App An Unpopular Opinion
I don't understand why people don't like modern Windows apps; the interface of the new MS Paint looks much nicer and it has new features.

App 7-Zip released new version today, it still runs on Win2000
When many programs are dropping support for Win7 SP1, this guy still maintain compatibility for 26 years old Windows. Mad respect.

App I found a way to access IE 11 in Windows 11 through a Halo 2 installer
I am not kidding. This only works through the installer, not the HTM file for the license terms. I just wanted to play Halo, not discover a workaround to revive IE

App Windows Clock App no longer has a...clock
Windows clock now seems to be for focus sessions and timers etc. There is no longer an analogue clock in windows unless you enable widgets.

App If you know these, you're old ;)
I've had these since I bought them around 1988ish, enjoy. Yes I said 1985 first, mistakenly, it has been a long time since I bought them.

App Windows XP in the browser, with a File System, Programs, XP-style File Picker and Saver dialogs, 3rd-party Programs, etc.
Experience Windows XP in the browser
Deploy it on your own server: GitHub repo
I made this Windows XP-in-the-browser project a while ago as a way to revisit the nostalgia of my childhood, and hopefully bring back some memories for others too.
Today, July 13, marks 25 years since Windows XP development first began, so it felt like a fitting time to share it.

App let-it-rain : rain on your desktop
2 months ago, I shared a video of my desktop with a rain effect running in this sub-reddit. Many people asked me to open-source the code and publish it. Here it is – "Let It Rain" – Watch raindrops gracefully fall from the top of your screen and splatter as they hit the taskbar.
Features:
The app is built in C++ and DirectX and is super light-weight at only 400KB.
It uses ~7MB of RAM and about 2-3% CPU on my 6-year-old i5 PC.(DWM process may share some load)
You can customize the rain color, direction, and the number of raindrops from tray icon right-click.
It’s currently tested only for Full HD or lower resolution single-screen setups.
To-Do:
Need to check performance in 4K screens.
Add multi-monitor support.
Make gravity and rain speed customizable.
Apart from the aesthetics, this app doesn't serve any functional purpose. I personally use it as a calming distraction while working.

Note: Some browsers may flag the direct exe download since exe is not signed. You can also build the source if you want.

App Windows Security App Overlay Icon
Is there a way to disable the green tick overlay on the main icon when the system security status is okay? I don't understand why the green tick has to obscure the main icon when the security status is good. There is no need for an additional icon on top of the main icon. If there's a notification or risk, it could be indicated with a yellow alert overlay icon instead.

App What apps are these?
Context: I did the usual Windows update but this time I opened Start Menu and pressed "Update and Restart" instead of pressing the icon on the task bar. I'm not sure if it made any difference but when the laptop turned back on, nothing was out of the ordinary. I didn't see those apps in Start Menu until hours after the update.
All I can say that could possibly be the reason for those apps being there is I downloaded something for Microsoft Visual Studio a few days ago. I just came here because I'm not completely sure as to why those apps are there.

App SuperPOS: A free POS software for USA based shop owners and retailers
Microsoft Store Link: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NQGZWXW33XQ
I developed this software to help out retailers and shop owner folks to operate a free POS software to run business. It runs locally, no data is sent over network. Your data remains yours. It aims to have feature parity with popular options in the market. Cheers!
