Bright Horizons Bothell vs Birch Tree Academy for 4-year-old — worth switching?

My 4-year-old is at Bright Horizons Bothell. Heard good reviews of Birch Tree Academy and considering a switch for her Pre-K year.

We are generally happy at BHs but exploring better options if there are any

Anyone with experience at one or both — how do they compare on Pre-K prep, teachers, outdoor time, and cost?

Worth switching?

Handyman/Installer Recommendations

Hey everyone! I’m in the area and looking for a reliable handyman who can install overhead storage racks in my garage to maximize storage space.

Does anyone have recommendations for someone local who has experience with this type of installation? I’d appreciate any referrals or recommendations based on your own experiences. Thanks in advance!

Good local eats

I'm near Thrasher's Corner and constantly find myself lamenting that my favorite ramen spot is over in Everett.

Help me feel better! What are some good local eats near me that I've just been overlooking? (Bonus points if they're decently priced.)

Free tabletop roleplaying event!

I recently won an art grant from the city of Bothell to make and run a tabletop roleplaying game (a cooperative storytelling experience a la Dungeons and Dragons).

I'll be running the game four times over the next month, all free, public events:

  • Saturday October 17, Bothell Library, 2-4 pm (6-8 graders)
  • Saturday October 24, Zulus Bothell, 1-4 pm (age 12+)
  • Saturday November 7, Bothell Library, 2-4 pm (adults)
  • Saturday November 14, McMenamins Thorndike Room, 12-4 pm (age 12+)

You play play as shapeshifting aliens who have infilitrated a high school in the Southwest United States in order to better understand human culture while you decide whether or not to conquer the planet.

Well, really you're playing actors!

Glorydays takes place on the set of a CW-style teen drama (think Veronica Mars, Smallville, Supernatural, or Roswell). Your characters have arcs that they will chase as they attempt to get renewed for a second season.

Come join the fun! No experience necessary!

I saw ICE with their faces covered and unmarked cars in Bothell just arresting a man from a blue car. It was south of Burgermaster around 9am this morning! I have video but can't seem to post it here - any suggestions where to send it?

The weekend game plan: Football, detours and a full SB I-405 closure in Bothell (Oct. 9–12)

Post image
18 Upvotes

We've got Seahawks football, Huskies football and... a full closure of southbound I-405 in Bothell. Not exactly the tripleheader anyone asked for.

Whether you're heading to the game or just trying to get where you need to go this weekend, you'll want a game plan before hitting the road.

Here's the play-by-play:

SOUTHBOUND I-405 FULL CLOSURE IN BOTHELL

All lanes of southbound I-405 will close between SR 527 and SR 522 from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, to 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12.

The following southbound ramps will also close:

  • SR 527 on-ramp to southbound I-405
  • Northeast 195th Street on- and off-ramps
  • SR 522 off-ramp from southbound I-405

Crews will use this closure to work on drainage, pavement reconstruction and bridge repair as part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project.

WHAT ABOUT THE DETOUR?

A signed detour route will be in place, but expect additional traffic on surrounding roads as travelers find alternate routes.

ALSO ON THE WEEKEND LINEUP: REVIVE I-5

If your travels take you through Seattle, the northbound I-5 express lanes will also close overnight this weekend:

  • Friday, Oct. 9: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday
  • Saturday, Oct. 10: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday
  • Sunday, Oct. 11: 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday

Crews will use these closures to complete drainage work underneath the Ship Canal Bridge. The two right lanes of northbound I-5 and the southbound express lanes across the bridge also remain closed around-the-clock.

GAME-DAY TRAFFIC

The Huskies host Iowa on Friday, Oct. 9, and the Seahawks take on the 49ers at Lumen Field on Sunday, Oct. 11. Between game-day traffic and construction, expect longer travel times around Seattle.

The game plan? Check your route before leaving, give yourself plenty of extra time and don't count on your usual drive taking its usual amount of time.

Anyone want a free dinner? Ill pay.

Male in his late 30s tired of eating alone.

I tend to like people older than me just because the conversations (usually) are better with them but that in no way is a deal breaker.

Other than that, I don't care if you are a man or woman, fat or skinny, or what color, religion you get the idea. I just want a nice human to have a meal with. If we get along well, we can make it a regular thing.

I might smell like weed so I hope that doesn't bother you.

None of my posts or comments are private, so feel free to take a look at my profile and see if you think we'd get along.

If everything on your profile is private and I can't learn anything about you, do me a favor and tell me somethings in your opening message.

Thanks!

Next Council in the Community Event: Saturday, October 24 at the Northshore Senior Center

Post image
3 Upvotes

That's right, Bothell! Council in the Community returns this month for another opportunity to chat with your City Councilmembers, ask questions, share feedback, and learn more about City services and priorities!

While we at the City of Bothell would love it if the whole community joined City Council meetings, we get it - they aren't everyone's cup of tea. So this event series provides an extra opportunity for the Bothell City Council to come to YOU and chat with you directly over coffee and community 💬

This time we will be hanging out with our friends at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell (10201 E. Riverside Dr.) - All are invited to join us on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00am to noon to chat with members of your City Council and neighbors (did we mention there will be coffee? ☕️).

Learn more and find future events at bothellwa.gov/councilevent
