I once witnessed take that trans women are superior to women in sports because training... Like women boxers aren't traught real manly box but girly pillow fight box so they can't hit with same strength. The same was applied to all other sports like running.
Some sports do actually see a difference. Hockey for men is taught much more physically because the higher levels of men’s hockey allow for more hitting and contact while women’s hockey only recently started allowing more contact.
Additionally because men are bigger it means there’s less room out there on the ice which means playing the body is a bit more emphasized than finesse like with smaller players (this is seen in men’s hockey too)
In the 2010s the Canadian women’s national team actually prepared for the Olympics by playing against AA and AAA guys teams in part because the guys played a more physical game than most of the opponents that Canada would play against so made for good practice for a tournament that would be scrappier than their regular friendly games.
And these differences aren’t just seen in men and women. It can also be regional. Going back to hockey, we saw this with NA style and European style hockey. Less so now but especially in the past. Europe plays on larger rinks 200 ft by 100 ft. While NA is 200 by 85.
So here we saw the same thing. NA was more physical, Europe was more finesse.
What happens when you combine them? Before NA took out hitting for women’s hockey and when many of them likely grew up playing coed?
A lot of injuries like the first women’s world championships which is partly why they took it out.
And I used hockey for both but we see it elsewhere too. Baseball in the US is more offensively minded while Japan is more defensively, small ball minded
I'm not arguing against existence of schools or types of training for sports some of which are gender specific, but again there is also regional aspect to that as you point out.
I may written it poorly but argument was that no matter what, it's physically impossible to train women to use the same technique as man uses.
It was very much female Vs male socialization (in transphobic sense) reframing for sports argument.
Somehow both the most and least misogynistic thing I have heard lol. Did they somehow believe every single trainer was conspiring to uphold patriarchy?
