Last time I was into producing music was like 15 years ago, got into it again recently. I cant seem to figure out what more do i need in this track. I think it portrays quite well how i was feeling while making it, but i just need some 3rd party feedback to take it to the next step?

Its quite simple but i believe thats the beauty of it. Any tips are welcome

Feedback Friday Yes, FL Studio is great for metal production!

While it’s certainly not the absolute best tool for the job, I’ve always found so much comfort in writing and recording with FL Studio, especially when it comes to the piano roll for writing drums, accompaniments, etc. I DO need to get more familiar with automations, specifically for pitch shifting reliably for different sections. I didn’t do it all here because I’m so bad at it lol. Hope you all enjoy it!

Plugins Free vintage multi-effect in the RC-20 direction, with filter sweeps, pumping and width built in

Hey, I'm a solo dev and producer. I love what RC-20 does, but I kept stacking extra plugins on top for filter movement, pumping and width. So I built Colony, a free vintage multi-effect that does both.

What's inside:

- Drive: tube, tape, hard clip

- Color: vinyl, lofi, bitcrush

- Motion: filter sweeps, tremolo, wobble

- Pump: tempo-synced or sidechain

- Space and Width

73 presets to start from, plus Level Match so louder doesn't fool you.

Works in FL as VST3 (also AU/Standalone, Win/Mac/Linux). No account, no email, nothing to unlock.

Happy to answer questions or take feature requests.

Help Monitoring issues

So I’ve been dealing with this for some time now, let me start with my specs. I’m running a focusrite solo 3rd gen audio interface with a rode NT1-A microphone. My issue is that when I try to monitor anything in fl studio it’s delayed just a tiny amount, and before you ask, yes I have my ASIO set correctly, and I’ve tried changing my buffer and everything like that. I have about 3 ms of delay but it’s still enough to be annoying. I’ve tried getting close back headphones, specifically the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x which did improve it slightly, but it’s still not great. I’ve tried using the direct monitor on my interface, which fixes the delay, but it’s very quiet and inaccurate to how it records. Nothing I’ve found online has helped me. Do I just have to live with this? Is there anything I can change or buy or anything that will help? Any trick or anything? Please help me.

Help I tried to open a project and it showed this

Post image

Am I cooked. I can’t see the project now. I recently got some new devices and have been trying them out on my Mac. Could that have anything to do with it? Obviously super stressed about this as it could potentially delete all the work I did on these projects… any help or insight appreciated.

Help I cannot get into FLStudio, it is ALL broken.

Post image

I'm trying to install FL Studio for the first time, however after two tries both times this pop-up comes to me for EVERY SINGLE ONE of the FL Studio Files. They are all shortcuts and I don't know if they are supposed to be shortcuts, as I thought they would be Application files. I am confused and I (99%) am sure it isn't a virus. I would like to makea the music and this is barring me from doing so.

Side note, while writing this I realized that a large bunch of my application files have been changed to broken shortcuts, I am so confused.

Plugins SLTune: free vocal autotune and formant shifter (macOS AU / Windows VST3)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m releasing SLTune, a free pitch-correction plug-in for monophonic vocals.

It handles gradual correction and hard tuning, with custom note sets, MIDI targets and an adjustable A4 reference (420–480 Hz). Formant shifting covers ±24 semitones, with a separate mix control and switchable tune/formant processing order.

Two LFOs provide tempo-synced modulation, including dotted and triplet rates. The second can switch to an envelope follower for voice-driven pitch and timbre changes.

LIVE reports 2 ms of plug-in latency at 48 kHz. HIGH uses 64 ms for cleaner formant processing; extreme shifts in LIVE can still produce artifacts. Interface and buffer latency are additional.

Available as AU for Apple Silicon Macs and VST3 for Windows x64 with English manual.

Help Advancing from tutuorials

So I just started using fl and I’ve been watching this one guy who does step by step tutorials. And what I’ll do is copy him and tweak parts and presets to what I like. But my question is how do I advance from that. What’s the next step into being able to make good beats without tutorials. I’ve tried learning music theory but I just can’t understand it but my drums are pretty solid but I just can’t make stuff without tutorials. And I’ve found this one tutorial which has the sound I really like and I made a really good beat with it but how do I make more with that exact feeling without copying the same pattern. Thanks

Help Vital and other vsts

So I’ve been looking into vital which is a free vst where you can get preset banks from the internet and I’m just trying to figure out if you can get so many free presets using vital that sound good why do people pay for other vsts and so many to be exact like am I missing something. I’m new to producing so if I’m saying something silly please don’t fry me.

