Discussion John Collins

• Upvotes

He will end up being a good player. The national media will catch on half way through the year.

Want to know why? Cade Cunningham. I can't think of a player who didn't improve since Cade has led this team. So maybe this is a Cade Cunningham post lol.

Anyways, it feels good to be excited about Pistons basketball every season again.

Humor Jalen Duren with 24 pts in the first half going 8-9 from the field and 8-8 at the FT line

Discussion The 25-26 Pistons averaged 10.6 steals/game, leading the league in the regular season. Using stats from that season (and college stats for rookies), the 26-27 roster players averaged 15.3...

And so far in the preseason, those results are holding at 16 steals/game, far and away tops in the league.

Notable additions: Isaiah Joe (.6), Taurean Prince (.6) John Collins (.9), Ebuka Okorie (1.6).

Obviously creating turnovers and playing in transition are focuses for this team and we're pretty darn good at it. My question is: do you generally think a turnover/transition-focused team is more or less viable come playoff time?

Discussion Anyone in Sanilac County find a good way to watch the games?

I bought an indoor antenna with amplifier and can pull in WNEM from Bay City/Saginaw, but its intermittent. I can get it working fine for an hour but the next hour its unwatchable. I cant pull in anything near Detroit. I am 60+ miles away from WNEM so that is already pushing it.

We do stream TV, but we are technically under Detroits region for news, and YouTube TV doesn't have the TV20 Scripps channel

Is there a website of some affiliate we can watch the games on or something else to try?

Discussion Pistons Pre-Season

So my anniversary is this weekend and my wife suggested going to LCA for the Friday night Pistons pre-season game vs Toronto. There are some tix close to the court that are way less than regular season tix (albeit still fairly expensive), but we never get to sit there so I'm giving them some thought... wondering if anyone has any suggestions or info to share regarding the pre-season experience vs regular.

Things I'm aware of. Cade (and likely Duren) won't be playing. All starters will have very limited minutes. It's pre-season so the game itself doesn't really matter (although a lot of reg season can be treated like that too)....

But I'm thinking it may be worth it just to watch a bunch of pro ballers play from up close. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed!

Discussion Asking Pistons fans of all generations!

Hey Pistons fans, so I’m making a video on each franchise’s biggest upset (when they were not expected to win) and each franchise’s biggest choke (sorry if that strikes a chord). I have my guesses for each but I wanted to ask actual Pistons fans to see what you guys think and if you have better answers that I should look at.

I'm considering an upset strictly as when that team was not supposed to win or were big underdogs and won. A choke can either be when your team was expected to win and underperformed, or blew a big lead in an important game or in the playoffs (something around those lines). It can also be a blown playoff lead (example: 3-1 lead)

Let me know what you guys think, I will link the video here when it’s done. Good luck to you guys this season!!

Discussion Why Can’t It Work

I’m well aware of all the stress and pain of everyone’s anxiety over are team structure. There’s a lot I don’t like but it’s possible to make it work. Everyone knows Detroits goal is to somehow have Cade,Ron,Ausar,Duren in the same lineup one day. Wether you like it or not it’s there goal. So negative narratives aside.

WHAT IF:
Jalen Duren develops a mid range game. Just a basic mid range jumper that’s respectable. He shoots a good percentage from the free throw line. Forgot the advancement on the post up and play making I’m just saying a basic to good jumper

Ron Holland can shoot 30% from 3. Not sexy but a number somewhat respectable. He has the confidence and it doesn’t look bad when he shoots. His confidence and willingness means he will continue to shoot it but only time will tell if it starts to go on more.

Ausar Develops a jumper. This is crazy but his ability to get to the mid range is there. He has Okay creation but even if it’s a post up he has the strength and speed to start something but no jumper. He easily rises above the defender because of athleticism but the jumper is not a threat. Not saying 3pt shooter just saying a mid range jumper and be willing to take it (confidence is key).

Conclusion- A little more space may open up everyone’s else’s game. Not saying everyone’s playmaking improves or they take this massive leap in everything but with a little more space helps. I see it in there games so it’s not unrealistic. I remember the days of no hope and trust me I didn’t want Duren in June and always vibed with Beef Stew but opinions aside and I have plenty it’s possible to still be optimistic.
So I’ll watch for the small things and we’ll see. From a Piston lifer to Piston lifers.

Discussion Are We There Yet?

We’re gearing up for the October 20th edition of NBA basketball.
There are two (2) games remaining in the preseason - Oct 14 vs Wolves (Away) and Oct 16 vs Raptors.
There are some improvements that need to happen before we can evaluate this team.

- Oct. 19: Rosters set for NBA
Opening Day
- Feb 12, 2027: NBA trade deadline

It’s obvious that the departures of BStew and Uncle T have changed the chemistry of this team.
Yes - We needed a reliable #2 scorer, help on the boards, and some perimeter shooters.
No - I don’t see us competing with teams with bigger lineups.
Yes - We have some fighters in camp who want to win.
No - We need to see improvement in targeted areas now.

We’re basically in the same position as last season. We either wait for the deadline to pass, or start planning on getting better. The next 2-3 games will determine whether we’re a top 5 team, or not. We cannot afford to be out hustled, or overworked on the boards.

Come on guys, and figure this out.

Discussion Green is underutilized and undervalued, and I would not mind seeing him in crunch time, especially since he is not a defensive liability or a floor spacing liability. Might be the only true 3 and D player we have.

  • He is probably the second or third best defender on the team
  • Can guard 3-4 positions comfortably
  • Always available to play
  • Hits his open threes
  • Get rebounds/hustles
  • Athletic
  • Good instincts/IQ
  • Brings intensity
  • Makes winning plays
  • Knows and understands his role

I would not mind if he got way more minutes than some of the other members of the second unit.

Discussion Moving to NY in December from the 🇵🇭 Philippines—Barclays or MSG for a Pistons game?

Hi all, my wife and I have been blessed to migrate to the USA 🇺🇸 from the Philippines 🇵🇭 after she got an opportunity to work as a nurse. We are super lucky and blessed, but I realized our new home state will be New York 🗽.

After they won a championship; dang! I won’t be caught dead not wearing a hard-earned Pistons jersey (definitely getting a Rasheed Wallace #30 and/or Cade Cunningham #2) if I decide to watch a game live. Home court team support is not a factor for me—I’ve been supporting Motor City since 2003 and never bandwagoned and don’t see myself rooting for another team.

Moving to NY the first week of December! Quick question for any NY-based Pistons fans and Pistons fans in general: Should I just go to Barclays (Nets) to save some sanity and cash away from MSG (Knicks), or is it the same hostile territory since it's still NYC and I don’t want my very first Pistons jersey to just get ripped?

Discussion Holland will never reach full potential as a Piston

Holland skill set will never truly shine in Detroit. he’ll never have the offensive freedom he needs. He’d excel as a downhill slasher. But his skills overlaps with Ausar too much and Pistons won’t give him enough ball handling opportunities. He’ll never be a great catch and shoot guy. He’s going to be extension eligible soon and still has no clear role. Green and Huerter offer clearer roles and better fits on wing. Really thought he was the piece that need to be dealt for His and Pistons sake long term
