Epic Games' new store is fully vibe-coded, and they're so proud of it they're taking shots at Steam

It sucks, but it's twice as fast! That's good right?

That's important for when you're plateauing.

It makes no sense. Its a launcher, idc how fast it is on boot up if im gonna have it in the background for hours. Truly just dont know what theyre doing

Im not playing a launcher

I honestly don't care about a 0.12s in opening the launcher from the system tray. A ~5 second difference on first launch is pretty good, but how often are you cold starting Steam? I'd be willing to bet most PC games have it launch on start up. The only way I feel like fast launching would actually be noticed is if it's how fast games launch, and it would have to be by a good amount of time

I can launch the app, download my free games and quit the app twice as fast now! Thanks epic!

Faster because it has 10% os Steam's features 😂

I don't even play PC games so I have no useful input here, but it's like building a map app that has one feature and then comparing it to Google Maps and saying "Look! It's faster".

But does it have the same feature parity??

In the same sense that diarrhea is better than a solid poop because it goes flying out of you way faster.

We're losing money on every sale, but we'll make it up in volume

I just tried it, I don't see it run any faster.

u/GrandmaSassifrass 8h ago

I usually pay extra for that

1

u/Sky-knight22 8h ago

I’m already paying for it

u/Lint_baby_uvulla 8h ago

These John’s aren’t going to suck themselves, now get out there and suck FASTER.

if you take every single part from a car except the engine it will also become fast, and this is what it is.

Boy they sure were shit then when they worked in the last one

It won’t “suck” for very long and it’s significantly cheaper

1

u/kamoh 7h ago

You're right, soon it'll start regularly breaking and that's worse than sucking

Epic store already sucks and almost no one chooses it over steam. They might as well try something different
