Ask DesiTravellers I built a free live flight tracker for India, plus lounge guides and a "does my card get me in?" checker: vimana.live

I've been building VIMANA
an India-focused flight tracker that also helps with the airport part of the trip. It's free, there's no login and no ads.
**Live flights**
* About 300 aircraft over India at any moment, from community ADS-B receivers (adsb.lol + adsb.fi)
* Tap a plane for its route, ETA, aircraft type and punctuality, or open it in 3D and follow it in to land (sun-lit terrain, real stars at night, lit runways)

Ask DesiTravellers Indian from Kerala planning to visit Bangladesh for the first time. Need some advice!
Hey everyone!
I'm from Kerala, India, and I'm thinking about visiting Bangladesh, probably Dhaka. I've never travelled there before, so I'm trying to figure out how everything works before making any plans.
I'd really appreciate advice from Indians who've travelled to Bangladesh and Bangladeshis who live there or have experience travelling between the two countries.
A few things I'm confused about:
\- How difficult is it for an Indian citizen to get a Bangladeshi tourist visa?
\- Do I need to maintain a certain bank balance? Do they ask for bank statements?
\- How much would a trip of 7 days cost, including flights, accommodation and other expenses?
\- What's the easiest way to travel from Kerala to Dhaka, for now am planning of taking a flight?
\- For anyone living in Bangladesh, what’s it like for someone visiting from India right now? Is there anything a first-timer should know before coming?
\- Any advice about accommodation, local transport or anything else I should know?
I'm still in the planning stage, so I haven't booked anything yet. Just trying to understand the process and figure out how much I need to save.
Would love to hear from people who've actually been there or know how things work. Thanks!

Kerala Solo traveling Munnar soon!
Hi guys! I will be solo-traveling Kerala and will be spending a few days in Munnar. I have two questions to start.
I am interested in renting a scooter for maybe a day or two. Can foreigners with regular driver's licenses (regular car driving) be able to rent scooters in Munnar?
Also, which area do you recommend solo travelers to stay at? I would prefer being close to the beautiful views Munnar is known for and would like to be close to activities such as hikes, tea planation/farm visits, or animal safaris. I would prefer to stay in a homestay with home-cooked food!

Ask DesiTravellers Would you spend a night in a houseboat instead of a regular hotel?
I've always thought staying somewhere on the water would be a different kind of getaway compared with a regular hotel.
Imagine waking up to peaceful river views, enjoying a slow morning, and spending time away from the usual city routine.
For those who have tried a houseboat stay, how was your experience? Was it worth it, and what should first-timers look for when choosing one?
I'd love to hear your recommendations and experiences!

Ask DesiTravellers Roadtrip to Shangarh
Hi Travellers,
Planned a road trip with my family of 5 to Shangarh from 17 to 20 Oct. Can anyone let me know the current road condition? I saw a post about landslide on the way to Shangarh. I’m travelling with my parents, wife and 1.5 year old daughter by Tata Safari hence trying to be more cautious. Really appreciate the responses.

Ask DesiTravellers How do I book a fully refundable hotel (not a dummy booking) that I can show at immigration, without worrying about refund issues?
I’m trying to make a real, fully refundable hotel booking that I can show at immigration if they ask. I don’t want a dummy or fake reservation, just a genuine booking with free cancellation.
On Booking(dot)com, some options ask for payment upfront, and I’m worried it could turn into a problem later when I try to get the refund.
Has anyone done this before? A few things I’d like to know:
- Which websites or booking options work best for free cancellation with a proper confirmation?
- Is it safer to pick “pay at property” or “free cancellation, no prepayment” options?
- Did you run into any refund delays or issues after cancelling?
