I've never been in a band and I don't know shit about production - but have been singing my whole life.

I'm flexible on genres for projects, I mostly into metalcore, synthwave, retrowave, and edm.

I started practicing harsh vocals for the last couple years and have gotten pretty good imo.

I'm open to remote projects but I live in the Central Coast of California. (~3hrs North of LA)

The only instruments I play are tin whistle and Native American style flute (Tin whistle/NA flute is cool AF btw and it'd be dope to integrate that into metal songs).

I've been doing covers on a karaoke app called Smule for the last year or so. You sing half the song and other people can join and sing the other half.

I have no control over the other people so please don't judge me based on them if they're not good! 😂

Hey there, I'm Kris. I'm 23 years old and have roughly 9 years of experience solo producing various kinds of music.

I recently started a new Metalcore/Post-Hardcore band with my friend. Our influences primarily include bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Underoaths, Bad Omens, From First To Last, Motionless In White, I Prevail, Babymetal, Ennaria, etc. We are seeking to bring another lead vocalist and another guitarist into the band, as our current lead vocalist and guitarist are currently facing issues which are preventing them from contributing.

A big part of the style that we're aiming for is experimenting a lot with combining electronic genres with metalcore/post-hardcore such as Hyperpop, Breakcore, Drum n Bass, etc. In fact, the original premise of the band was trying to continue that sort of sound that was seen in Bring Me The Horizon's Post-Human Nex Gen just because I found that so cool.

For the vocalist, we are primarily looking for someone that can do clean vocals, but being able to do screams/growls is also very much encouraged - I would say an ideal ratio we're aiming for is about 35% screams to 65% cleans, if that makes sense. We do have a slight preference for a female vocalist, since our current lead vocalist is female, but really as long as you can nail the style we're looking for then we aren't too picky. Being a songwriter/being able to write your own lyrics is also very much encouraged as, while we can write lyrics, I would be lying if I said that it was any of our strong suits. And I also think it's important that the vocalist is comfortable with the material they are singing about, anyway.

For the guitarist, I've actually been self-teaching myself how to play the guitar and I've gotten to the point where I'm happy enough with the more simpler rhythm sections, but the harder sections such as breakdowns or parts with advanced techniques like pinch harmonics and panic chords are still nigh impossible for me to pull off on my own, so we're actually specifically looking for someone that can handle those parts. When playing, I mainly use Drop C tuning. You don't need to worry too much about your guitar tone, I'll be making the tone myself in the DAW anyway, but you can still give your input on the tone or use your own tone for demoing/practice purposes ofc.

I have been writing songs for quite a few years and think I have some arrangements that would work to help start a band with.

While I have a pretty clear vision (that isn't precious and open to other people's creative input) I'm not great at classifying my music into a genre. It's definitely rock.

My main influences are Radiohead, Mono, Fugazi, the cure, Boards of Canada and Refused.

Some of it has a very post rock cinematic feel and some I could see the pit opening up, and while I feel it jumps genres slightly it still all sounds like one project.

I've purposely only arranged kind of sparse chord arrangements because I very much want room for other people's creativity, and melodic ideas take shape.

I do write some lyrics and am willing to sing although I think other people would be more qualified.

While I have a lot of song ideas I would like it to also have songs that form from organic jams.

Ideally it would be a modular group of multiple songwriters and instrumentalists that have a similar vibe but I'm not beholden to that. If I have to be "the guy" I'm okay with that but I don't necessarily want that.

I'd like to discuss it with people further without laying it all out here simply because I don't trust I'd express it well enough.

My ambition is mostly to just be a great live band and if we pique enough interest to tour and stuff that would be great but very okay being local.

But I absolutely want to play shows. And DIY record.

I'm very interested in a multimedia type experience akin to Massive Attacks', Flaming Lips' and Diiv's live shows. So ideally we'd have a designated member that is into sampling and audio collages.

I would like a lyricist/singer that can work with my ideas and feed off each other.

I'd also like to meet a multi media individual that is into live visuals and sampling, if they are also a musician that's cool too.

A person who really likes doing all the cool textural stuff, either guitar or synth or both

I would probably focus mostly on rhythm guitar. But will probably bounce around a little. If we could all do that even better.

I really want to create it's own living breathing organism. It's ambitious to a degree but only from a performance standpoint and I'm willing to really give it my all.

The sound I'm going for: Groove metal mixed with technical death metal. Think Lamb of God, Bleed From Within, necrophagist, death. and technical, chaotic riffing, with an emphasis on memorable riffs, aggressive rhythms, tight grooves, and interesting songwriting. I want the music to feel heavy and human, not just be low-tuned chugs for the sake of it.

I'm currently writing toward a sound like lamb of god necrophagist and the band death and some prog stuff in there as well to make a unique riffing style, with room for technical death metal influences and more experimental ideas. I'm open to developing the sound together rather than trying to copy any one band.
