Politics/Politique Why did Burkina Faso criminalise homosexuality?
Even comrades like Castro later decriminalised this in the 1970s. Why in 2020s criminalise this?

While Ibrahim Traoré is rightfully celebrated and praised for his leadership throughout Burkina Faso, the African continent, and the entire world, we should not forget the long arduous struggle of the people of Burkina Faso and the Sahel who made, and who continue to make, this revolution possible. Ibrahim Traoré draws inspiration not just from Burkina Faso's revolutionary history and traditions, including the People's Democratic Revolution of Thomas Sankara, but also the immediate history of neighboring countries such as Mali, where anti-imperialist leader Assimi Goïta took power in 2021.
So much has been achieved since the coming to power of Traoré. Burkina Faso, like neighboring Mali and Niger, are among Africa's very few liberated zones. It is the responsibility of every Pan-Africanist, every anti-imperialist, every lover of humanity and progress, to defend these revolutionary processes tooth and nail. However, Burkina Faso's destiny remains ultimately tied to that of the African continent as a whole and the country will only be truly safe from imperialism when all of Africa is unified under scientific socialism. For this reason we reiterate: Today the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), Tomorrow the United States of Africa.
The homeland or death, we will succeed!

It’s really important for any superpower to have highly strong defences to ensure mutual destruction in the case of an attack. Every big name in geopolitics are considered unthinkable to ever attack. I figure the AES as a whole is on an incredible trajectory, and could be the first modern African alliance to ever fully cut off all colonial ties. But if the time ever comes when Burkina becomes really technologically advanced and highly independent, they’ll need strong defence forces. But should or should that not mean nuclear forces?

North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Son Gyong met Burkina Faso Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré in New York on September 26, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Kim said developments in Burkina Faso are being closely followed in Pyongyang and that North Korean authorities have strong admiration for Traoré’s leadership. Burkina Faso’s foreign minister also said Traoré has great respect for Kim Jong Un.
Both sides agreed to increase exchanges and expand cooperation between Ouagadougou and Pyongyang.

Hello everyone,
I am from Vietnam — a country that was also invaded and exploited by French colonialism, so I feel a deep sense of empathy with the people of Burkina Faso.
I have a few questions:
I wish your country and its people a strong, sovereign, and prosperous future!

Before they say terrorists control the whole country and we will collapse soon. Then they laugh when we begin processing food. Now that he have our gold refinery and control our minerals. They say we are North Korea. Look at these people and laugh.

When Captain Ibrahim Traoré opens a state gold refinery so Burkina Faso can keep its own mining profits and national wealth inside Africa, BBC labels him a “junta leader.”
Meanwhile, a rebranded extremist terrorist who spent years bombing schools and killing minorities gets the respectful title of “transitional president.”
If you fight to keep African resources in African hands, you are a junta.
If you lick the western boots you become a legitimate leader.

Ibrahim Traoré defends decision to leave the ICC
“How many Africans have been brought before the ICC? And how many of these Westerners have been brought to the ICC?”
Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré blasted the International Criminal Court as a “tool of imperialism” in defense of his government’s decision to exit the body, a process it began earlier this year along with fellow Sahel states Mali and Niger. Traoré said the Hague-based tribunal never existed to hold Western leaders accountable for war crimes.
“If the ICC truly existed, the George Bushes, Tony Blairs, and others should be in prison, even the Obamas. In Iraq, people were killed, weren't they, over tales of weapons of mass destruction? In the end, how many hundreds of thousands of children died?
What did that yield? Who went to prison?”
The European Parliament passed a resolution in June criticizing the Traoré government’s sweeping civic and political reforms and urging it to reverse its decision to leave the ICC. Burkina severed diplomatic relations with its former colonizer France later that month. Traoré has threatened to cut ties with the EU if Brussels continues to interfere in its domestic affairs.
