids (my siblings) it wigs me the fuck out. I wanna meet people closer to my age and possibly make some furry friends instead of listening to my friend group rag on them all the time.

So yeah. Say hi. I apologize if I don't reply immediately I am kinda bad about paying attention to my phone. But yeah hello thanks for having me.

If you want a chat topic I love Warhammer 40k.

Want to try being Furry, any advise?

I am 62M recently diagnosed ND.

Had to retire and have been thinking I want some of my childhood back. Furry came to mind immediately.

My concern is my age and gender. Are male Furry's accepted? Or are we just seen as creepy perv's.

If you were in my shoe's, how would you try to join the Furry community?

Also, I am not ready to build a full fursuit yet. Any suggestions for just started out cheaper?

Thank you

Struggling to meet people

So to be upfront, I have been aware of and a passive observer of furry for a very long time. I remember when SoFurry was YiffStar, and my first contact with the fandom proper was Dr. Comets artwork. It's only recently I have made myself a fursona, made furry social accounts, and tried putting myself out there in the fandom space.

And it's pretty difficult! A lot of people I encounter in discords, telegram, etc. are a lot younger than me and I frankly don't feel like I belong. I'm late 20s/early 30s area, most furries seem 15-25. We have absolutely nothing in common outside of "anthro characters cool". What inspired our furry journey is totally different, I am thinking about investment strategies and long term retirement goals as they discuss a big test coming up at school.

I signed up for a blusky because someone told me thats where the furries are at and I don't really get it. I never used twitter, I know this sites a twitter clone, but I don't really know how you meet people there? I just end up following some cool artists lol.

So I dunno. How do I meet furries that are in my age range? Am I too much of a boomer to be a furry now? Lol.

Nontoxic, Mature, Neurodivergent-Friendly Furry Connections?

Hello! I’m very outside my comfort zone posting here, as this isn’t my normal domain, but I’m hoping this post will be okay and not come off as weird or offensive. I am not a furry, but my very best friend is. I’ve done my best to educate myself and even though it’s not my thing, I find the furry community to be hugely diverse and rich with culture, color and nuance.

Now on to my reason for coming to you all:

My friend is 34 years old, male presenting/genderfluid, has a wolf fursona and is one of the most amazing, compassionate, sensitive beings I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. He’s very geographically isolated and has little in the way of furry community or safe spaces to explore his fursona. I try to be supportive and encourage him to express himself openly with me, but there’s only so much I can provide for interactive enrichment in this particular area, seeing I have differing preferences.

He is a writer, very intellectual, fun, and definitely on the neurodivergent spectrum. When he feels safe, he has lots of questions, thoughts and creativity to share.

I just want to help him find his pack. Normally he does best one on one or in small groups. Frantically paced and large chatrooms are overwhelming and overstimulating for him and most of the active furry community online seems to be in densely populated Telegram groups. He’s already had some bad experiences and I’m worried about him giving up on finding community.

Can any of you help me with getting him connected?

Just a bump

Hello, sorry for being away this hole time. Life caught up with me this last summer and stuff started to kind of fall apart for me. Things are better for my family now, and I’ve been getting back on track. I’ve had some good going on in my life with the more difficult situations.

I successfully finished my first book for myself in a long, long, time. It was a basic intro to philosophy and I would highly recommend it. Other than that, I’ve been going over mathematics again and it’s been fun the second time around.

So what’s new with all of you? I know it’s been a while.

I've lost faith in this community. Does nobody believe certain art should be absolutely off limits from being posted? NSFW

So I made a post on r/RealFurryHours implying a furry art making fun of Epstein victims should be banned off a furry website, because it's absolutely not okay, and a mod says "we've already talked about this" and deletes the conversation as if it isn't an important topic

One other person says they don't care, it doesn't matter what people post, even if it's an Epstein victims joke.

And one other essentially says "mind ya own business"

People from this fandom I have debated on that sub generally leaned towards "allow all art, just ignore it, art never causes harm." This makes me lose all faith in this community, if most people fail to consider the possibility art can be harmful.

A porn image making fun of Epstein victims on e6 is never okay, even if somebody believes in generally about allowing art they disagree with.

I believe art can cause harm, else Elon Musk is right to allow all kinds of hateful "art" on X/Twitter, and he is wrong. Anti-lgbt "art" (e.g Twitter posts) are harmful.

Online platforms, like X or e621, should not act as a megaphone for harmful content by allowing its posting. Well they deleted the Epstein one, but besides that point, most people I've met seen to think art like that should be allowed.