And why do people still get serum if you can just use vital.

I already know this is probably a silly question but I just had to ask this.

Discussion project already has history on load (curious)

not that it really changes anything but i am curious, when i load a project it comes with a HISTORY!

judging from the entries it looks like something to do with vocals, maybe autotune? I noticed if i roll back all these by clicking on the last reset line it does make my vocals (that i recorded and mixed and whatnot like months ago) sound off...

anyway i thought this was interesting to share not really a problem lol

Help How do I apply Detune?

I’m on FL 12 because I heard that’s where Soundfonts sound the best, and I can’t figure out how to apply detune to each separate instrument (Such as SGM Piano 1, Earthbound Mellow Piano, etc etc). I figured the Master pitch can be used to detune the whole project, but it’s the separate instruments/soundfonts I want detuned, like a Piano detuned by 100 cents and a guitar detuned by 150 cents.

Title explains it all. Obv if prefer free but if its good im willing to drop some bands for a nice piano!!

Help Why do my xylophones sound like they're harmonizing with each other when they're only an octave apart?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I hope the problem I'm hearing is clear. I've tried using Parametric EQ 2 to isolate and remove the discordance, but I can still hear it. Even with just one xylophone at a time (especially the lower one), it sounds like two notes are playing when there's only one. This seems to only happen with malleted percussion instruments like xylophones, glockenspiels, marimbas, and vibraphones. How would I go about fixing this?

So I wanted to update my fl, did all the necessary things and when it finished verification of my account I click on restart and it doesnt restart, it just stays in a bug. I then force quit and when I open it again its the same thing.
I contacted the support and they told me to add it to Files and folders, then to activate full disk access, to try rosetta. I tried everything and jt is still the same, doesnt want to restart and is still locked. I also tried quitting it from the X (not woth the restart button) but when I open it again its still the same

Please can you help me solve this since the support cant do it plus they are a bit slow

Discussion How long to get good after switching from Logic

I’ve had logic for like 2 years and feel pretty confident at my abilities to produce a good beat. I can sample, use drum sequencer, side chain tracks, use buses, soft clip output track using distortion etc etc.. I generally make trap/rage sounding beats. My MacBook is lowkey breaking and I’m considering trading it in for a good windows laptop. I know a lot of the skills between DAWs are transferable and I’ve always heard good things about FL. My question is how many months of practice everyday to every few days will it take me to get to the level I’m at on Logic currently. I know it’s probably the right move as FL is better at producing these types of beats and Logic is better for recording live instruments etc but the feeling of having to start all over again with a new software just makes me not wanna do it.

Should I make the move over?

Thanks for any advice 🙏

Discussion How good a song has to be mixed/mastered to post on soundcloud/spoti

Just a quick question that might sound a bit dumb. Would you be willing to pay someone with better equipment to mix or even master your song so you could release it? Or would you do it yourself?

I've got a few projects I wanna post on SoundCloud and/or Spotify, but I don't have the money to get them mixed and mastered, let alone both.

I've been watching a lot of tutorials, like Virtual Riot's and similar ones, and I don't think it's that hard to do. Ofc, I can't really put it to the "real" test because I don't have a proper room, studio headphones, blablabla.

Is mixing and mastering without the proper equipment something you can still do well enough to release your music, or is it not even worth it?

TIA, and sorry if it's a dumb question! I just don't wanna put days of effort into something if it's not really worth it.

NOTE: I did send some of my tracks to someone who does mastering and mixing professionally and he told me they're pretty good for mastering and maybe just a tiny bit of mixing but not a lot, so that made me feel a bit more "safe" lets say haha.

Help How to implement vocals into beat?

Hey guys, I have had FL for a while but only just started learning it, but I want to start making beats that contain vocals/ vocal cuts, sort of similiar to EDM songs, but I do not have a clue how to make it sound good, do I need to have layers of effects on top of it as well as experiment with keys that go well with the vocals? I just need a bit of advice/guidance on that part, thanks.