If the furry community in general approves of allowing all art, even Epstein Art that makes fun of the victims, then...I just have no faith in this place. What do you guys think?

I don't really have many places to talk about this topic that bothers me, not even the supposed debate forum r/RealFurryHours, and it's been killing me. Do you possibly have any advice on how I can have faith in people here?

You guys are older, maybe you have life advice on how to stop worrying about things so much. Thank you

Weekly thread like I lost count

I’m sorry for being so absent for all of this time. I’ve had family issues and I’m cleaning up my life right now. So I’m juggling a lot right now. How are things with all of you?

I’m working my way through a book that’s an intro to philosophy and it the best thing I’ve ever picked up.

VRChat Gray Muzzle Group

Post image
14 Upvotes

I'm exploring setting up a VRChat movie group. The idea is to simply announce a time to the group (private) and people can come and go as they please -- no worries about syncronazing start times.
VRChat can be done on desktop and phone. Discord Voice chat is also an option.

I've gotten some guidance from a fur who already runs one -- the screenshot is the movie theatre world and a film they ran. I'm looking at a streaming link they sent me.

Any feedback / input would be welcome.

"Hi! I'm new to the furry community and I'd love to learn more about furries. Also, I'm looking for a link to the Graymuzzle Discord server, if anyone has it. I've heard that minors aren't allowed there, and I'm not a minor either. I'd appreciate any help!"

No Bounce Back

I am "just" recovering from my two hours of suiting off and on the Lunar Faire on Friday.
The youngsters did the 4 hours and then an after party; I returned home and settled into my chair with a late supper and a movie.

After a bit, I cleaned my fur suit and then rested again. Saturday was marketing and not much else; I had an arcade meet, but my body revolted against the thought of saddling up again.

Not much bounce half way through my 60s. I hear the knight in Indiana Jones and Holy Grail "Choose Wisely"

The People behind the Sonas

I guess it's natural that chats are about the people behind the masks, erm fursuits, and what's on their minds -- apart from the personal drama.

I just marvel at all the different types of people who are drawn to being furry or are interested in furry matters. Professionals, students, people in hourly jobs.

Beyond the fur suit artisans, there are gear heads, service persons, musicians, and people looking to suit at any opportunity. Many attend as many Conventions, Pride events, Renaissance Fares and even baseball games (one of the members in a group I belong to has been seen at Mets and Philly games) as possible and a brave few suit in the wild.

In the groups I belong to, there are a few meet organizers, and movies and restaurant meets are common place (even if it is non suiting, and a head only photo shoot in some cases -- after the event), and one group enjoys arcade game meets. Picnic season is now here and a few pot lucks are planned.

I'm looking to gear up to attend more of these, but these old doggo bones do like to rest after an 8 hour shift weekdays. I had an unplanned Chair nap yesterday.

Living vicariously though the shenanigans of the younger pups and kits is a big part of it for me.
Easier to Not Do and Just Watch. But that's OK.

What's Happening in Your World?

Hello All. Just a little check in. It's local con season in NJ; Garden State Fur the Weekend, and The Big One (TBO) in central NJ, and Furgeddaboutit more Southwest NJ. Are you Attending conventions?

FWA is in GA next week and Calfurry in Calgary CA is on the following week. There are more but those seem the ones closes to where I've seen posts in the Telegram. I got my info from furrycons*com

So if you do attend, what do you like to do as a gray muzzle? Panels? Do you still Rave?
How much suiting do you do? What else? Do you go with a group, or solo suit?

I solo suit, as people I know scatter when they get to con and have I a little mobility issue, so I'm hesitant.

A fun thing about TBO is that one of the furs is heavily involved in VR and is in charge of the VR Portal for people to use to look in at the convention. I will probably be peeking in later, as I'm not there physically.

Beyond that, any new TV or books? I am about halfway into book one of Griffon Ranger, by Roz Gibson, about sentient avians (Griffons, Parrots, and others) and sentient grounds dwellers -- canines and what can only be a sentient raccoon type of Allie fur with a very catchy name -- that hints of an earthly origin back in their mythology.

Finally, I'm having FA withdrawal. I journal there and they've been having technical difficulties with storage and retrieval and such and are in Read Only mode at last check. I also follow a group of authors there and they provide a lot of entertaining material with their Thursday submissions.

Hopefully things are going well in your world. If not, You Can Handle It.

Who is Reading this Reddit?

I like text posting and just hope it stays. It's a great thing for longer discussion and maybe stuff that is deeper than a sticker or meme. There are 831 members in the group, but I don't see much activity.

I hope you're doing well u/kittyflops
